Celina when I was in high school we were required to do a history project for world history day and I did mine on the Salem witch trials. After lots of studying turns out I was related to two of the people....the proctors...I ended up it taking second place in the category of women's rights. Years later doing so much family history it blows my mind that almost all of the people that were accused, hanged, pressed jurry judges doctors were all related in one way or another. In the process I ended up find some relatives that have a deeper connection to Salem.

Hey celina I am from danvers and I absolutely love that you were able to spread the correct information about the witch trials. True injustice of women. During elementary school we had learned about the history of danvers and salem witch trials, not that I remember much from then considering i am 20 now, I do remember taking a feild trip to the rebecca nurse house, page house, and the Salem Village Witchcraft Victims' Memorial in danvers. i know we went inside the homes they were almost untouched and had tons of historical items. The homes are open to the public on certain days of the week.... You have resparked my interest of the salem witch trials. I wish they had taught us about the witch trials at least 16, being so young they went over alot of peoples heads, and watching your video i learned some new things about my own town. So the majority of the witch trials actually took place in danvers becauce danvers used to be salem. Across from Witchcraft Victims’ Memorial in danvers. is the site of the first meetinghouse of Salem Village which is where the witches were accused. a man named john hathore was one of the leading judges during the witch trials. He also owned a big protion of the area. I am pretty sure you are aware of Danvers State Hospital which is located here in danvers. Danver State is where the first lobotomy took place fun fact. Something you may not know was they the hospital was built on the land that john hathore used to own. That section of danvers is called hathorne, for john hathorne. now i am not sure built the hospital but it is crazy to me that not only did the witch trials happen in danvers but one of the most historical aslylums was alo in danvers on the same land that the judge of the salem withc trials owned. I think if you did a video on danvers state or even came here to investigate that would be amazing, if you ever come back to salem to visit consider visiting danvers (avoid October like you said if you want to be shoulder to shoulder) all the locals know to avoid salem due to tourists from mid sept to mid November... the traffic feels like a chokehold lol). any way the hospital is now apartments (avalon) but there are TB Tunnels underground that you can get into, lots of areas where I think an Investigation could work. Another fun fact is that Arkhham asylum from the Batman and Joker movies is actually based off of Danvers State.

Today, it could be about the color of your skin. Then, it did not matter your skin color; only the fact that you were accused was enough. They did not discriminate about that sort of thing. It was wrong on so many levels and sad. You should also do a video about the witch trials in England and how they ended. Hey, I'm a big history buff and love these types of things, and as a practitioner, these things fuel the flame, so to speak, and they are exciting topics that I am not even entirely sure they talk about anymore in history class.

It was beyond a tragedy, it was a CHOICE, when it comes to religious persecution..back in Salem and now. As a birthright coven Witch, it's only NOW at 55 can I speak about being born into my practice. And the Coven I grew up in, was SOOOO old, it was beyond Generational.. we had sacred space protected by Lay Lines and everything was done outside. Now teaching young Witches about Ritual and how we make our ways I'm the world, because a Witch is part of community. Teaching old ways is hard when Tik Tok shop seems to be the way of modern Witchcraft. 🤯

