Why does everyone always have to fight for a pay increase? An increase should be the norm. Companies always want 100% but they’re not willing to pay for that 100%!
@HM-nu3hb
@HM-nu3hb 3 ай бұрын
Taraji is not the victim! If she wasn't satisfied with the compensation, then she should have declined! For her to complain AFTER the fact has hurt her career, and The Color Purple, which by the way was a wonderful musical production! She reminds me of Will Smith...anytime the cast or the Williams Family is interviewed about the movie, it will always be overshadowed by Will's drama! Seems to me, her real problem is her AGENT!
@LinusLarrabee
@LinusLarrabee 3 ай бұрын
@@HM-nu3hb 🙄 I highly suggest educating yourself before commenting. This isn’t just a “Taraji” issue. These are facts being expressed by many. The Studio has the power, not an Agent. If Studios do not want to pay fairly according to body of work and accolades, then there’s nothing an Agent can do. Agents are not miracle workers.
@HM-nu3hb
@HM-nu3hb 3 ай бұрын
@@LinusLarrabee I'm not disputing the fact there are pay disparities. However, It's you who needs to be educated because you're missing my point! The Agent's job is to get the BEST deal for the client. Since Mainstream Studios compensate actors based on their ability to turn a profit. Perhaps her Agent should have structured her deal to include additional compensation based on ticket sales! It is bad business for Taraji to enter into a movie contract and then publically complain about the compensation that SHE agreed to knowing full well, but not caring, how her actions would impact ticket sales. If Taraji's Agent wasn't able to structure a better deal for her then she needs a new Agent. If Taraji doesn't like the terms of a deal, then she needs to walk away. Octavia Spencer acknowledged the pay disparities, however, instead of complaining, she's grinding with her own production studio while still acting. Life Ain't Fair, so get over it!

@@HM-nu3hb You severely lack comprehension. This conversation is over. Rocks are more intelligent. Cheers!
@HM-nu3hb
@HM-nu3hb 3 ай бұрын
@@LinusLarrabee Clearly, what you severely lack is someone having a different opinion! Therefore, it makes sense that you would prefer to converse with rocks! The fact remains that Taraji's decision to "vent her frustrations" BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the premiere of a $100M film was foolish and unprofessional. And just like Will Smith, Taraji's drama has and will forever overshadow an otherwise beautiful production. IF she ever gets another film, her contract will certainly contain language that prevents her from disparaging the studio/producers or committing any other acts that could be implied or otherwise inferred as potentially detrimental to the film's success! Cheers to you too!

She is not appealing for me for sabotaging a Black story movie just to get at Oprah.....whilst hurting the carriers of new comers like Fantasia Barrino who now are on the record of a flop movie I see how the internet was on a high from the news just like how negative news about Meghan Markle fly's in seconds to millions, if your a thinker you will know who's behind it all am not surprised Oprah and Tyler Perry are linked this is a strategy well executed ... Viola Davis has shown the way where would the future Black actors willncome from in her movie WOMAN KING she clearly showed how and it was a success, a black story movies doesn't need Black American drama queens to succeed ànymore see where COLOUR PURPLE is compared to WOMAN KING which one had a majority of Black American cast (you have your answer).... Tyler Perry and Oprah should emulate Viola Davis ... if the Balack American population is against them its high time they should think of working with Black Africans and Black Britons ..... Black Americans can't get it right anymore, they are hooked with social media negative contents which happens to pay more on negative than positive news on Black American issues like what Brother Roland Martins is doing Club Shay Shay got insane viwership on an interview to Katt Williams a content that only demean Black excellence without any solution of way forward... Such contents always break the internet and the benefactor are blacks social media operatives who are inclined to do more of such contents to enrich themsalves with no regards of what its doing to Black community .... Blacks on Blàcks negative contents are the most juicy contents on the internet remember the Cabo 6? Thats where the experimentation was concluded .... the very unknown Shanquella Robinson story another Black on Black negative content broke the internet using IT know how a content is made available to millions of viewers just like what their doing to any Meghan Markle negative content Now they have on payroll the likes of Katt Williams, Taraji Henson, 50 Cent, Monique, Ice cube and others using internet to pay their contents where you can't determine who's behind the scam all you see Blacks on blàcks and their making money..... Ice cube paid peanut on his projects Barbarshop Oprah did it once and hell broke loose .... I was waiting to see where Ice cube the TRUMP supporter will put his card now I know why Katt Williams chose such a time like this they know who they are sérving and attacking and why ... All the major unifying figures for black americans against Trump are under seage ... BLACKS are easily reached by black contents and they made negative contents reach more people hence more pay to content creators who happen to jump on the stories without critical analysis and perpetuahte the negative narrative about the very unifying fabrics of black american population .... as I know my fellow blacks in America they are redy to sell their brains to a dolar sign ....no wonder AKON said AMERICA IS NOT FOR BLACKS ... Indians or Chinese in USA will never allow the amount of stupidity Black Americans intertain against their own for HOLLYWOOD sake or rathe ENTERTAINMENT industry..... Blacks don't talk about education or health or economy only money (dollar sign) ...Black Americans are now enslaved by social meadia where the uncle toms serve their masters effectively

There is no argument that Ms. Henson is talented. My concern is her "crusade" for better pay may backfire as it did with Mo'Nique sounding the same "alarm" (hers was with comedy Specials). She may get the label of "Difficult to work with" or worse, get "blacklisted". Because the Show Biz industry is "cut-throat" at best. And there is a lot of talent out there from which to pick and choose if you are a producer or casting Director. My best to Ms. Henson and her continued stellar career.

