I was thinking the same thing! This song and video would easily fit into the late 90s scene. It has that psydo-futuristic vibe popular around 98-99. The song itself could even be out of 2000-01tbh. And yeah it sucks that Freedom Williams left when this came out. It probably would've been a hit with him on it instead of Trilogy (who most people have no idea who they are). Love this jam from my youth. It's good to note a corner bit of history of this tune. After C&C was caught stealing Martha Wash's, (the plus size diva in the video ), vocal track for C&C's hit tune "Everybody Dance Now" this video was made after she sued C&C. It was good they put the incident aside and made this track. It was definitely a jam then and still is one today.

This album is brilliant. The album where Martha Wash is brought into the limelight and not just a backing singer. There’s a track on the album called “Takin’ over” where she just blows me away and unfortunately was never released as a single. Take a listen to it and you’ll see what I mean. Powerful song and lyrics! Don’t get me wrong, love Zelma’s voice, she was the voice of C & C , but there’s only one Martha Wash and the woman is soulful and sexy. Martha Wash was one of the two women from the group “The weather girls” most famous for their classic “Its raining men” Also was the voice behind “Black Box” Another group, like Milli Vanilli, that proved to be a “fake” and Martha gained the attention more so after it was revealed that the woman fronting the band, was actually lip syncing to Martha Wash’s vocals. Black box was huge back in the day with club hit after club hit. A lot of radio play too. Yet all along, it was Martha singing 🎤 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
