as a local ( to Danny) they all differ, no matter if it's a mile away or across the street. most are "foreign run", so all have their "nuances", (put it that way). the "english run" chippy is getting like " a cows bollocks" ( as me dad used to say). i pine for "beef dripping" chips, so consequently i travel 10 miles to satiate misself. i come away happy.... that's it.

From New Zealand - I have got to hand it to the fish and chip shops in the North of England they certainly know how to make F& C properly. @@Sam-ou5wu Yes from all I see it’s the same long rectangular piece of cod or shark and a lot of batter. The chips are ok but once you put the vinegar on they become soggy. I think they use the wrong potato’s also but that’s what we get. I have been to Gordon Ramsey’s in Vegas and even that was like finger food fish and chips. The places like Kings Head, Cock and Bull don’t do it proper nobody does really.

Yeah IMO the kibbeling (and F&C) here in the Netherlands (tried it in A'dam, R'dam and Eindhoven) doesn't hold a tea candle to the UK (one spot in A'dam comes close)... also they haven't discovered vinegar here yet... probably because it has flavor... and flavor is against the law in the Netherlands ;)

@ashley 1982 I’ve worked for the NHS, now work in mental health and have also been an unpaid carer for a severely disabled relative for years. I would never begrudge people having a bit of lighthearted fun on KZbin. Danny’s channel, among others that focus on seemingly insignificant stuff, are my escapism and saviour at times. If Danny’s table & chair end up in a museum (I suggest The People’s History Museum in Manchester) then I’ll be the first on a train to go see it and rejoice in all the times he put a lighthearted smile on my face when I was feeling tired, stressed or generally worn out! Please be kind, you never know what the others here are mentally escaping from either 🙂 Try to relax, lighten up for a bit and enjoy xx

Not a fish and chips expert being here from US, but those chips look spot on and crunchy, even after sprayed with vinegar and is it normal to have the fish that size, which is really for two people? Sometimes looks are deceiving, but you could tell this place was a winner.

Standard price for good fish and chips in Yorkshire is about £6. So at £10 that's probably a 2 person/ fat lad special. They wouldn't be in business long if they charged £10 for a normal size portion

@@Salamander6969 The problem is that it might take a while to get your fish and chips back from the shop. When they are wrapped up the steam softens everything up. For choice I put the oven on with a heating tray in it and a plate on the bottom shelf so that when I get back home I can get it back in the open in the oven for a few minutes. Crisps it up again and brings it back hot again. My chippie gives too many chips even on the cheapest size but reheating them the next day makes them even better. Chips are very filling!
