CBGB: Hilly Meets The Ramones 2013 Movie Scene

It's a pretty good movie. Rickman was GREAT as Hilly! One thing I found missing was an actor playing the magnificent Willy DeVille of Mink DeVille. You can hear Willy and the band in several musical cuts throughout the film but you never get to see them. I was a BIG fan of Mink DeVille back in 79-81. Saw them play live at every chance from Boston to NYC. I even went to GBGB's one night after hearing a rumor that Mink DeVille would be playing. But nope. No live music started there until about 2 AM and I wasn't willing to endure the stench of that joint for 3 hours waiting. It REALLY did stink in there. GBGB's was a filthy wreck of a bar just right for punks in 1979. I was there. I survived. lol

They didn't even have this look yet when they started playing at CBGB, lol (not even on their first FILMED CBGB show). They had more songs already, their first two were "I don't care" and "Here today, gone tomorrow", (it's well know but Mickey Leigh says it on his book). It's not called "I wanna sniff some glue", it's called "NOW I wanna sniff some glue". And so on... But OK, it's just a movie.

@@sensacionsombria5125 Mikey Leigh says in his book, that "I don't care" was Joey's first song ever written, influenced by "I'm eighteen" by Alice Cooper. Followed by "Here today gone tomorrow", written a few days later. Technically those were the first Ramones songs ever written, but yeah, maybe no the first ones to be rehearsed.

This movie was all over the place and should have been better written but it was kinda cool to see what it “might have been like” in cbgb’s heyday.
