UPDATE: Several guests have reported that Celebrity Cruises is providing a future cruise credit valued at 30 percent of the affected voyage's cost as compensation. Additionally, the cruise line has extended complimentary gestures, including cocktails and sorbets by the pool, as well as champagne and cocktails available throughout the ship. Guests were also treated to special surprises at both lunch and dinner in the buffet area, enhancing the dining experience.

We weren’t offered anything. I heard the discount offered was based off a regular priced cruise. Seems like CC is giving different folks different offers. A friend did receive a $400 credit.
@gracedicecco28229 ай бұрын
I was on the cruise and tried to seek compensation as reported here and was told by Celebrity, after many follow up calls, that only people whose luggage and clothes were water damaged were compensated. So very few people. The rest of us who dealt with no power, no water, dirty and smelly shower water when it did come back, excessive heat and foul odors in public spaces, and who could not use prepaid WiFi and drink packages during these outages, were ignored. Bad look for Celebrity.

I was on that cruise and that’s my T-Shirt meme bro! It was a disaster, I was also injured on the ship and CC did nothing about it. Thanks for making the video.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
I am sorry to hear about your injury. I hope you recovered quickly. No one should be this stressed on vacation. Did you get anywhere with Celebrity Guest Services? I heard they offered you all 30% percent future cruise credit. PS Tshirt meme is great. I love it. If you ever make them, I would love to order one!
@aramfam86389 ай бұрын
Sadly we have received nothing from Celebrity. I have heard they are offering some customers that discount. It was my first cruise ever lol probably my last. I’ll send you a shirt for free if we ever make them! :-)

Great video as usual! We got off the Summit on 4/1, no issues other than the shower draining very slow. The minute the power goes out, you never know when it's going to come back on along with not knowing what else could be broken on the ship. Some may not care but the worriers are going to worry, worst case, they're on the next "poop cruise". The good news is, I'm sure this was lesson learned and now the odds of power loss happening again or on other ship are decrease
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
I am glad you enjoyed the video!! I hope this was a lesson learned for them. I feel bad for a lot of the passengers. No one should be this stressed on their vacation.

On my most recent cruise, after the first night the next morning our cabin carpeting was very wet. It turned out to be the AC. Since they couldn’t remove the wet water we requested a move to another cabin which they complied.

I am glad they were able to resolve the issue. I had something similar happen to me on the Eclipse.

Hi Tom! What a great question from Steven and Colleen from Ontario ....lol... I do think videos like yours built a groundswell that played a part in this positive development. We view this as a re-affirmation that Celebrity both listens to and values loyal customers. The reality is that cruising is a good value and cruise companies have to cover incraasing costs and placate shareholders which include us. I'm sure we will be looking for some up-charge-over-premium glasses of Caymus and maybe some Super-Tuscans in about two weeks!
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Well said, Steven! Great question about the wines. I am glad the were able to answer it. I am looking forward to hearing your feedback once you return from the cruise! Which ship are you sailing on next?

Mechanical things break and you never know when it may happen. Hopefully preventive maintenance catches any issues, but things still happen. Losing power for 20 minutes is only a real problem unless you happen to be in the elevator. It's not like a door plug blew out at 15,000 feet. If my luggage got soaked, I would be pretty unhappy, but not flushing the toilet for a half hour? Remember meet the Fockers? "If it's brown, flush it down, if it's yellow, let it mellow". Demanding a full refund seems a bit over the top to me. I would love to get a future cruise credit though. I watched a very interesting video yesterday on KZbin by Chief MAKOi, a ships chief engineer, discussing the probable cause of the power failure on the Dali. Very interesting and enlightening in regard to what is involved in a ships power systems. A rather long video but very informative.

Hi Rick! Thanks for your input. I always appreciate your insight. I will check out the video you recommended.

We lost power on the Summit on Friday morning, April 12. We were docked in key west.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing. It sounds like the ship is still having power issues. I wonder what is the issue. Hope the rest of your cruise went goes smooth.
@christinegibson41479 ай бұрын
On RC Allure of the seas we lost power on the March 22 Cruise for about 1/2 hour. Something weird is going on with these ships losing power.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
That is really odd. A lot of cargo ships lost power in the last few weeks as well.
@JulieFalls9 ай бұрын
We were on this ship!!! All this happened on Day 3, Day 4 (next day) was also a another disaster on the ship. We had a major water main break. Again, we had no water, no working toilets for hours. It was one disaster after another. Will never cruise with Celebrity again!! Done and Done!!!
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Hi Julie. I am really sorry to hear about your bad experience. It sounds really stressful. Did you get any kind of compensation from Celebrity? I heard a lot of guests asked for refunds from Guest Services.
@BroncoJoe0710 ай бұрын
Hopefully Celebrity resolves the water issue quickly and the cruise isn't ruined for people. I know it is frustrating, but hopefully it's more of a one time issue that can be resolved and isn't a "my whole cruise is ruined," event. Does make you wonder if people want to make t-shirts that they survived the cruise!
@tomsunday10 ай бұрын
I hope everything is resolved and people are not upset. Vacation should be stress free. That tshirt comment had me a bit concerned as well!

