My opinion on how this game currently compares to Fishing Planet. For context I’m currently lvl 17 in COTW: The Angler and 32 in Fishing Planet. Both are fairly realistic, but “COTW: The Angler” is more arcade like for sure, however once you turn the strike indicator off (both the sound and visuals), the game becomes a bit more immersive. However, I still think Fishing Planet is overall a more realistic experience. Despite this, I am enjoying The Angler and excited to see where it goes since it is more causal, and requires less commitment than Fishing Planet, which is a nice change of pace. While The Angler is a lot easier to land a higher average of fish, as really big fish snap your line (or spool you) or the occasionally rocks will also cause a snapped line. The Angler gives a pretty satisfying fight, especially since the pump is a function in this game, so I’m also excited to compare these two games again once the next major update comes out for Fishing Planet. TLDR: COTW: The Angler and Fishing Planet are both great games, you should try both if you haven’t already. To improve immersion in The Angler, turn of both the Strike SFX and Strike Indicator off

The way the fish was floating at the surface of the water…. These type of mechanics and animations are equivalent to a mobile game…. Sure the graphics and world is impressive but that’s about it… sad…this could have been amazing.

@@Creekxs I hope your right, if it really is just bugs and they fix it that would be great. However the game is less than a week out, this isn’t alpha or even beta phase, this is literally the full game with maybe a few minor tweaks to be implemented. So to have some basics of fishing animations and mechanics not included is scary. But I honestly hope your right because this game can be amazing!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I'd expect to see these kind of physics on Nintendo, not PC in 2022 😒 definitely won't be buying this game. Shame because the hunting game was brilliantly done!!

I think I expected way more from this game. From what I've seen it doesn't look that great. The bass didn't even bite it just statically floated to the hook.

@@Creekxs The game isn't releasing as an early access title. It fully releases in 3 days. Sure bugs slip past QA and that's fine it happens but seeing this gameplay when it's supposedly finished leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Maybe it gets better after a few updates but this really isn't acceptable. Even looking at the animations of a fishing rod bending, it's clear to me that it's just a bad game. If I'm going to play a fishing game on Steam I'm just going to go back to Fishing Planet.

For a fishing game, it seems like they put minimal effort in the fishing mechanics. The casting is so bad, reeling it in seems so bad. I hate how your hand just vibrates when reeling it in. Such a shame that the world is actually so beautiful.
