I love that you make these videos without assuming the viewer knows the basics of other games from the same franchise. So often I'll try to learn a game from a popular franchise and "how to" videos will say "mechanics and turn actions are similar to these other games". And since I'm a broke college kid, I have neither owned nor played those other games, and therefore, have no clue what they're talking about. I absolutely adore Catan and play it weekly with a consistent group of friends, but I still love how you presented this game!

Very nice of you to note this Hannah, I always try to treat each video as if this could be a person’s very first board game. Appreciate your kind feedback.

This makes so much sense now. I love Catan and my brother bought me this for Christmas. I’ve read the direction book 3 times and for some reason I just couldn’t wrap my head around it, even though the premise and basic rules are the same as the original Catan. Unfortunately, my brother and dad aren’t big on board games, so after I play the Catan Games a couple times to get the basic down, my mom and I modify them so that two people can play (it usually just means less trading unless we’re rolling really crappy numbers for a few turns in a row). Can’t wait to FINALLY give this one a shot.

Did you try it out as 2player yet, if so did you find any rule alteration to work good? I tried it with the gf last night where we both controlled 2 tribes each but they couldnt trade between them, it still made trading between us very rare, but could just have been the dice was in her favor that round

Question: When resolving an exploration token as in this video, is it only in Africa you can remove a tile?

@@WatchItPlayed Sorry for the misunderstanding. At 16:17, when resolving an exploration token, you put the token in the Africa region. Is this the only region you can put the token? Thanks

@@martinjauer9964 You say "put" the token, but that's not quite right, you "take" the circle token - and yes, it comes from Africa. Hope that helps.

I just didn't get the Hunting progress track. So you just pay to place the "robber" and it cost more every time you do it, until you can't do it anymore outside of rolling a 7?

Thanks Rodney for the clear explanation of this catan game! One question, it's not available yet in the netherlands tho, but does your first three camps count as three Victorypoints you usually start with like in the other Catan games or do you all start 0 victorypoints? Thank you, Huig de Vreugd

Victory points come from the tokens you've collected (21:07), and those initial three camps don't provide any tokens. Hope that helps!
