CDC Parachute BWO 4K

A standard parachute pattern except I used a CDC wing for the post as opposed to calf body or poly post material. By using a natural material like CDC, you can get away with a more subtle or natural looking fly pattern that isn't too bright or too bulky. Something that can be helpful when fish are selectively eating and bright parachute posts are to bulky and bright.
Hook: TMC 100 or Daiichi 1100 size 16-22
Thread: Uni 8/0, Olive Dun or Veevus 14/0 Olive
Tail: Dun Mircofibbets, Split
Body: BWO Superfine Dubbing
Post: Natural Dun CDC
Hackle: Whiting Neck Hackle, Dark Dun

Hey Juan, another great pattern, thanks. What is your opinion of using CDL for the tail - both for this fly and for the slim shady?

CDL works great! For either pattern. Just don't go too heavy and you'll be fine. The darker the better.

Nicely done. Looks like you tied the hackle in front side facing up and back of feather facing down. I've heard it makes a difference on how the fly sits in the surface film. What's your feeling on that? Awesome tying by the way, thanks.👍

Thanks for the view. The hackle is tied in and is wound down the post with the "shiney" side down and the "dull" side up. That would place the hackle fibers with an upward angle so the fibers would sit lower in the water. This is how I prefer to tie my parachutes. Does it matter? Probably not but you have to choose one side or the other! Hope that helps.

Yes!! Except maybe not in the morning. The best times to fish a small BWO parachute is during the worst weather because the BWOs love that bad weather, usually later in the afternoon. So mayyybbbeeee, to answer your question.
