First of all watch MIDNIGHT QUILT SHOW. Second, my son and dil are not big fans of my quilts, but my dear little grandson. He loves everything I'm sewing for him, because I always tell him, I sew for him because I love him so much. Recently he said to a t-shirt I made for him:" Granny, my whole life I wanted to have this shirt." He's 3 years old.

I have a 29 year old son who I call extremely quilt worthy. He has used my quilts on his bed since he was 10 years old, still using same ones. He bought a special quilt rack which he puts in his living room displaying several new ones, and he has hanging in his entry way an art quilt I finished. That’s what I call quilt worthy!!!

I would say so! Kudos to your son. A LOT of people don't appreciate handmade gifts and I would say the majority are men. You have a special one there and he is blessed to have a mom that makes him so many treasures. I have never owned a handmade quilt and have a disability that prevents me from making my own but you can bet that I so appreciate the art. :)

For real.... Nothing like giving someone a quilted gift, and feeling like they don't really appreciate it! But then there is the person that is so appreciative of the gift. Three years ago, I made my dear father-in-law a quilt. He seriously will not use another blanket... just his quilt. That makes it ALL worth it!

@@tanyacampbell5544 I know the feeling. I made a queen size Hawaiian applique quilt by hand for someone who turned around and folded it up to use as a dog bed. But I also make fabric tissue holders for a bereavement charity I work with and hear from years later from the folks who got them how meaningful and special it was for them, and that feel so lovely!

Truly my favorite tutorials to watch. I so appreciate this tutorial - I've always wondered how cathedral windows were sewn. It looks so doable, I'm excited to give it a go!

Once I made a quilt ( not a huge one or expensive) I made it with left over pieces from a previous quilt. I took it into work to show it and one girl absolutely went crazy for it. Was hugging it and making over it. I just gave it to her it made me happy that the person who got it was in love with it.

It's good to gift someone with something who'll appreciate it for years to come. My mom used to make quilts by hand only, looking like she did it by hand. I'm the baby girl so, I picked up the craft of making different crafty items. Also, I like making clothes.

I love the... "My coworker is having a baby shower three days from now. Can you whip me up a crib sized quilt? What do you need like $30-$40 dollars?" Lol, I can't even pick the pattern and fabric in three days and $30 might buy half of the materials if I buy the cheapest fabric, batting, and thread I can find.

If you know anything about sewing, then you MUST watch Angela Walters! She is More than awesome! And she's also quite humorous! I HAVE to make one of these. I'll want to keep it for myself, but it will probably end up as a gift for one of those (shudder!) Non Quilters! I need more fabric for this pillow. All I need to do is mention to my husband that I need fabric and he springs into action! He's more than willing to drive me to my fave quilt shop here in Ohio that is a 3-hour drive from our house. When we get there, he always tells me to have fun and buy what I want. Amazing, right? I'm perfectly capable of driving myself there, but he enjoys going with me. We make a day of it. Watch Angela! You will LOVE her!

Every Sunday I eat in this little diner with my sister and her husband. I give the woman who waits on us, and two other servers gifts for Christmas. Last year our main server received a quilt, and this year the other woman received her quilt, and next year the last lady (now the last lady really never waits on us, but I really like her so I include her into my mission). I made a lot of other handmade things for them too, tote bags, wristlets, zippered pouches, coin purses you name it for those who didn't get a quilt. I do it because I get great joy out of watching them open their gifts and seeing their faces. I never count how much I spent on any of it because I can't place a value on friendship and love. corny but true.

I adore the Midnight Quilt Show because Angela is such a brilliant, and inspiring teacher who remains down to earth and understanding at all times. I have learnt so much from her this year, despite having been a quilter for thirty years. Until I found MQS, all my quilts were hand quilted and now thanks to Angela, MQS and her free Quilting Alongs, I am becoming confident with free motion quilting and, while I cannot match Angela's artistry and precision, I am very pleased with the results I am getting. Thank you, Angela. You are awesome!

