I learn more about catfishing from your videos, than I do at the catfish seminars. Great job, good luck on your next outing. Go catch that 90# + catfish, you're due. Like I've said before, You're the Master......

Man dude I’m not fishing currently at the time, due to health issues but I’ll tell ya love your channel, you make sense, common sense in a boat in the water, alone, always helps to have common sense!! Huh? Well I’ve always wondered about your equipment I appreciate your video today!! Alright keep at it, and be safe!! I learn a lot from your channel!!!

Thanks for the detailed info Catfish Dave! I'm working on rigging my 24' pontoon boat into a fishing machine. Electronics alone will cost more than the boat and trailer did back when I bought it, but staying low on the boat cost helps to allow me to splurge on gear to outfit it for whatever I'd like to do in the future. I appreciate the straight forward advice you offer us! I'm a retired truck driver and noob catfisherman looking forward to enjoying more time on the water.

Good Video. The breakdown and explanations was great. Several years ago you did a similar video which helped me with a reel selection, the Diawa Seagate, and I haven’t been disapointed yet. Hope to see more of these in the future.

Thanks for the briefing Dave. I hope your down time is minimal. It is always better to have the down time in your driveway than out on the water.

I've been waiting for this equipment video! Well done!! My Tracker Grizzly is set up similarly, but I'd rather have a hull like yours for the extra freeboard and easier entry in rough water or when facing large wakes in the Intra-Coastal Waterway. I agree with the tiller outboard on a 16-17' open boat for the extra deck space. I walked away from a lot of center consoles for this reason. You always manage to put out great information. New folks coming into this sport only need to learn from your videos and they'll be on the fish in short order (if the fish are there).

Yep Dave, this is what makes you the best ... Having the gear, AND knowing how to use it . Most guys go for "the flavor of the week" . Generally because it costs more and good for "the picture". lol Good video, and teaching experience . :)

Same thing as my dad has his is just a little older and its fourteen feet long but the same width as the sixteen footer. He didnt take it out all last year he mostly fished the shallow river and didnt want to go up on some rocks. He actually has two canoes that he built into a catamaran with chairs he built so four people can sit comfortably. He built a trailer for it that tilts down when you pull a lever. It uses a gas motor and a trolling motor plus two canoe paddles.

Dave, this is an excellent video! Quick question: Can you talk about your experiences with your electronics? You have hands-on experience using the stuff; if I try to get information, I talk to some kid who has only memorized talking points. Did you install your electronics yourself? Which transducer did you change out? Do the signals from the transducers interfere with each other? Etc. Dave, if my outboard needs attention, 50 shops around here can work on it, but if I have a problem with my electronics (and I do), good luck finding someone who will deal with it. Thanks again, Dave, for all your time and attention in composing these videos.

I'm not only an old fisherman I'm an old technology geek, too. I've not had the opportunity to mess with fish finders since the early 80s and they've come a long way since then which is an understatement. I want to play around and learn those new ones so bad. Who has one of the newer ones with the bells and whistles and is it handy enough to satisfy you?

Nice house, dude! Fishing must pay well. 😀Is it just me or does that new net make you work a lot harder to lift a big fish out of the water, because of the longer length of the net. You seem to have to lift the net a lot higher to clear the side of the boat. I'm thinking the ole back is getting more strain.
