Artie was on dope and self-destructed. Period. Jackie went "on strike" at least a few times, where he would refuse to come into work -- in order to get a raise. Howard warned Jackie (in advance) the last time Jackie's contract negotiations started if Jackie went "on strike" again, Howard was not going to "go to bat for him" with management. I miss Jackie, but he was warned in advance. I do not know the entire Billy West story, but I thought he left the show to move to L.A. and voice cartoons (if that is not the whole story, I'm guessing Billy wanted a raise). If you do not like what Howard has turned into lately, that's fine, just don't be "re-writing history."

For 20 years I was on of his superfans and barley missed a few minutes of the show. I forced my work to change the companies production hours just so I could listen to the show. Got me through some really tough times so I don't want to bash him too much but once he got remarried and hooked up with the getting things done girl he completely changed. Money and fame sadly finally got to him. Still listen to his older shows almost daily since I have almost every show from 1992-2010 on tape.

Personally, I miss the K Rock days! I’ve been a Stern fan for a very long time (since 1986). The only reason I got satellite radio was to listen to him when he left terrestrial radio. I have since canceled my Sirius subscription. I know everything doesn’t stay the same, but the show didn’t get better, it got worse unfortunately…. In his older age, he became more of a ringmaster than the focal point of the show allowing his interns to entertain the audience with their ridiculous and immature antics … It just doesn’t work for me. The best part of the show during the K Rock days was his rants, fighting the FCC and screaming at the media on air defending all of the controversy he created. I guess he had to grow up at some point.

As a kid in the 1980's in the Washington DC area, I feel awed that we got to head Howard Stern at his peak before he went to NY. I never will forget the joke of when he called an airline and asked them for a ticket for the 14th st bridge. This was the day after the airline had a plane crashed into the bridge and the Potomac river. It was truly creative and his golden age for Howard Stern.

It’s so transparent and self serving, it’s sickening. Of all the times he’s done blackface, violently dehumanized transgender people, exploited handicap people, objectified women and pretty much opened up the floodgates to normalizing offensiveness, he doesn’t just get to walk away from all of that. He hurt a lot of people, either indirectly or direct, he doesn’t deserve happiness or success for the hate he’s exploited.

Just because other people have it worse doesn't mean your problems are illegitimate, nor does it mean everyone can just "toughen up" and make it go away. My theory has always been that Howard goes to therapy so often because he has a debilitating fear of death. He just can't fathom that he's a human being who is going to be worm food sometime in the next few decades, because he's been treated as a God for so many years he's bought into it and has a really unhealthy God complex.

Have a lot of respect for the guy---been listening to him since my dad had him on the radio in the 80s when I was a kid. Listened to him religiously at one point every morning during my senior year of high school throughout college and even beyond. Didn't listen as much if at all when he went to Sirius as I never bothered getting satellite. I've read both of his books and watched his movies and all his videos and pay per view specials and get amusement out of listening to his classic interviews and bits on KZbin. I have no ill will against him for changing...he deserves to be where he is and enjoy every minute of it. He went through a lot of turmoil and stress and drama to become the best at what he does. It's a different show nowadays but when you listen to one of his interviews you realize that there is no better interviewer EVER in the history of all media. He has a perfect radio voice and radio face (haha jkjkjk) and runs a show like a pro and is a marketing GENIUS! He has helped a LOT of people laugh and feel better and entertained for decades! God Bless Howard Stern and his entire crew..past and present and all of the lives he's changed.

was the Robin Williams interview he's referencing one that took place since the move to Sirius? what I found interesting about that exchange, I actually found so often over the years that Williams would be doing an interview somewhere, and I WANTED something that was more some realness and introspection, but he'd wind up doing his usual 100mph improv thing the whole time. And it's like, obviously that was a major reason for his success to begin with, but I can already see that plenty of other times and places. I recall he even wound up doing it for his appearance on the Inside The Actors Studio appears in the early 2000s.

Howard did change quite a bit, but I feel the change is a bit more fitting for a man of his age. Also, he is the wealthy celebrity he mocked, whether he sat at the table or not, so the gimmick runs stale. He is the best interviewer we’ve seen in the mainstream. He recognized he has other strengths to capitalize on. He’s very dynamic, which proves why he’s so successful.

I was then surprised to see how compassionate he was toward contestants...free with constructive & kind criticism, not too sharp with the negative. In other words, nice (& funny). He quickly became my favorite judge & I was genuinely disappointed when he left. He was an asset to the show & I and my family still miss him when each new season rolls around. I'm happy for him & his wife that he's doing better these days. And I admire them both for their efforts on behalf of animals. As someone who's always done rescue work, I love them for being a positive force for animals. Thank you, Howard. 💙
