ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city s a Police Officer and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 1200 breeding ewes.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on KZbin and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Since starting The Sheep Game I have met Lizzy and had two incredible boys Jock and Angus. You will see them all on this channel!

I have sent a complaint to youtube about demonetizing farmers like Cammy and Lizzie vlogs. "Stop demonetizing farmers showing the normal and natural activities around the farm. Animals are going to copulate, give birth natural and surgically to live or dead babies, animal get sick, injured and die. This is all normal and natural. When I chose to watch farming vlogs I accept and understand what I am going to watch. The farmers are doing their work ethically morally respectfully intelligently with professional support by a vet. They deserve their monetization for their work. If people can't watch nature then don't click on the video. Great work in difficult conditions you are not alone , we had to rehouse all doubles on Sunday and everybody is sick of this weather. I may be wrong but I think the term fly tipping comes from the use of a very fast and well sprung carriage during the Regency period and was known as a ' fly by night ' carriage used by Dandy gentlemen to scoot down to Brighton for the fun of the fair, but when driven at high speed on uneven roads would caturpult it occupants out and over the ditch. Keep smiling.

If not for your videos, I might not have had the courage to help my first pregnant ewe have her very first lamb. Nothing coming out but a tiny little tail. Watching you pull lambs, I was pretty confident that I could do it, and it turned out amazing. Ended up with 2 healthy little ewe lambs. KZbin needs to categorize the content of the videos, and farming needs to be classed as educational and allow the videos to be seen without blurring out the bits that are educational! Thanks Cammie. Hi Cammy, I appreciate your vlog so very much. I am a novel shepherd now 14 years with an extremely small flock of only 10 lambing this spring. I am retired and on my own, so I try to keep the work manageable. I agree with other folks, your vlog should be allowed to show all you are doing with no censor, if folks are uncomfortable, then this vlog is not for them. Sheep have lambed outdoors for centuries. It is their natural environment. It is a cleaner setting for them to lamb on grass, rather than indoors, in most cases. Weather cannot be predicted, but that is the case in any type of shepherding, farming, or ranching. And the cost of an indoor confinement for that number of sheep would be astronomical! Few shepherds could afford it. They would “go under”.

Cammy, On lambs like that one that kept "rooting" (searching for the teat) high up on the bag, try kneeling their front legs under the bag. When they reach their head up it should be close to teat height. So basically, teach them to kneel and their rooting reflex 'should' do the hard work for you. Hope this helps with your back and your sanity!😘

Cammy, vets on Google say it's vital to give dextrose intraperoneal before warming up hypoglycemic lambs. I know I'm being a pain in the a$$ but I've been watching Sandi do that for 4 years. It's identical to what you have to do w/newborn humans so their brain gets the glucose it needs to keep respiratory centre going.Takes too long for colostrum to get digested so glucose gets to brain. As a smallholder in my 2nd lambing season, you wouldn't believe how much I am learning from theses lambing vlogs. I really appreciate that you show all the details good bad and ugly. Hi Cammie! I hail from New Plymouth, NZ and my shearer is Matt Denson. I've got a small flock of around 70 ewes and I have quite a few with big teats and it's sure frustrating at the beginning!! Ive had good success with trapping the ewe in a wedge created with a portable gate and lifting the teat up to where the lamb is searching, like you were trying to do, but very hard when the ewe is unrestrained! This way you can have your weight at the back of the ewe holding her in and a free hand to bring the teat to the lamb. The lamb seems to catch on way quicker, as don't they hate having their heads pushed down🙄 Absolutely love your channel!! Our winters are pretty similar to yours and boy it can be depressing, but with a small flock I have the luxury of being able to separate my close lambers out and put them in a maternity paddock with sheds at the ready. All the best with the rest of lambing, you do an amazing job and work so hard!👏💯

In the last 25 years I can probably count on one hand the # of times I have seen stuff dumped on the side of the road in the country. It helps to have community garbage dumps that are free or perhaps free for spring clean-up 🇨🇦

The baby taking the ride on the machine appearing to look around like where is my Mum then so happy to maybe find her oh my gosh. Goat Mums can be like that too. For some reason just don't want them. And it is always quite sad. However having loving humans on their side a wonderful thing. Jock cam always makes me smile so hard!! Appreciate you sharing the efforts Cammy. The tipping isn't as bad in our area not having the same ditch depth. Farmers would see blowing across the field. We have volunteers to pickup anything small or prison workers. The fines are high and most have game cameras looking for coyote or wild dogs. Rest well and hope today started better than expected.

In my part of Canada we see more bags that have blown out of the back of a truck or some such. Less of actual loads of garbage being dumped in a ditch. Maybe it has to do with fees for dumping at the garbage dump? It cost us $8 for a full pickup load at our local dump. Great video and i know exactly how you feel trying to get those lambs sucking. Cammy the nails should go through the ridges rather than the furrows on the roofing. That way the timber underneath hopefully won’t rot. KZbin is simply looking for a reason to cancel revenue in order to pay less. They don’t cancel some similar channels.
