my friend who plays double bass always comes to orchestra practice ON HIS BIKE. with his bass strapped to his back. it always looks ridiculous but also kind of dangerous since you always get the feeling he's going to fall over at any moment.

My personal cello pet peeves: 1. IS THAT A GUITAR??? 2. One unprofessional music teacher made me play the DOUBLE BASS because ”OH YOU PLAY THE CELLO IT’S PRACTICALLY THE SAME” um, NO? They have different strings??? 3. Getting a melody part in an orchestra or a string group and being like ”guys I have melody here so if you didn’t play the highest notes you can get from a violin so loud thanks?” and nothing improves 4. When there’s a door that’s too short 5. Public transportation is hell 6. One time a drunk guy at a train station came up to me and asked what I played and I responded with cello and he said “I ONCE HAD A CELLO WITH EIGHT STRINGS” and I just, okay time to leave Free feel to add to the list :)

Yes!! The struggle is real. No one moves for cellists. They just don't care. And two way doors, and low ceilings and walkways, and narrow ailes. And then the stage itself...DEATHTRAP! Then again, you could break your violin if you’re running too fast with it, and then if you smash it into a wall accidentally, then it won’t be too good. But with a *cello* , you won’t bump into anything since you have to be slow when you’re walking with it. But that’s just *my* opinion on why having a cello is better, though. (I’m a cello beginner in 6th grade, if you didn’t know.).

Nah you're weak af fam. Have you ever tried carrying a full sized cello and *cloth* case by handle only in 100 degree weather for miles just to practice at home? You don't know the true struggle m8

Valentín Alanis Actually this is a full sized cello in a hard case that is much heavier than a cloth case. Also we are walking in 10 degree weather here.

carrying a cello in any weather in any case; Cloth or hard is challenging, let's just agree that this is a big instrument that we love anyway.

I have a rock stop without a thing that you put the chair in between, I also have a case of fabric (it's really fragile) and it doesn't have a flat ending so have to lay down to let it go. The struggle is real

i started cello in 4th grade. i was jealous of the violinists who carried their instruments around so easily. i switched to violin in 5th grade. that was 47 years ago. i never regretted the switch.

I used to have that kind of carbon fiber endpin and it was a living nightmare. It slipped during my junior solo and chamber juries. Now I have the old school iron rod type endpin and I never have any issues. It is a lot heavier, though.

I know right, the pin slipping is so annoying when I practice. Plus my hair gets stuck, but it's so worth it, the sound is just so mesmerizing and the sound is beautiful

3:24 Ug. I can relate to that so much because i play the bari sax and it can be a workout just to carry, let alone up the stairs!!! And it certainly doesn't help that i am extremely short (5ft exactly) so when i lift the instrument normally it still smacks the stairs so i have to bend my arm to lift it higher😑

I relate to the rockstop(?) Thing of playing an instrument and the adjustment part, I play bassoon and my instrument doesn't have a hook for the neck strap so I use the seat strap. I carry my seat strap around my neck 😂 then when I sit down I have to adjust the strap to each different chair haha. Luckily my bassoon isn't as heavy to carry, just have to carry it carefully so it doesn't come apart. Music is worth it though
