I didn't know that CCS implemented to ISO 15118 standard provides for bi-directional charging/discharging of EV's! That is great news - that means that your car can supply power to the grid and fill the hole created by supply and demand - time to get rid of those fossil fuelled power stations. What a great project Dala!
@jeremyloveslinux3 жыл бұрын
Bidirectional charging is still in draft form for CCS, unfortunately. Unlikely to be supported by the LIM
@DalasEVRepair3 жыл бұрын
Yes we will see, the 2017+ LIM allows for negative discharge according to the CAN-data, but we'll see in a few years what happens with CCS V2X. Chademo is just plug and play, so that wins in this situation!

I read from the Spanish "Wallbox" Quaser2 will be using CCS as a bi-directional to home. It is on the company website. However, I understand that there are plans to build a factory in the U.S. to the North American market. I do not know if the Spanish factory is making them yet for the European market.

Truthfully, I can't believe that this doesn't already exist considering that A) There are still hundreds of thousands of CHAdeMO cars (not just Leafs)* in the world and B) Many charging station companies are slowly phasing out CHAdeMO or only have one node per location currently, so if that one is out of service you are in trouble! * I have a 2016 Kia Soul EV that uses CHAdeMO.

I have one a little bit long note. If you will translate charging requests from Chademo CAN to the BMW module, you might consider an improvement that adds power that is consumed byt heater. If I charge 8kW and start heating which is needed nowadays I am charging only 4-5kW from DC. I do not know it the car request voltage or current or both but many cars can increase charging demand for heater but not LEAF. Do you think it can be done also into battery CAN bridge as new feature? This might be another way to improve it. I considered buying CAN bridge just because charging with 4.1V is incredibly slow with old battery. If it also allows heating with charging without loosing speed it would definitely buy it. Or you can add it to CCS plug only that I want to follow.