My first, and so far only quilt, I made for a friends daughter who was having a baby so I made her a cot quilt. It took a lot of time and effor and when I had finished it I really didn't want to give it away! However, I know that this quilt has been appreciated because I often see it in pictures that appear on social media. Also my first quilt has made it all the way from Dorset, UK to Kuala Lumpa where the young couple are now living and who have just recenlty had another baby so I am feeling that I need to make that little one a quilt also so will be looking out of fabric to make another. Happy quilting!

I have the OPPOSITE situation. I make a lot of quilts for Project Linus and they are cheerful, colorful and special (read fabulous!) even if they are for donation. A lot of them are big, for the older children. I have a neighbor whose niece was having a baby and I told her she could pick one of the two quilts I had just finished. She loved and wanted BOTH of them. She wanted to pay me, but she's a neighbor, so I let her pay me just $1 when she insisted. I couldn't believe I gave her two quilts after the many, many hours and $$ that went into them. She told our other neighbors about it and I ended up making a bunch of neighbors' grandkid quilts. But I feel so appreciated, so it's all worth it!

She does not stress perfection, but completion, gives clear and simple instructions for you to follow and demonstrates quilting on her home sewing machine. OMG you took the thoughts right out of my brain and spit them out. Yes, some people are loved but not quilt worthy. I think most people dont realize the hard work that goes into designing, sewing and "birthing" a quilt, let alone the expense and labor involved. Quilters hearts as well as hands are involved. We want gush and repeat gush!! A test gift is the best way to avoid disappointment. You're absolutely right on the mark, Angela. Enjoyed this and your other videos so much. Truth is always funnier than fiction. I've been wanting to make a cathedral window for nearly a decade but it looked like a challenge. Will definitely give this pillow a try as a test for the possibility of making a quilt in the near future.

Yes!!! So true! I made a quilt for a friend's bday. Spent so much time on it... included tons of embroidery. Added a poem about friendship etc etc etc. Everyone that saw it as I was making it wanted it! They said she would break down in tears when she saw it....Well I gave it to her and her response? ..."the size is perfect". That's it! Oh well definitely not QW!

Since I am a seasoned quilter, I love the way you speed up the video to get those seams stitched quickly and get on to the next step. I don’t often have much time and this way I get to see the entire project finished in 10-15 minutes! Love the comments and advice about making quilts for those who truly appreciate them. Have you read the childrens’ book “The Quiltmakers Gift”? I will be retiring soon and my retirement goal is to make as many quilts as possible before I die and give them all away to charity and people who need them!

I love watching, just to see what you are making and wish to be, at least, average. I ENJOY THE BLEEPING HECK OUT OF WATCHING YOU CREATE. I'm just bleeping saying. 🤾‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️🤸‍♀️❣ On another note, thank you for putting it out there! It is truly hurtful when your hard work goes unappreciated. Non-quilters/sewers really don't understand the time, energy, money, back, neck, & hand pains that we endure when putting so much love into a handmade gift, especially a quilt. A lot if recipients devalue your gifts. They don't understand that it takes a lot of brain work to get those squares accurately sized and seams to line up right. I am a new quilter/sewist/crafter and I absolutely love it, so much peace in my happy place. Enough of my rant. Love to all crafters, sewists, and you amazing quilters!

I have a friend in Colorado that made this "Cathedral Window" pillow for a sister-in-law who also didn't appreciate it. A year ago, my friend said to me, "Gosh, Vicki, I wish I had it in me to make another one for myself!!" What a wonderful video, Angela, you knocked it out of the park. I have always wanted a bed quilt made in this pattern but that was in the days of hand sewing all those curves. First, I want to make this pillow for my girlfriend. She will be so shocked and happy. In the meantime, have your friend visit her sis-in-law, look at that pillow, & say, " Oh, I just love that pillow! I was always going to make one for myself, too. But when I think of all that work, & all those hours I put into it, I just can't bring myself to make another." Then she hugs the pillow. This will do two things: Let the SIL know how much work went into the project and possibly shame her into appreciating the gift. And 2: If she still doesn't appreciate the gift after that, she might offer it back, when she sees how much the maker loves it. ;-) win-win, bc if she doesn't love it, may as well have it back (but of course, it would be rude to ask, but quilters, as a rule, are not rude, even when recipients ARE rude by showing lack of appreciation.)