I literally just got off the Summit CC. My cruise was from 4/11-4/15, we too experienced a power outage, and another "black-out test", IMO, it was another power outage that they identified a😂😂s an "unplanned test" to save face. My cabin had a terrible odor and a few issues with sanitation. I am appalled at the lack of communication and regard for safety and sanitation.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing. I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good cruise. Especially with sanitation and smells. That must of been awful.

I was on the Summit over Halloween. The ship ROCKED constantly, no matter WHAT the ocean conditions were like. It was hard to walk around without grabbing walls. Overall, aside from the food/staff, it was the most unimpressive cruise I’ve had. Ppl were nice, food was great, but that’s not a reason to go back to Celebrity.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Have you tried their Edge class ships? That may be a better fit for you. I have videos on all of them. If you have some time, check out my Ascent review.
@christiandiablo94999 ай бұрын
Not surprising. We were on Summit in October and it’s gone way way downhill. Service, food, and common areas. All need a lotta lotta help. We’re Elite with Celebrity but we’re about done with this line. No new Celebrity cruises scheduled since that experience. Only booked on Virgin and Azamara.
@Amber-sz1xn9 ай бұрын
@tomsunday, I was on this ship, Celebrity offered me nothing for compensation, I spoke with guest services both on the ship and off. Not sure how there are so many discrepancies on compensation? The amount of time we were without power, A/C, water, toilets, Internet was about an hour the first time, about 2 hours the second time, and then the water main break took about 3 hours to fix. Anyone saying it was "no big deal" is either delusional or works for Celebrity!
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
Hi Amber. I am very sorry that you had to deal with all of this. Thank you for clarifying the times. I highly appreciate it. I would suggest contacting the Celebrity Executive offices. Are you a Captain's Circle member? I know this is extra work but contacting them may get you better results. it's worth a try.
@ladyc32058 ай бұрын
It is about the cruise experience so hope customers demand better and more from Celebrity cruise line. Seems these are crumbs thrown to a few passengers and not addressing the root problem.
@tomsunday8 ай бұрын
Well said. If it's a big enough problem to cause this many issues, it needs to be solved before going back out. It may be better to dock the ship for a few days and get everything fixed.
@BrianSilengo8 ай бұрын
The service we received definitely helped, but sewage backup and the inability to shower prior to dinner was unfortunate. We told celebrity and nothing!
@tomsunday8 ай бұрын
I am really sorry to hear about the sewage backup. So you reached out to Celebrity, told them about this and they did not offer any kind of future cruise credit or other compensation? Did you speak with guest services or call the customer service number afterwards?
@BrianSilengo8 ай бұрын
@@tomsunday We are part of the facebook group for the cruise and they are not giving anything from what people are saying. Although your message below sounds different.
@tomsunday8 ай бұрын
Usually Celebrity is very good at resolving issues and making things right. Especially in a case like this. It's hard to believe that they are not doing anything but I will take the groups word on it. Its a shame if this is true. It may be worth asking for a supervisor and getting the managements perspective on this. But i do understand you not wanting to waste your time. Im sorry to hear about your troubles.
@rickybobby79869 ай бұрын
the Butlers. Walking back a bad decision is not an acceptable answer. While it solves the issue, you have to consider that this woman has made several terrible decisions only to walk them back. The problem is, she's shown her true colors and will continue to offer us less for a premium price. It's like she's trying to take something from us, gets caught so doesn't actually take it, then says, no harm can we still be friends? My answer to that is simply, HELL NO! She clearly doesn't care about guests who have been loyal to the line. We've done just seven cruises with every one of them on Celebrity, so we've shown our loyalty. That being said, she's definitely going to lose us as customers.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
I aree with you. These decisions need to be considered from all angles before implementation. Making changes and then reversing them, a few weeks later, makes them look like knee jerk reactions. Rookies act on knee jerk reactions. Pros think a few moves ahead.

Another clear example of an old ship and Celebrety likely cutting corners to save money to keep their ships away from the arms of the lenders.
@femalejaysfan9 ай бұрын
I don't know about that. I was on that ship just a few months ago, and it was stunning, and in incredible condition.
@tomsunday9 ай бұрын
I am not sure they would cut corners when it comes to safety. That would be a huge liability. I was on the Summit a few months ago. I made a series of videos about my trip. The ship is in very good condition (especially considering it's age). I am not sure what the issue is but it seems odd. Apex lost power a few weeks ago as well. So did another RC ship. Same with a few cargo ships.

As cruisers, we have no idea what condition the machinery is in. The ship may look good to us, but is its outward appearance just lipstick on a pig.
@JulieFalls9 ай бұрын
And not to mention, it was in Nassau the very next day after we departed. The issues we encountered seriously need to be looked into further. Especially seeing helicopters landing on the ship and bringing in parts during all this. Thankful this cruise is over!!
