Being alone isn't the whole answer. I've learned a lot as an American woman living in Italy about safety. Ladies, put bars on your windows & doors & roll down locking steel shutters. Have real time surveillance connected to a reliable security service. If you can't live in a gated community with full time security use high walls or steel gates around your property. Also it never hurts to get a well trained guard dog and a firearm. Italians take every precaution and that's why these types of crimes are extremely rare. I know it sounds crazy to most Americans but it's been the Italian way for thousands of years.

From the FBI (on serial killers): "The interpersonal traits [of serial killers] include glibness, superficial charm, a grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, and the manipulation of others. The affective traits include a lack of remorse and/or guilt, shallow affect, a lack of empathy, and failure to accept responsibility." Brian Steven Smith showed every single one of these traits in this interview and imo is a psychopathic serial killer. Firmly believe there are more victims in Alaska and more victims in South Africa.
@sophon238
@sophon238 26 күн бұрын
There are so many people like him. You see them practically everywhere tbh, there's always some guy or woman that thinks they're so charismatic that they can manipulate everyone into getting favors and whatever they want. And if people don't check them they become an obsessive manipulator, it becomes the default setting.
@ismayonnaiseaninstrumentt
@ismayonnaiseaninstrumentt 26 күн бұрын
@@sophon238 yes, anyone can manipulate! But not every manipulator kills. That's what I find so interesting. I believe there are more victims (specifically, women of color) in both Alaska and South Africa. The way he described indigenous Alaskans was weird to me. It wasn't admiration... it was a serial killer's fetishization.

This killer is depraved. He is the epitomy of evil. The fact that he sits there denying everything and spouting fictitious nonsense is quite astounding. If someone is capable of such heinous acts they are capable of even more. For these vulnerable victims to fall prey to this beast is so very sad. Taunted and tortured all the while knowing that they wouldn't make it. Thankfully he's locked up for the rest of his life. However as far as I'm concerned his sentence is a holiday in comparison to what he put his victims through and the trauma his actions have left behind.

Best crime interview I can remember. This man Smith is from my country 🇿🇦. I hope he’s being investigated in South Africa. He is truly evil personified. Whoever is watching, and who knows Brian Steven Smith (sounds like a Jo’burg accent), let us know if you’ve come across hm. Monster.

He lived in the same city as I do and ironically worked for a time at a place that makes head stones for graves. I never met him, but I know someone who did and to put it mildly, it wasn't a pleasant situation.

Sometimes when I watch interview with suspects or killers I can't tell if they're lying or telling the truth. This piece of work can't even lie. Awkward to watch his chaotic babbling. Living the journalist tho!

It’s amazing that he worked up the nerve to lie with all the outstanding evidence that was against him. The recordings were just the icing on the cake if the detectives weren’t lying for a confession which I doubt. & the journalist is amazing! Love how he challenged every lie, and attempt to seem innocent! This journalist knows how to counter a narcissist very well absolutely shut him down with the quickness. Not an ounce of empathy or remorse for any of his victims. It was still all about him even during this interview. What a tool
