Thanks for this video, guys, I always wondered how these two differ. Low gain - very similar sounding. Moderate gain - V30 more articulate and cutting, but can be too much - depends on the type of music IMO. High gain - V-type fizzy as hell and muddy at the same time - V30 wins it clearly for me, even altogether as a better all-rounder. Thanks for the great playing as usual, Joe, very nice ES! 👍

I think this video helps confirm my experiences with these speakers where the v type is quite similar to the v30 but has a less aggressive upper mid spike, and could work better with brighter/harsher amps or for not super aggressive styles

Love the V-type 👌🏼👌🏼

V30 is more or less the industry standard for heavy sounds, but pleases me less as 112 single speaker, the V-Type is more a typical all-round speaker, with some vintage Celestion characteristics (G12M, G12H) combined with V30 typical ones like tighter bass, but works for me better in a 112 or 212 cabinet. The V-Type sounds more balanced to me, while you have to like the more spiky treble of the V30. On the other hand the V-Type also can sound a little boring and a little flatter in comparison. But of course this also depends a lot on the used amp too. Typical Celestions both of them are and not so far away from each other. Never tried it, but I think, they also harmonized well together. The bigger differences for me have the 10" versions. While I really love the VT-Junior even over a G10M or G10 Gold, the V10 sounds much too thin for me, at least alone. But it can focus the sound maybe in combination with a bassier 12" speaker like eg. a Creamback well. (Or maybe also interesting, to combine it with a Fullback) So it's always a question of combinations. For a more Plexi voiced amp, Vox or Hiwatt maybe too I preferred the V-Type, for modern high-gain amps (DSL, JVM, Engl, Diezel) the V30, but then at least in a 212 closed back cabinet.

V30. (Only translate program, I do not speak Russian.)

i play heavy rifles and always thought the vintage sounded a bit too fizzy and that's what i like more about the v type sounding a bit more round to my ear 😂😂😂 but people seem to hear it different but that's why i like the v type

The V-type sounds a bit boxier and like the V30 just had some mids around idk like 2k taken out, which in turn revealed some more highs but not necessarily in a flattering way. I've always thought the V-type was a great compromise between a V30 and an M65 Creamback. I have a couple but don't use them, for the same reason I don't use the Pro2 strat or tele anymore. They aren't any one thing. For gigging when you need to cover more ground, perfect. But for my studio where I need this sound or that sound, they're a little flavor of everything to my ear which just isn't usually as useful as a specific voicing like V30, alnico blue or G12M.

Holy macpalony, the old one is so much warmer. I can't stand the fizzy highend from the new one 😮

And for me. You can leave out everything beside the heavy section. That's where you can actually hear the differences.

The V-Type seemed to have flatter mids, both low and high. Without carrying out my own proper blind A/B test, I guess I probably tend to prefer it because I can manipulate it better using whatever comes before, making me feel more under control. While the V30 probably always does its own thing (a great one!, but perhaps not always desirable).

The speakers sound similar, but the V30 has a bit more detail/clarity in the highs.

The speaker sounds are so close to each other. Assuming my old / abused ears are not deceiving me, I think the V30 has a bit more bass. Like them both.

I can't hear any difference. What's your take on these speakers?

Made in uk or china ?Its a big diference
@ZillaCabs19 күн бұрын
Chinese, but if you watch our video on the UK vs Chinese you'll see a lot of that is hype, they are well within the error bounds. Most of the difference is down to age and parts available at that time. UK and Chinese V30s are made from the same parts now, they are just assembled in a different location.

That V type is fizzy on high gain and hollow in cleans. Never been a fan, not of the A type, or mixed. V30 all the way in this one.

V-type has a bit of a muffled sound. V30 more presence.
