I think sharks have visable fins as part of thier shadows in the game. Northern hemisphere wont see sharks for a few more months though.

Quick tip:The oarfish (for me) usually comes out the most when it’s raining. Also a strange opinion: The ceolocanth is easy to catch if you know what you’re doing and good wi shadow sizes

I just bought the switch and the game 2 days ago, and with your vid showing it shadow size and straight to the point, I finally caught the blue marlin just now with 45 minutes to spare before April end.. I almost want to give up; just digging and throwing the baits, ignoring the small shadow that appears.. subcribed!

Yes, once you catch a new fish or bug you can then donate it to Blathers in the museum and it will then be displayed in the museum. After that you can sell any duplicates for money. To check what you've donated already little owl icons appear beside the name of each entry in your critterpedia on your nook phone. If the icon for a bug or fish is there but theres not owl icon beside thier name it means you found one but havnt donated one to the museum. Hope this helps. :)

Hear is a story about how I keep caching or fish intill it got annoying so one time I was going on the edge of a bridge to catch some good fish and then it was winter time and I was catching a fish and it was a bill or fish. I don’t need it to the museum and I went back by expecting for me to find some more orifice. I found six on that day and the next day I found I can’t believe it. Oh my god, I caught the coelacanth at my friends island. I’m starting to think BOTH of our islands are rare fish islands, because she has caught an oarfish at her island, and I’ve caught 3 oarfish in one day on my island, so my question is, is there such thing as rare fish islands, or just the circumstances of where and when a fish shows up and a bit of luck? Lol I remember getting really caught off guard when the big text reading, “BLAST FROM THE PAST!” Showed up on my screen, so if you can, maybe clarify that for me, I get the big text because it’s arguably the rarest fish in the game right now, but I don’t get why blast from the past comes before saying, “I caught a coelacanth, [insert pun here]”

I think "A BLAST FROM THE PAST" is because it's a prehistoric fish in real life. Haha nothing to do with the fish in game :P And your own islands will have ALL these fish. When people talk about "rare fish islands" these are islands you can travel to by chance when using a nook miles ticket. They aren't very common and you might not even know you're on one unless you look up what they look like online. :)

It says “Blast form the past” because the coelacanth was species of fish that thrived millions of years ago with the dinosaurs. They were also thought to be extinct fish but the coelacanth was somewhat recently discovered in Africa. also there is no such thing as a rare fish island as a main island, but there might be a rare fish island from a nook miles ticket. What I do believe is that rare fish have all increased in spawn rates because I’ve caught 7 coelacanth, 6 marlin, 2 sturgeon, 3 tuna, around 20 oarfish, 2 barrel-eye, and we’ll you get the point.

Fish bate doesn't affect the rarity of the fish that appears, rather it will just spawn a fish at random with the same chances as shadows without bait. Just speed up the search cause you can make them spawn over and over. I got lucky and got mine in about 15 trys.
