I mean how much delay was there between Lelouch having his brother free the terroists and lelouch killing him off in the first episode about 15 seconds, without angst. The 15 seconds was lelouch reintroduceing himself to clovis, clovis begging for his life, and lelouch blowing his brains in. I suppose Clovis's beging for his life, could be seen as angsty.

On the note of having to go one way or the other, otherwise there's no point, you can actually be truly neutral. In the true neutral ending Vincent ends up with no girl, instead he makes tons of money betting on women's wrestling and then pursues his dream of going to space. The final image of the game in that ending is of Vincent on the moon, living the high life which is a lot cooler, in my eyes, than any of the other endings.

There's an scene where two characters are wrestling over a gun in a very tense and suspenseful fight when one of them gets the gun, aims it at the other then... an episode and a half flashback to him on a farm or some bullshit. That show did _not_ understand pacing.

Spoilers ahead, don't read ahead if you haven't played the game. Alright, they gone? Alright, let's talk. What I really liked about Catherine was the Final Boss, Dumazid, AKA Thomas Mutton AKA Boss AKA THE FUCKING BARTENDER. When I found that out, I was just baffled at how fucking clever this guy was. This guy puts all the other villains to shame. While other villains make it painstakingly obvious when they're going to betray you, like they talk about how awesome it is to be evil and stuff, Thomas actually puts up a great mask, and let me tell you, I don't think ANYONE suspected the fucking Bartender. Also, the game has GREAT music, The Empireo being some of the best. Something I don't really get is why people would think the "Freedom" ending is the good ending. Yes, Catherine is hot as fuck, but she's not only a Succubus and evil, SHE TRIED TO MURDER YOU. IN COLD BLOOD. I, personally, enjoy seeing Vincent going with Katherine. Yes, she's not the best person. But she might be able to knock some sense into this guy, she basically tells him that he needs to learn how to make his own decisions, and be dependent on and for someone who isn't himself. Besides, if Catherine never entered his life, none of this shit would've happened to him, and I don't think he enjoyed that. In fact, he fucking hated it. So for him to be like, "Yeah, I think I'll just marry the bitch who put me through this hell." makes little sense. Also, how either Thomas Mutton or Catherine survived their dream fights, I'll never know. They just sort of... DO.

Well, one can make an argument either way. I, personally, dislike Katherine's True Ending because Vincent says 'I'm nothing without you', which, while it's very romantic and all, is actually a very unhealthy attitude to have to marriage. On the other hand, in Catherine's True Ending he makes it clear that although they'll be married they can still each do their own thing - and if anything he shows way more commitment to Catherine by saving her from falling off a cliff, putting his own life on the line in the process, and fighting off monsters to defend her, and finally becoming the new king of the Netherworld. That is both true love AND metal as fuck.

Stolanis I honestly liked Katherine's true ending, he shows he really does love her and risks his life to protect her and goes to even greater lengths to fix everything. I mean Stolanis is right but then again, look at our protagonist. I hate to be cruel and say it but he's a dim witted loser who through some miracle found an attractive woman who puts up with it to a degree. Once the plot kicks in he messes up BADLY and Katherine's TE route has him realize he is holding her back, he is a burden and the realization makes him man up and do what he has to, to fix the problem and save the relationship. Including risking his life to save her, and then again to fight for her. I honestly favored the Katherine TE because it just feels right. Our guy was living a rather self destructive life-style and unless he can take over the netherworld ala Catherine's TE and do whatever he likes, he had better get his shit together. xD The one ending where he picks neither and lives alone happily isn't bad either.

I actually liked Catherine, sure Vincent is a bit of a bastard for just sitting there like a duck in water and just blurting out more lies (I sat there shouting: "JUST TELL HER ALREADY") and yes the controls were reversed when you're dangling over the block (I'm not saying how many times I died because of that). But the story is pretty unique and those choices that you have in the game really do have an effect on you (Well it effected me anyway). I'm probably saying this because I play video games to escape real life problems :/

You know people keep on whining about vincent being too nervous to tell somebody they're already engaged, but in reality they'd probably be the same amount of a fuckup. I mean I think people are really underestimating how powerful fear is to fucking up your mental process. The guy hardly knows how to take care of himself and yet you expect him to be able to form a mature conversation on how to break up? Do you guys even know what it's like to break up-oh wait no, you don't otherwise you wouldn't be here. The problem is there was literally nothing TO break up, at the beginning. It didn't even qualify as a one night stand, since I'm pretty sure he didn't actually sleep with her. I don't think it's UNrealistic that he spilled spaghetti all over the place, but when he started getting said axe murderer vibes he had means, opportunity, and all kinds of motive to split like a pair of pants. That he didn't is evidence that he deserves every bad ending he gets in the process.

