Real victims of rape were harmed by Ms Erdely's amateur level work here. Didn't think it was possible to injure them more, then RS and Erdely's fantasies come along. She should be ashamed of her work and formally apologize to the UVA fraternity. But she will not, as she is just as disingenuous a personality as her written work. Just finished watching this on 20/20 on OWN. Her story immediately reminded me of Andy and Pacey on Season 3 of Dawson's Creek. Later in the episode, they describe how Jackie wrote a letter describing the friend she liked, but the words were from something said in an episode of Dawson's Creek. A mess.

Aren’t all reporters looking for the “more sensational” story? I can’t help but feel it a bit unfair to the reporter, what would the world say if a reporter denied a rape victims story because there wasn’t evidence? Do we believe them regardless of evidence or make them prove their case? Can’t have it both ways though efforts could have been made to avoid using names or identifying titles of others involved.

You feel bad for a reporter who didn’t do her research? If she had done her research and found no one corroborated Jackie’s story then it wouldn’t look bad that she denied her story because of proof it didn’t happen.
