We left St lucie Inlet early with the goal of catching hard fighting Blackfin Tuna. After that we would fish the reef for a nice bag of fish. Florida's Treasure Coast offers world class fishing we can do from my small center console. We started the day drifting for Tuna using flashers and chummy Pilchards to lure them in. Bait was live threadfin herring on the surface and Pilchards down deep. Using light 30 pound Flourocarbon leader was the key to getting strikes. We were able to put a couple beautiful Tuna in the boat and then switched up to fishing the reef. Baits for bottom were Bonito belly strips, ballyhoo plugs, butterflied Goggleyes, and live baits on the surface flat line. Long flourocarbon leaders with Gamakatsu circle hooks were used as rigs. We caught Mahi Mahi, Mutton Snapper, Black Sea Bass, Almaco Jack, and more.