Ms. Henson has been around delivering outstanding performances for decades in TV shows and Small to Big name motion pictures, and she just wants to get paid the outstanding pay of her and Meryl Streep talent.

Like other stars have done for their co-workers such a pity Brad Pitt didn't step in to help Taraji get her deserving pay. Sorry, but sometimes you have to just realize if you keep accepting a salary below what you are worth, word will keep spreading around to other employers that they can also get away with paying you below your worth. In any career, if you have all the required credentials or even higher, and the employer isn't willing to pay you exactly what you are worth then don't take the job walk to a next one, and a next one until you find an employer, or gig willing to pay you what you deserve. It's obvious, if within the industry you keep going around accepting a low pay, then all you are doing is typecasting your pay in the exact same way actors be saying, "They decided to leave their show early bc they didn't want to risk being typecast into playing the same roles over and over within their career". Understandably, if you are starting out, and don't have any money already saved only then it would make sense to take what you can get UNTIL you can establish yourself and go after the bigger bucks, or stay to get that promotion. If you keep staying settling below your worth, then you will never get ahead, nor get what you are worth. You are only labeling yourself, and will keep being seen as a pushover. JS...

Now these are the type of interviews Taraji has been doing, Anywhere in there did anyone hear her say a Negative about Oprah Winfrey, NO, Its about Getting paid while others that are not Black Actresses are getting better pay & this isn't just Taraji compliant, this goes way back to the Days of past Black Actresses, such as Ruby Dee, Mrs Cecily Tyson etc. NOT about Oprah. Yet there are these fake, false Video's saying Taraji & Denzel are making negative comments about where Oprah is concerned. This is a Legitimate Morning Show. Glad Taraji is Pointing those issues out. Those other Video's are done by those who want to stir things up negatively & they add & take out statements, where they get those who believe everything they hear to respond because its 💰 MONEY. We all know there is one person making her Compliant about Lee, Tyler, Oprah & even if its a Legitimate compliant, there's still 2 sides 2 a story, but right now her compliant got thrown to the Back Burner after she Put her Business about her Son out in Public, See what goes around comes around. People need to stop responding to some of these Videos that are questionable until one has researched to make sure there truth in what's being said. I hope Taraji keeps standing up & fighting & making her Voice be Heard in HOLLYWOOD, because she is a Great Actress & Worth more then what she's getting. Good Luck, wishing you much success in your endeavor.

If you have seen the movie, "Hollywood Shuffle" you would understand my comment. Check out the movie. It has a great message.

Why does she think her role was worth $500,000? A role like that is dispensable. Brad Pitt was paid $6000 for his breakout role in Thelma and Louise. Hilary Swank was paid 5000 for her Oscar winning role! When she says things like this, I wonder if people look up salary as it pertains to Hollywood. She wasn’t worth $500,000.

Youre comparing the moment of a break-out star to a seasoned actress whose been in many high named movies. We also dont know how Pitts contracts were set up, as we also do not know Hensons's full story as it relates to pay disparities.

If the pay is not fair, why stay. She could easily find something else that is fair. Or, she could create her own movies. How does one calculate the financial value of an artist?

Henson reminds me of myself. I haven't had a job since 2019 yet I've put in resume after resume application after application and My Dad used to tell me "Your gonna be a good stay at home mom" especially when I was cleaning house.

Try working in a factory girl..and try to demand a raise..you could say goodbye to your ‘job’..it’s reality for a lot of people..maybe actors are getting paid far too much anyway..that’s a conversation for ya

The Pay discrepancy is long due to our societal values, or better put how society had the wool pulled over their eyes to accept being financially robbed. Here's the gist of whats happened. We were told some people deserve to be paid far higher than others and we simply accepted it as a standard. Here's a scenario. Someone owns a restaurant, and hires a well known hot-shot chef, known for making incredible meals. In the kitchen that chef needs a crew to execute those recipes. The Chef gets paid X-amount more than the rest of the kitchen, and everyone accepts it. BUT fact is they're accepting getting robbed because the kitchen and all of its employees are crucial to the operation of a restaurant. Like a musicians band every key person makes for the song to be played, the song isn't right without each person in their position doing their part along with their expertise. In the Kitchen the Chef is nothing without all the parties involved in making his dish, and though an actor may be the headline and draw for a film, fact the actor isn't nothing without all those involved with making the film.. sooooo i ask you why is it that we've accepted the few to have so much more than the rest when they are just as meaningful and purposeful forgetting the job done? Why is an automotive industry CEO making millions but isn't lifting a single wrench? His purpose is his purpose but why does he get paid the lions share? Again we as a society have long accepted bias lies that they laid cause for their pay. And that pay discrepancy has grown to staggering amounts throughout the decades. We placed elements of production high up on a pedestal, signifying that they are cruicial and special while everyone else is expendable. We did this to ourselves in the idolization of those we've placed in high places. Our culture said YES doctors should be very rich! and so doctors had a platform to demand higher pay. but in other nations , their society said Teachers should be paid more and thus teachers instead of doctors are higher paid. At the end of the day, we should strive for fairness across the board and stop placing parts of the collective group on higher platforms.
