Couldn't get the brain to remember all the fancy-schmancy terms I was meant to say about the construction, but for those wondering... * All wood is treated * All nails are galvanised * All screws are either galv or coated for treated wood * No, I didn't have a plan, this basically came out of my head and was primarily dictated by fixed sizes of goods, such as the flooring sheets 2400x1200 * Rafters are at 600 centers, held down with cyclone straps and toe nailed * purlins are recessed in to the 150x50 rafters and toe nailed * Internal walls are 12mm structural ply and the stud walls are 90x45 and 600mm centers * Insulation is polyester fill R1.5, basically the same stuff that goes in your winter quilts * Exterior is shipplanked 230mm wide 7mm FC * foil sarking has been applied between stud frame and FC * Roof is colourbond sheet metal screwed down with 10-14 65mm cyclone/climate type-17 screws (sadly I didn't get colour matched ones for the woodland grey roof) Lots of finishing work to be done yet but at least the big things are now out of the way.

Great work @pldaniels, seeing the transformation has been nice and the effort you are putting in (and building skills!) the cats are so lucky to have you both. Can't wait for the next instalments :)

It's definitely always more work than you anticipate ( sounds like programming! ). Getting the stud walls up in to a 'box' always feels like you're almost finished, hah, barely even starting when you get to that stage :( Eaves, facias, mezanine floor/shelf, running the last two runs of the FC exterior... and then when that's done there's the deck to build

@@pldaniels The "always more work than you anticipate" seems to be a thing on every project.. I soo know that feeling, but... one step at a time and the feeling when you can stand back and go "yay!", and then your mind drifts to all of the other projects that need attention and what comes to mind is "oh bugger! lol

@@pldaniels Of course like any construction project budget overruns and end dates are a moving target.

Excellent work. A small shade tree would keep the house cool during the summer. 🐱

You mean... like the massive tamarind tree directly behind & above it ?

@@pldaniels I didn't notice that 🙄 Well, it is early here, perhaps I need more rest 🙃

Why yes, there is a perfect tree, my bad. I'll go sit in the corner. I have to fix an oil leak on the truck this morning, I hope I don't miss any parts 😂

@JimAllen-Persona shade + insulation will help quite a bit with keeping the temperature down, however once we're between Oct-March period it's just too hot on many days still, so having the AC available will help keep it cool enough so that the cats will still be comfortable enough sleeping in there.

Nicely done Paul! Could I kindly suggest before closing up the tops; It will make life easier for electrical & data unless you've left draw strings in?!

I've got one GPO being installed under where the AC unit is, and that'll be an external (caravan) type 'socket' on the exterior going pretty much straight through to the interior wall to the twin-outlet GPO, nothing else will be going in this hut. That said, the walls are screwed on, so not toooooo much trouble to take off, maybe ;) Oh, you probably noticed I've not finished with the cyclone straps on the rafters yet, need to bend a couple back or flatten to put in a few more nails :|

@JimAllen-Persona doesn't affect the insurance in any real way that I know of, obviously though I'd say it won't be covered if anything happened to it.

@rossmanngroup did you even try OSB and self leveling concrete? 😁

Ooof, the self-levelling thing was quite the point of contention.
