About the PARAISO: Bright Beginnings Project:
Within the slums of Tondo, Manila is one of the largest garbage collecting areas in the city. Families survive day to day with minimum resources with one of the main sources of livelihood being scavenging through the toxic trash for recyclables. Often an education for the children is not an achievable reality. That’s what the PARAISO Project aims to change - a “paraiso” for every child. Giving a child an education gives them a chance to aspire and develop their talents. Through education, we can work towards breaking the cycle of poverty in Tondo not only for the children themselves, but also for their families. Funds raised through the Paraiso Bright Beginnings Project will go towards the procurement and renovation of a 3-storey building that will become the new Preschool and Childcare Center for the children of Smokey Mountain.

About the Young Focus Organization:
Young Focus is a non-government organization started in 1992 in the Netherlands by Paul and Ann van Wijgerden that came to the Philippines in 2008. It is based in the ‘Smokey Mountain’ area of Manila and strives to give underprivileged children and young people the chance to develop themselves by means of education and personal coaching. As of now, Young Focus has more the 1,000 students in their programs that cater from preschool up to college.