@@TotallyAstrous if you are asking me, find a coven or an elder Witch and explain your connection. You want a practicing coven that teaches the old ways. So what I mean is, go where you feel the connection. If ANYONE tells you ,you have to buy your herbs or ANYTHING for a Ritual from a specific place, or anything like that RUN! Because we,the Witch holds the power over our herbs, candles and Ritual , not the shop that sold them to you. And get in the habit, of you have something your connected to, be it Candles, herbs, or even what element YOU tap into, it's about you and consistency. Your words are power, just as your intentions are. Find someone who will teach you, those ways.. if you are a craft based Witch make sure you yourself are seen publicly, because we don't hide! Witches have ALWAYS been community based, it has taken religious people to push us into the shadows. Don't allow them. Sorry I could speak for hours, I do actually speak for hours on the subject. @@shannap.lawnerd125 the best thing any Witch even one who hasn't been practicing, the more we are OUT, and normalized and seen the stronger the community becomes as a whole. If you have birthright history, that knowledge is intrinsic to pass on, tell the stories, what you know. The more we speak about the old ways, the more it meets with modern young people who are curious about us. Because trust me, when I had Mormon missionaries come to my house to do yard work, they KNEW they were in the presence of a Witch! We talked our faiths, and when one after he completed his mission and decided to leave the faith, he MARRIED a Queer curious person who now comes to me and.my coven from Arizona ( I'm currently in Oregon) for advice. We are valuable because WE ARE THE BALANCE IN THE COMMUNITY.. sorry to shout but truly we are. We helps and serve EVERYONE regardless of their faith, while most religions look up ( Christians answer to a god, Catholics a man who answers to...)but witches we look OUT. We look towards community, towards our environment and we answer to and more importantly FOR what we do. Do no harm, 😉 is really what Witches bring to community. We are the protectors. The balance. We don't do what we do to BE SEEN, We help for the greater good. To create a balance. But to do so,we need to be out in the community, so people know what our craft is,and what we bring to the community. Soon people will seek you out and the old ways of a community Witch used for blessings, herbs , whatever your individual craft, horticulture agriculture, crafts whatever... people WILL seek you out. Loved this episode. I live not far away from gallows corner in the uk where a lot of our witches were 💀 everytime i drive past or walk by i have to say a little prayer for them. Same here people wanted what they had.

I love visiting Salem, I grew up in New England and learned about the witch trials a lot. But, no one was burned in Salem. All executions during the witch trials in Salem were hangings, and one man was pressed to death. But no burnings. :)

My relatives stopped the Salem Witch Trials! I found out when I was in third grade from my history book (36 for context) and went to my grandfather, and that's when we went over our family line and he shared more with me. I found out a few years ago that they have started LYING on my family's name and have been altering the history. Idk what I can do about it. It was heartcrushint when I saw it. But as a child, It was pretty awesome learning the truth. I actually have interesting ancestors/history on both sides. Although the side on my father's is a lot more vicious/gruesome/crazy what my ancestors went through. Ps: I can't watch this because if the names of my ancestors come up and I find out you have shared the incorrect things, I will end up crying myself to sleep tonight. And...I just can't do that tonight. Eap sice my youngest just left to go to his grandmother's de a month for summer vaca. 😢 I may come back to try to watch the entire thing, but if I hear my family's name and the wrong information, would you like me to message you to share what I and my other relatives know?

I recently discovered that I had family that was part of the Salem witch trials, the witch side of it. Luckily the surviving members got to Canada, But knowing one of my ancestors had to go through that it’s really sad.

I am a direct descendant to Thomas Putnam and prudence Holyoke. They are my 11th times great grandparents. I have always wanted to go to Salem and ask for forgiveness and apologize for their actions. I feel pulled to Salem.

There is a memorial behind a cvs/walgreens, because there’s a cvs on proctor hill right where it happened. Very small, quite understated, but a very important visit for people who want to show respect to the victims

It is such a shame that Christianity has caused so much terror and sorrow. As a witch I have always found it a little odd that we still disrespect these women by continuing to call them what they were called by their murderers instead of what they really were. They were christian people killed by other christian people. They were not witches. Being Pagan, if I was killed because lets say I was Christian, I would not want to be remembered as what I was accused of, but instead of what I was. So although being pagan or a witch is well honestly in my eyes better than but I digress, being accused of something and spending a hundred or more years being called that is sad by all of us. Rest in Peace to those Christian women and men.

I personally always refer to them as "women accused of witchcraft" because it does seem disrespectful to me too, knowing that the overwhelming majority were not witches at all and would have probably been devout Christians like most other people of their time. We know better than they did back then, we shouldn't repeat their mistakes by ignoring their innocence.
