@@Mark-pz3lq - nope. If that is what you attract to you, then change your mindset. Plenty of women cannot be bought. You projected your beliefs on to women. You're admitting to not giving women a chance because you assume they "want money." Because of your beliefs, you won't give a woman who wants you for you a chance. You'll do your best to change her until she reflects your sour belief system. Dave's wife was with him *before* he made it big so your beliefs are yours alone. Stop spreading hatred for women. No woman wants a man who is as angry and bitter as you come across.

I love this story about his sister and her waking up with Prince's guitar pick clenched in her hands while she slept. I get it. Prince had a truly powerful effect on me as a 12 year old girl. He stood out from other men with a message of female empowerment, not to mention the sheer virtuosity and prolific output of his music. He meant the world to me too. His loss still hurts me something terrible on certain days. Prince was very deliberate. I think he very consciously wanted to show people that a big girl was just as worthy of his attention and love as any other woman. "You don't have to be rich to be my girl, you don't have to be cool, to rule my world..." He liked his supermodels no doubt, but he appreciated it when people showed him *genuine* kindness, respect and love. I'm very happy Dave's sister was given such a wonderful memory by Mr. Nelson.

Dave’s right about moments. I took my 7yr old son to a soccer game when I was stationed in Germany and on comes teen phenom Christian Pulisic literally a few feet in front of us (we were 2nd row from grass). So I yelled something like-“c’mon Christian we’re here to see u from America!” The German spectators looked at us. A few minutes later he scores a goal and ran straight at us to celebrate. That’s a great memory for my son who’s now 11.

The reason I like Dave Chappelle is because he seems so down-to-earth and human when he talks to people, even when he's performing. He's really funny, but he's not like Jim Carrey or Robin Williams was during interviews - they have/had a really hard time turning off the rapid-fire comedy and just being a human being. Being normal seemed to be something that was uncomfortable for them.
@BreuckelensFinest6 жыл бұрын
prayforjonas I appreciate your thoughts on Dave. I've personally met Dave Chappell bc his best friend back in the day was David Edwards who was the guy on the "Real World" LA, who use to live with me & we were close friends. Anyway, Chappell came through a few times & I have to say, he was very down to earth & he wasn't annoying like a lot of other comedians that I've met, such as, Jamie Fox, extremely annoying & even regular people that were funny but not comedians. I met this guy once that was very funny, at first, but after the first 15 minutes was absolutely annoying & too much. As the saying goes, there's a time and place for everything. Chappell understands this.

I think Dave seems so open when compared to Carrey and because he seems comfortable with who he is as a person and because he has love for himself. I don't think the other two have/had enough of that and it's important if you're under so much scrutiny in this business. I've got nothing but love for these men but it does show through interactions if a person is at peace with himself. Just like Prince, he also had that aura and was easily able to put you at ease just by sitting in a chair and being interviewed about life.

I get exactly what he's saying. I was 9 when I first heard Prince then as a teenager in concert so close I could almost touch him. Wendy played the intro to Purple Rain & you could hear a pin drop. I started screaming at the top of my lungs. The strobe light stopped on my row & I started screaming Prince I Love You. He looked right at ME & said I Love You Too Baby!!! From the very beginning & always.....I'll never forget that. A former classmate of my sister's dad had died and I sent my condolences on fb She thanked me (it had been years) but jokingly asked "Do you still Love Prince? Ha. Ha. I said Look I told you that man told me he loved me and I'm holding him to it and if he ever comes looking for me (how idk my dream ok) my husband would have a problem! I was/am devastated he's gone. I dreamed about him about 4 or 5 months ago. I was crying and he wiped the tears off my face and asked me why. I said because you left me you weren't supposed to leave me. He said I didn't leave you. Because we love each other I live in you and you live in me so we're always together so when you miss me just think of me and I'll be there. I woke up and my face was wet. I was listening to my playlist on Spotify on my phone & the song Slow Love came on. I hadn't listened to that song in a long timeq (from 1987 Sign O the Tines). After it went off I got out of the car. I went in a store & 5 min. later the song Slow Love by Prince came on! I know the department store doesn't have Spotify. Sometimes it feels like I think of him & something like that will happen.

I like how he kind of dodged his personal feelings about Prince and their relationship publicly. He kept it peripheral and humble. I don't always agree with Dave but this is so sweet. You can see his emotions are there.

I could listen to him telling stories for hours. He tells them so beautifully and that sound he makes when pronouncing the "s" is so cute.

Dave's story telling is like a modern day Mark Twain with it's sentiment and Americana. It's so simple to understand yet so deeply moving and memorable.

A thought for the sensitive public: Dave Chappelle held prince in a sacred place in his heart and respected him as much as anyone he respects. Yet he still made fun of him in a hilarious sketch on his show... why so serious?

Dave is very humble dude. Very rare with someone who achieves this level of fame.

Sorry but dave is a genius, from the first word, he carefully uses language so ppl laugh, love and after you leave his words resonate in your mind. Thats why prince was a dave fan, and vice versa

Such a beautiful story and i can totally see Prince being that kind of "beautiful" rare human being that he is...there will never be such an amazing soul and gifted artist like Prince!

‘He was very stingy with his friends.’ What a unbelievably cack-handed turn of phrase.

To be in the *capstone* of musical achievement of your generation requires a level of devotion that most of us can't imagine ~even *friendships* go on the sacrificial alter. But Prince had emotional intelligence -and empathy. I think under that level of stress/joy he sought out talents commensurate with his own, and in comedy ~Dave Chapelle was there for him.
