Great content as always Jon. Haven’t done this for a while, need to do my van and car. When I had to get a new wheel because it was badly damaged by a pothole, (repair and refinish was same price as new wheel) I used the opportunity and put a couple of coats of Gtecniq G5 wheel armour. It’s so good I found the wheel balancing weights on my driveway the next day after fitting new wheel. 😂

Superb Jon, I've got a set of BMW Alloys getting a refurb and brand new tyres going on, I'm gonna coat them using the G-Techniq C5 coating, never coated wheels before but thought there's never a better time than when they are like brand new and haven't seen the road 😎👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Re arch liners. Have you seen that "Lanoguard" stuff ?. Its a rust treatment for chassis and also used in wheelarches. As well as rust proofing its very Hydrophobic. So has a great self cleaning ability for arches. On a £ per Litre it might work out cheaper for such tasks ?. It comes in a thin liquid spray-on form.

Hi John, Happy New Year - cheers! Am doing all 4 of my stock [summer] wheels from my '17 MK7 GTI today and I had this vid playing while at the work bench. Yessir!...I agree, it-is-a-lot-of-work. Even though I obsessively maintain them during the season, well, they're wheels, and no matter what - they get roughed up! We all have our methods but at the end of the day it's this attention to where most people don't look that makes ALL the difference. Shine on you crazy diamond!

Hi mate. You HAVE to try the new ARTDESHINE WHEEL COAT V2. I mean that thing is just ridiculous. I applied it on wheels last winter and washed them ONLY with my pH Neutral car shampoo. So NO Alcaline or Acidic cleaners, shampoos, iron removers, etc. After a full year, I decided to give them a "proper cleaning" by using ALkaline shampoo and Iron remover after my regular wash and due to the change to winter tires. Anyway - washed them with car shampoo. Then I went on with Alkaline - didn't remove anything extra as the wheels were already clean from regular shampoo LOL. Then I tried Iron remover and this was the best surprise - absolutely ZERO reaction- my wheels were completely free of anything just by using regular shampoo. NOW THAT is what I call a fantastic wheel coating ;)

Next time pop the wheel centre badges out from behind (push out) and ceramic coat inside where the badge sits and the badge all over- those badges get the 'white worm' water and corrosion get in the clear layer in the badge and also prevents the paint from bubbling with trapped dirt and grime where the badge and the wheels centre meets. A high corrosion area on most cars, particularly BMW 👌. Also use some Bilt Hamber under body wax, think its called B.H Dynax UC, for all the aluminium and under body areas. Helps protect from road salt in the winter. I think out roads (UK) needs a good under body clean periodically and a full maintenance and seal in the spring. 🙂

I spent 240 pounds on a machine polish today, a vauxhall combo 2011 white van with slight swirls etc. it took the guy 2 hours and actually looks worse now. I'm so disappointed. I don't own a machine polisher so I'm now spending all weekend with a hand polishing pad to try and save what was a really good condition van.

Good result John. I use the Gyeon tyre dressing but with a pump spray nozzle which makes it really difficult to apply onto an applicator one handed. Not tried the hairdryer tip yet. As a viewer, I kinda prefer videos where the different stages and products are explained as you go along, rather than it all being explained at the start and then the process fast forwarded. With my rubbish memory I forget all the preamble…lol.

Nice job Jon, not sure if the finish it's left is what is I would be happy with. I think you would have been better off with a dedicated Matt ceramic for the wheels. Also nice to hear an improvement in the music😂 I have briefly tested can coat on a matt/satin finish and it puts a gloss on it.

Unless it melts stuff on sight, you won't have any issues with losing wheel weights. Most (if not all) T&G removers are not that strong. If in doubt, spray onto the cloth and wipe, or leave the cloth on the stubborn areas for a little while to soften

Hey John Happy New Year!!!! You are right it does take a long time to do the wheels and the fender liners as well! Would you use Geyon wet coat in a few weeks to protect the fender liners and wheel coating as well? Wax is dead lasts longer In your opinion than D Lux & Gliss? I need to do another coating. Geyon synchro and CSL + Exo ( coated a year apart) did not last longer than 7-8 months here on my Gtd Gold mark 8 daily driver in Tuscany- hot in the Summer and about 5-15 Celsius in the winter! Thanks for your opinion!!! Best Regards, Aimone Castellacci

about to ceramic coat my new wheels (they are satin as well) with carpro dlux. never coated anything but the wheels are brand new so easier prep. I decided for dlux based on your wheel ceramic comparison video and the fact that I can use the rest of the bottle on my plastic exterior trim and some engine bay plastic parts. Not the easiest one to apply they say so we'll see. Also going for Carpro Blackout for the tires.

Happy New Year Jon. Wheels look absolutely superb mate 👍I would've buffed the Gyeon to a matt finish as I'm not a glossy tyre guy. I'd imagine it's easier to see where you've already coated on satin paint. I could be wrong as I've never ceramic'd before. However I'm gonna do this to my wheels, as my first foray into ceramic coating, once I've had one re-powdercoated (lambo bronze 😍😛) after I kerbed it....DOH!!

@@ForensicDetailing Exactly. They're great but unless your a pro coating wheels multiple times a week, it's pointless having to store all year round. What is good however is a wheel dolly stand that functions in the same way however doesn't have the arm so is very portable almost the size of weighing scales.

Great content for the New Year John. I must admit to being uneasy with satin wheels. Its the danger of turning them glossy!