The rant at the end cracked me up. Yes, I think we have all been there... we spent days or even weeks planning the perfect quilt, weeks or months making it, gift it with that tingling feeling inside, waiting for the oohs and ahhs... to get bumpkiss. I made my grandbaby a quilt, mom opened it, never even unfolded it, tossed it aside and was like NEXT gift. Have seen loads of pics of a crap tied fleece blanket gift on her Facebook pics with captions.. never ONE pic of the quilt that I spent months making, ripping anything that was not PERFECTLY matched and resewing... I could have made 3 quilts in the time I spent making that one perfection. Well... guess who's getting a 30 min soft book for Christmas. Some People have no concept. On the flip side, I had a wonky never finished it quilt that I turned into a fast baby quilt for a co worker, you know one of those what will I ever do with this "error" quilt.... and the woman cried with joy! She was overcome and said "omg, you MADE this for ME". Other people.. thank you coworker... DO indeed get it... so alas, I am still a quilter. Ha ha

This is an amazing project! I also did iron on transfers of old pictures I printed out onto the charm squares, to make it kind like a usable photo album. I have never quilted before, this was awesome and makes me want to do more!

When my Dad was seriously ill in the ICU, I put a quilt on his bed.....he ended up calling it the Healing Quilt and uses it all the time. Needless to say, he has gotten a few more!!!

I want to say thank you for this Video. I love cathedral window quilt style. I have always done it with huge squares ironing and blind stitch by hand, long and tedious. Now you have shown me a quick way to get a very similar result so that I can now make more projects so thank you so very much. ❤️❤️

This is a beautiful quilt and I have the pattern for it and that may be my next quilt to make for myself. I made quilts for my family and now I have my eyes on this patter for a long time now. I love your instructions and you taught me something that I couldn't figure out until I saw your explanations. Thank you.

Your delightful! I’m done many crafts in my lifetime, even a few 4x4 square quilts. No real piecing involved. This year I plan to really get in the good stuff. You’re videos are fun and very informative! Thank you so much!

This pillow looks very hard and you made it look really fun! There is nothing better than giving a handmade gift to someone who appreciates it and loves it more than you did when you were making it for them 💕 I know we’ve all had our share of the opposite reactions, too. Those usually don’t end up on the nice list for more handmade gifts 😁

I made a quilt for my sister as a gift and gave it to her at the baby shower. It was my very first quilt and turn out very nice. Lots of piecing and embroidery work. About 6 months later she had it out in her yard with the baby on it! It wasn't meant to be in the grass and dirt! It was so stained, I'm sure she never got it clean. Oh well, she never received another one from me. I now only give them as gifts to people who know how much time goes into one.

Oooh, I never made anything with this pattern, as I remember my Grandmother taking nearly a year to laboriously hand sew it all, and I thought it was too hard and complicated for me to do. This makes it easy....cool beans! As for gifting, years ago I worked so hard on a quilt for my niece, paid to have it machine quilted, and the next time I was at the house I found it on the floor with the dog laying on it. Crossed them off the quilt list really quick. :)

That would be a fear for me too. I am a serious animal person, but I would be hurt if someone gave a quilt I made for them to their dog. ... not that I wouldn't make their dog a quilt. Really, dogs are all quilt-worthy.

I just wanted to say that I am the proud new owner of a Cathedral Window Pillow!!!!! It was a challenge, but I am super proud of it! I made it for my daughter and she loves it! Will be making another one for my other daughter this weekend. :). Thanks so much! ~Nicole

I had to watch this twice because you had me in "stitches" (get it?) the first time around. I made one of these quite a few years ago and it was fun, but I'm just going to have to make another to give as a "test gift" to a non-quilting friend I love. Thanks so much for the video and the great fun I plan to have as a result of this energetic video!!!