When thing that's really interesting in retrospect is the fact that Catherine was created as a proof of concept for the game engine that would eventually be used in persona 5, another interesting aspect is when you look at the characters in Catherine and then the characters in persona you can see quite a few of the characters they were apparently used as inspiration. The main character--kamoshida Katherine--Nigema Catherine--Ann There's even references to Catherine in persona 5 and persona Q

Anime is... polarized I suppose is the word. On one side you have Spirited away and the Wolf Children; slow paced emotional epics with heart in every sentence. On another side you have digimon, ridiculous explosion fests. Then you have the errr... more niche stuff. Well none of it's dull that's for sure.

Just like all mediums: movies, books, tv shows, etc. anime is a medium. There's different genres and many different types of stories within those genres. In all mediums there are those that are just generic and overdone to hell (in games it's generic shooters, in anime it's slice of life romances in a school with harem and fanservice, etc) but then there are the really really good gems that are masterpieces and make u continue watching to find more really good ones.

It's not the first time he's done it. In his HAZE review, he referenced Shinji's survival mantra ("I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away, I mustn't run away...") when talking about the game's main character In his Guitar Hero World Tour review, he mentioned NGE by name when talking about custom tracks. Not sure why he chose to reference one of the most infamous parts of End of Evangelion for this review though...........

Either I am exceptionally good at puzzle games or Yahtzee is terrible at them because from memory I had no trouble with them. On another note, I have to say that butt monster was terrifying. I actually threw myself off of the map before it had a chance to get me whenever it was close.

Honestly I think it has more to do with "Timed Mission + Puzzle Solving" that makes it difficult, putting a timer and rushing players will make a puzzle all the more difficult. So I'd say you're really good xD If I didn't have to worry about hauling blocks AND ass I'd say the game was easy like Portal 1+2 xD

***** The puzzles were pretty hard for me cause of the time limit. I'd recommend using like the easiest difficulty and I guess the pillow exploit. If you grab the pillows you get extra lives and they respawn if you die. You can keep doing it for like 99 lives. The best way for you to try and beat it is to like play the puzzles in a Trial and Error style. Just keep trying pieces till something clicks. Not exactly the most fun way to play but it helped me earn one of the endings on my first play through.

Wildpaw0 haha I say you made the right choice (has seen all the boss death scenes and its heartbreaking) As for others not being able to beat it, I recommend a crazy idea. Play it on hard mode. I am dead serious. I played it on hard mode straight off the bat and beat the game. Was it easy? FUCK NO! I DIED OVER 147 TIMES! However dying about 50 times on the first level trains you to be faster, quicker, and to improvise while optimizing the strats you already came up with. The beauty of the puzzles is there is no one way to do it. Sometimes a fuck up or a smart move you did earlier will actually effect what blocks you need to push at the end for better or for worse. playing it on easier difficulties is what is going to screw you in the later levels, because you haven't mastered the basics the tutorial told you about in the first levels (yes the tutorials are fucking helpful in this game and you use EVERY block tip they give you in some way or another) which Hard mode forces you to do before you move on. Another pro tip is to actually talk and listen to the sheep in between stages who are strategizing on how to win, who are always on the left side of the red carpet in a group, sometimes other sheep will give important tips too. (I found that super cool how that was done) At the start I really sucked at this game which bruised my ego but like yatzhee, I grit my teeth, resisted the urge to throw my controller and focused on getting higher one block at a time and by the end of it, I was a block pushing solving machine which was so rewarding that I can't even describe. So remember fellow sheep brothers/sisters, review all the block pushing tips and master them. See ya at the top.

Why I feel the day segments of the game were actually absolutely necessary, is that it IS in fact not 'gameplay' in a sense. It is more of an interactive story segment that pushes the plot forward as it tailors to your decisions which the night segments gameplay then infers from , or at the very least creates an illusion for doing so which is enough for me, as well as give me a friggin BREAK from those nerve-wrecking tense night segments. As much as I loved and quickly got addicted to the puzzle gameplay no denying that it mentally drains you and the bar segments of the game were a much needed laid-back rest and breath of fresh air. On an unrelated point I'd just like to add that reaching the top of a puzzle as you ring that bell and hear that heavenly choir sing hallelujah is one of the most satisfying and relieving feelings I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing :D

I am not proud that I played through this game before, but the experience isn't totally bad. it's just the message that Japan was sending about men being like Sheep and Women being like Wolves... or is that Foxes? well, whichever... I'd honestly play it again to see the game's story and how it pans out differently despite the shitty aspects of it. The puzzle solving was good!

Yathzee's line about how it's best to go all out in the morality system is actually more or less wrong, since while it's true that two endings have Vincent actually losing both girls and ending up single, in the two he actually ends up okay with the idea of being single, and accept the fact that maybe he's just not ready yet, if at all, for a long term relationship. And yes, in one of them, he wins the lottery and goes to space, so there's that.

All the endings are really cool. Order is a really happy ending for literally everyone, Chaos is Vincent and Catherine become archdevils, and True Neutral is going off to live in space.

I liked the true neutral ending too, because it's the only ending where Katherine gets to move on and be with someone who actually loves her. Vincent through every character arch, even "order", is completely selfish to the core, and him being alone to do his own thing instead of leeching off everyone seemed to be the best outcome.
