He was so well adjusted compared to some of the UK Popstars who fell on hard times like Kavanaugh aka "Kav". I feel that the UK Music Scene is more intense and when they fall they fall even harder than their us counterparts. Did his Father have anger management issues or was he bipolar? At 27 he dotted the i and crossed the t and at 27 Andy Gibb (1958-1998) lost it all to addiction and alcoholism.

I love the fact he’s watched Kylie’s later career - her move to BMG, the big summer shows, Glastonbury, Christmas the Albert Hall and quite literally taken inspiration from that. I mean that in a positive way. Seeing them both on stage together was by far one of the best moments in pop in the last 10 years for many people. Nobody would ever have imagined Kylie and Rick would do that in their 50’s whilst riding career highs.

Rick Astley on *This Morning* was a mix of honesty and humor: he’s dropping a biography now because, as he puts it, "I'm getting on a bit." Growing up with a strict dad gave him "mood swing training" and, well, therapy was a lifesaver post-pop career. He quit music at 27 to be a family man-like trading pizza for salad, but he insists it was worth it. A fear of flying helped his “retirement” along, because being an international star without boarding a plane is tricky. His comeback to the stage? Purely because his family “encouraged” him with a Japan trip, reminding him the joy of live music. And yeah, he roomed with Pete Waterman in his early days-‘80s rockstar reality TV with tea and sandwiches. Now, he’s ready to sing *Never Gonna Give You Up* at the Royal Albert Hall, because what says “Christmas” more than a Rick-roll?

Likely because he was an outsider to the American music industry networking. He and Kylie Minogue were arguably the most successful in America to come out of the PWL stable. Astley didn’t do much promotion in America, but was the most successful out of the PWL stable solely because of his voice and because his hit singles in America fit enough what was popular there at the time.

I'm very curious to read the book. I obviously loved his song as a kid from Canada but... I am always curious about the family dynamic of pop-stars and I had no idea he quit at 27. It seem a lot of pop-stars rise to fame and the parents are not around clearly, o they don't know what they are ACTUALLY going through emotionally. Every kid grown up without their parents knowing everything but, to be famous and touring is a different level.
