Glad to have lived my teens during Rick Astley debut album, which spawned a handful of great hits. I'm surprised this interview failed to mention the producers behind the success of Rick Astley, which is the power house trio, Stock, Aitken, and Waterman (SAW). They had a huge hand in Rick's success worldwide. SAW spawned a lot of great hits back in the 80s for other artists as well, such as Bananarama, Donna Summer, Kylie Minogue to name a few.
@Raider5772 жыл бұрын
Americans don't know who SAW are even though they have had hits in the US. Also Rick Astley split with them acrimoniously he wanted to write his own material and do a different style rather than the style and songs given to him by SAW.

These artists from the 1980's are awesome, they should all tour together and they would probably sell out. I think the 2020's artists still have a lot to learn although there are some exceptional artists from the 1990's, 2000's, 2010's eras and maybe 1970's or dating back 1960's, the 1980's was a gold era in music, pop culture and movies and many things.

He had an absolutely fantastic voice, and it's a shame there was never a really strong creative team behind it. Glad he's got a place in history and earned a comfortable life (though 'modest' totals by pop/rock star measures) but I've always felt there was so much potential there. He could have gone on to be a Michael Bublé, but better. But anyway, I was clubbing to him in the late 80s - the soundtrack to my first real love affair; we'd play his rendition of 'When I fall in love' in a cheap studio apartment with no AC after a night out, having made love and just before we fell asleep - it was perfect.
