Celestion 2001 vs 2006 Mesa Vintage 30s compared in a full mix w/ a Mark IIC+

The 2001 is a good representation of the 2000 - ~2004 V30 generation, where the 2006 is a good representation of the ~05 - 19 V30 generation, where in my experience the ones from the teens are even fizzier.
To follow up on the earlier vid, here's a comparo of the SAME speakers, in a fullly mastered reamped mix. The setup is with the same amp & cabs, however the mic setup did change here to an E609 & SM7B blend which is what we're using on the album. The song is one of my band's, called That Motherfucker.
What tone do you prefer??

My first watch the 06 sounded a bit brighter, but more harsh, the 01 was more smooth and refined. kinda like the 06 is a Blue Stripe, and the 01 is a C+. I'll listen on other audio sources to see if it differs. Excellent video as always!

Great content as always J. Lovin those 2000 V30s I got. They just have a better EQ curve overall imo

Wow, that poor 2006 cab wants to be good so bad! Same in one of my cabs from 2017. Utter harshness. Had to replace the speaker, went with Creamback H75 to blend with my other v30 cab.

It's the same speaker from different eras. From 2007 on Celestion started adding these suffixes to the type codes. All British made speakers type codes since then end with a B, all Chinese made speakers type codes end with an A.

@@Dogmatikos The late 90s I've had seem to be a tad darker than the 00-04, but still fundamentally good. Your 08 will be in line with my 06 here.

​@@TheOtherJohnBrowne So that's the final word? A is China and B is UK? I had an '06 T4335B and it was great. Liked it much more than my '93 T3904 16 ohm "UK" V30's. That said, I love my '03 T4335 loaded Mesa OS 4x12 speakers more!

I've got a quad of 2001 V30's (non Mesa), that have the T3903 on the sticker, but also say IPS England on the sticker, and Celestion INT Foxhall RD IPS Suffolk England on the bottom of the big magnet sticker. Does anyone know for sure if they are actually made in UK? Basically, were all T3903's made in UK up until a certain date? Also, are all V30's that say IP England etc on the big sticker def made in UK? I noticed my 2004 V30 T3903 says all that, but doesn't say IP England on the date sticker like my 2001's.

The MIC ones have a "50" somewhere on the small white sticker on the side of the magnet.
