Standup comic-writer-actress Amy Schumer will tell you exactly what's on her mind, even when those words have four letters. Mo Rocca interviews the star of Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer" and the film, "Trainwreck."

i like the fact that amy doesnt have to be funny 24/7 unlike most comedians.
@fyodordostoyevsky69179 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Kim seems like just a difference of personality; she's a person readily capable of being very funny, not a very funny person. Some comedians get their comedy from channeling their neuroticism, arrogance, etc. into the way they talk and live, while others get it from a more extrinsic sense of farce, Schumer being in the latter group. I think there have been greats from either camp and each has its value.

BS.. Part of her schtick, yes, but she covers LOTS of different areas of relationships and human behavior in her show and routines. It is exceptionally hard to stay fresh in comedy, especially these days with the 2 second attention span generation, but she is very creative and unafraid of any subject matter or technique. Her spoof of 12 angry men is an instant classic.
@GreenEnvy.9 жыл бұрын
Nope. She's just generic and doesn't have a way with words. Also to tell a whole generation of people that they have a 2 second attention span is simply not true. Amy brings nothing new to the table. She's the quirky, slightly over weight all american girl of the moment. She'll be gone once the next quirky, slightly slightly over weight all american girl of the moment comes along.

"Why is sex such a great source of material?" Because it's easy, that's why. Schumer happens to do it better than just about anyone else. The really challenge for a comic is material that contains little or no sex. Or has it, but kids don't know what's going on (think "The Contest" episode of Seinfeld). And that's one reason I love Seinfeld. He's brilliant, funny, and works "clean."

"I wish more women had a sense of humor" this is a statement most all female comediennes would condemn and rebuke due to the fact that this misconception has almost blacklisted women in the field of comedy for decades...women in are funny but in the media are seen as delicate, fragile, and feminine which distracts from their true humor and intelligence that women do possess. Just saying.

It is a shame that so many people are disputing the rape statistics here. When I spent time at a criminal court as part of my criminology studies I spent some time attending a shocking rape case of a very young girl. The court usher commented that there was no chance that the defendants would be charged as no person had been charged for rape in the entire time (five years) that this person had been an usher there. That was really shocking to us..

Well, if they ever need an actress to play "Miss Piggy" in a "Muppet Movie" remake, Amy is a Schu-In! I HATE it when a 4 tries to act like she's a 9! She has obviously worn out a few casting couches to get to where she is. She has tried her best to replace talent with vulgarity and audacity, but it really can't be done. I'm sure she will fade into obscurity in a couple of years. She'll be hanging out with folks like Julie Tenuta and Dean Cain soon enough.

I like her. But what's so sad, is that her attitude towards sex and relationships is literally a perfect blueprint of how to end up single, sad and alone. Research tells us that nearly all people are happiest in long-term relationships - particularly marriage. Amy's approach almost guarantees marriage will never happen. This whole "girls should try to mimic men's approach to everything" philosophy destroys the dating life of every woman I know who adopts it.
@jameswilliams-of3mv9 жыл бұрын
observer855 exactly.. spot on correct,, she might mean well and has some good messages for people, like loving and accepting yourself, but.. problem is, she's over sexualized as many women are..and treats sex and relationships as a joke.. no pun inteneded.. she's clueless, period..and that's truyl sad coz now she's more well known coz of her movie..
@observer8559 жыл бұрын
mikemoair Yes. While she would be lambasted for saying so publicly, a social psychiatrist/psychologist said last year she was determined that the show, Sex and the City, had destroyed more female lives than breast cancer. Women mimicking the destructive habits of men is not "empowering." And ignoring very real biological differences is insane.
@MedianNMean9 жыл бұрын
observer855 Maybe the research shows happy people end up in long-term relationships? You can't force a happy long-term relationship; in fact, that's a perfect recipe for an awful, short-term relationship.
@observer8559 жыл бұрын
Median N. Mean No, that's not what the research shows. Virtually all data shows the "hook up culture" makes women unhappy in the long run. It also damages men, indirectly, because men who marry women who were previously promiscuous are much more likely to get a divorce.

Now matter how much Amy looses herself her psychologist sister can pick her up again. "If I loose myself to alcohol?" "If I work myself to death?" "If I screw around until my selfimage is ruined?" A lot of people do this. But they dont have anyone to pick them up again. Twins have the same connection. Sometimes they have no other relationship throughout their lives. Because nobody can beat what they have. I'm glad for the shitload of money she is making, her unique platform and network.
