He's right about all of it. Police are useless in recovering stolen property. I've had two experiences with stolen vehicles in Fort Worth, the first was 41 years ago. The police couldn't be bothered. They told us to go look for it, when we found it, we called them, they told us to just drive it away. Good luck with that, the thief had the only keys. The second case they claimed was a "civil" matter because the thief was also a company employee. So they couldn't be bothered. Wouldn't even file a report despite phone calls and visits. Why, if you didn't know better, you'd almost think police have a symbiotic relationship with criminals.

Had a friend buy a old cab for some body parts from a guy and he found a old insurance card stuck in the glovebox and contacted the original owner trying to get a title instead of the bill of sale, found out it was stolen guy gave him investigators number in Houston he called investigators numerous times only got one call back and years later cab and body parts still in pasture have heard nothing since, cops are not there to protect anybody besides themselves

12 detectives for 15,000 thefts, that's over 1000 cases per man.

They don't ever really actively look for the cars. They just file reports when they're made. And do the real pursuing when something comes along that gives them a definite hard lead. Like those 1000 cases. If something happens in Burleson that the Burleson police make an arrest, like arresting somebody in possession of a stolen car, then Dallas will just add their cases info to the Burleson case. Those Dallas cops were never intending to track anything down in Burleson. They would only actively do something if the majority of those 1000 cases pointed to a common location in Dallas.

Dallas PD is a complete joke. Has been for years. You call 911 for an in progress theft and it takes AN ENTIRE DAY for a cop to show up, if they show up at all. I moved my business to Richardson bc I got so fed up with Dallas Police lack of doing fucking anything about crime.

Back in the 80's I was a drilling superintendent for an independent oil company and had a bunch of drill pipe stolen. The sheriff, no help. The DPS, no help. Called the Texas Rangers (NOT the baseball team) and he came out and said, "I'll have something for you soon." THE NEXT DAY HE HAD THE PIPE, THIEF AND my gratitude!

DPD is trash! my 85 monte carlo ss was stolen out of my storage friday evening, i reported it that night and i ended up finding it the next morning going in every apartment complex around the storage unit. I called them to let them know i found it out so they wouldnt pull me over thinking i stole it and they started questioning me as if i had something to do with it, made no sense why they were questioning me the way they were, so i told them you all can leave while i wait on the tow truck.

What the news reporters said at the end is the big issue. Yes leave the insurance to pay you off, but what happens when so many cars are being paid off to rampant theft, insurance rates go up! They’re already high enough as it is living here in Dallas

That's about it. Dallas pd is not the best... took 2 hrs to get there...

Not saying ALL police depts are bad. But ours in our city is kinda OFF. I had an old & nasty bike that was stolen when I was 13yrs old, reported it stolen to police. Would you believe I was finally contacted by them 9 YEARS LATER?!?! They asked if I wanted to come down & collect my bike. I was already in my 20s and driving. Wth? LOL I just laughed an hung up.
@Fjk2134
@Fjk2134 15 күн бұрын
For them to call you nine years later most likely your bike was involved in a crime with someone that used it to do something illegal. Your bike for the nine years was either hidden in someones home for years or sold from crackhead to crackhead for years. But for them to actually sit there and pin point it to you means they had to have dug deep,investigate about the bike and the person that was last with the bike.

Departments are putting it in writing they don't care about stolen cars. Look at all the departments that can't pursue a stolen car if it flees from a traffic stop. They say "its what the public wants. It's just a property crime." If the public is upset about it, tell your local police departments.

Why you may ask? Because when the government fails to protect the people then the people have a right to protect themselves and each other. The very principle of the government is to protect the people and ensure basic rights and safety. The real question to ask is why have a government and why have a police force in Dallas if they're not going to serve the people?

More than 18,000 vehicles were stolen in Dallas in 2023, an all-time high that represents a dramatic surge from the year before and made motor vehicle theft Dallas' most common crime in 2023, according to the Dallas Police Crimes Analytics Overview. How many police detectives does DPD have? Dallas city council voted to defund the police department, which they did.

This advice is one of the problems with the country. The police and left want everyone to just be a willing victim that participates in the crime by doing nothing. When American men stopped going into the street to confront the problems, the wolf packs started to grow and increase their feedings. This trend started in the 90's and has grown to epidemic proportions. Now when a guy hears a problem on their street, they are too busy peeping out the blinds to fight for what is right and what is righteous. Good on this chap - he took a stand and refused to continue to be a victim, and he did it without bloodshed, though I am sure he was prepared for whatever resistance that may have been given. Politicians want us to be victims because it increases their power and their budgets. (60% of all crime is performed by the same 80% of criminals. The catch and release system of the judges and DA's only fortify their roles in government.) Choose not to be a victim if you are an able-bodied man.

Sounds like he has State Farm insurance, I had them when my truck was stolen in 2017. I had basic full coverage which had comprehensive coverage, and I asked if it covered theft when I purchased the coverage. The guy who stole it was caught driving it the very same day as i reported it just hours after he stole it, by then he had already removed the stereo, speakers, amplifier, and other personal items like my pool cue stick with custom carry case. It took Ft Worth police 3 weeks to let me know my truck was recovered and had been in impound for 3 weeks, I called State Farm to report what was lost and was told that nothing was covered not even the damage to the steering column. I dropped State Farm and now have insurance with The Hartford and all the coverage I was told I had with State Farm. I will never go back to State Farm again and avoid Progressive like the plague.

In a bad economy, a job as a cop could be something that entices people to apply. The famous quote, "that's why it takes 2 years to get a cosmetology license, but you can make the through the police academy in 6 months...". It doesn't take long to become a cop. And the salary can be pretty good. But cops and their refusal to police themselves turns off people from ever considering becoming cops.

Totally agree about the police and their attitude concerning car thefts. What I want to know is what the hell kind of insurance did he have that doesn't cover car theft?! Since when?!? Especially when we're talking about a car that is clearly a hot ticket item!!! Sounds to me like he made a compromise on his coverage in order to be able to afford the car and insurance. Not a good decision at all if that was the case imo. Just saying...

Had a storage unit broken into and tools stolen. Deputy that showed on scene told me not to look for them. I actually recovered a fair amount just walking in the field near the fence that was cut. Thieves had dropped some in the grass. I get that most stolen property is simply going to disappear. Just the nature of the crime. But apparently walking 150 feet is just too much effort 🤦🏻

A person hit my vehicle and drove off. The vehicle was black, so I never noticed until I got in the light. The cop had to come out 3 times because he forgot key facts for the police report. The driver was never charged for a hit-and-run. I was told by the police, they had better things to do besides solving my hit-and-run. Later that night, I solved my own case. There was part of a tail light cover laying in the street. I connected it to a vehicle across the street. Then, since we had the same insurance company, they at first refused to pay. I made sure the car repair shop replaced parts that didn't need replacing, since the insurance company was so crappy about paying the claim. DO NOT BUY BLACK CARS. It was 8 days old when it was hit.

But they were too busy. DPD can say whatever it wants, but cars are no longer $3,500, they are tens of thousands of dollars, and the loss will not be fully reimbursed by insurance companies.
