The m112 and m113 are smooth and bulletproof engines. These engines are simple in design since their single overhead can and have no VVT. The dual spark ignition made them incredibly fuel efficient. The V6 got comparable fuel economy to Toyota’s 4cyl and the v8 got fuel efficiency comparable to v6s. More manufacturers should’ve kept the dual ignition systems.

One should note that the M276 non-turbo manufactured before De. 2012 had some issues, corrected after that so the 2013 is the really, solid, reliable engine here. Adding the turbos in the later versions will of course always make a turbo engine more unreliable than a non-turbo engine.

Its rated as 17-21 MPG, but I got almost 40 MPG on my trip. It's also rated as having 302 HP. That's an under rating in my honest opinion. It has almost 200,000 miles on it, and it still runs like it's NEW!! German engineering is OUTSTANDING from the rest. There's no comparison. The greatest to ever do it, are the Germans!

I love the M276 so much that i cannot believe Mercedes made such an engine. I have the 3.0 bi turbo and the 3.5 liter natural aspirated version. Both engines are rock solid. And, if you change your oil frequently, in sports mode, they are very fuel efficient as well. I cannot get enough of the M276 engine. I am going to wait to see if the M256 (in-line 6) which replaced the M276 (v6) will stand the test of time. If you find one even with 120,000 miles, buy it. I guarantee you will drive it another 30,000 miles with no issues. You can take them to red line all day long with no issues. This engine is rev happy and confidence inspiring. I love the M276.

Both oils are exceptional. I highly recommend Mercedes owners use Mercedes oil. That thing improves the efficiency of the engine when it is used and changed frequently. I always let me Mercedes warm up for about 10 minutes before i drive them. But when i drive them, i do not baby them. I drive in a spirited fashion. @glupsification3 ай бұрын
Hi, the angle between the M272 (90°) ans M276 (60°) permit no vibration... perhaps it antther pieces... i have this engine, it's seems reliable.. but I monitor the distribution chain.. (noise... )
@geomtol3 ай бұрын
60 degree V6 Is not inherently balanced, its impossible for a V6 to be. It's not bad, and no balance shaft is less moving parts which is always good. But it's definitely not refined compared to an inline 6 or V8.
@glupsification3 ай бұрын
@@geomtol i agree with your mind, less balance shaft is better, and 6 in line or V8 are more balanced, but if you want a V6 with little space, the 60° V6 is the least bad. 4 cylinder in line are good solution too.. with little space, the 60° V6 is the least bad. . the others are problematic the M276, is quite good.. M276 in my C450 AMG 4Matic. Very strong and takes a beating. Not afraid to put that pedal to the metal. One thing i don't like about Mercedes is TOO MUCH ELECTRONICS. Seems like there are sensors monitoring every damn thing on the car. You got sensors monitoring other sensors. The ECO mode is about a joke too, just to get another mile per gallon.
@ikeudechukwu5018Ай бұрын
I thought i was the only one who has experienced this. That M276 in the C450 and C43 AMG is bullet proof. It can take a beating. I will argue that the C450 and C43 AMG are the most reliable cars Mercedes ever made . That eco mode or comfort mode causes carbon build up inside the car in order to gain a few miles per gallon. So, I highly recommend anyone driving any M276 to drive them either in sports mode with eco, at all times or in newer generations, in sports mode or sports+ mode. I love the M276 engine whether in naturally aspirated form or in turbo form.

@michaelhoward44029 ай бұрын
Look in the short term when they actually run they could well be up there with the best Merc engines, however its a temporary thrill as they won't be running well for very long, and will cost you an arm and a leg to replace when the engine decides to pack it in due to flawed design 😅

Camshaft and lifters had premature wear and the trick is to keep the dipstick oil level at its highest and add a reliable proven oil additive. Also variable cam shaft positioning gear & pin had wear which cause a rattle at start up. The later models came out with these parts upgraded with better materials including the head bolts as mentioned from around 2012 I think.
