Cessationists often link the end of the Apostolate to the cessation of the miraculous gifts. In this episode of OFF THE RECORD, Daniel Kolenda delves into Part Two of his series on "The Heresy of Cessationism" entitled "A Cascade of Lies" and begins by challanging the assumption that the apostolic gift has ceased.

Bro! The Holy Spirit gave me your name in a dream before I had ever known who you were! I was a Mormon when I heard a voice At the age of 8 asking me, “don’t you want to know Jesus?” My introduction into faith in Jesus was that He is so real, and He never changes! My conversion interestingly enough was in a denomination that taught cessationism. My youth pastor at the time knew how broken I was before I encountered the living God and I began to share how Christ transformed me! They allowed me to share my testimony in the church!! What Daniele is sharing is so real! Thank you for standing and fighting for the faith!! I love your heart!!

I was saved by a pentacostal pastor. A series of amazing things happened after that. Things that I know were the holy spirit. I am very grateful for the experience. Later I was baptized in a church that follows John M. This created a strange situation because I realized the church that baptized me was supporting someone who was saying the unexplainable (holy spirit driven) events that brought me to faith were not real. Thanks for the video series on cessationism. I was relieved to hear you address it.

I agree with you completely, Daniel. It's not just the fact that they teach Cessationism to others that boils my blood, it's the fact that they create KZbin channels to call out charismatic believers who truly love the Lord and profit off of division in the body. It makes me so mad that they're leading others astray, but what we can do is fight back with the Word of God! I'm thankful for your channel and may God continue to bless you and your family. 😊

@@user-cw3ox2nn5t It's not a matter of interpretation, because there is no Biblical evidence that lends credence to Cessationism. If there is no Scriptural evidence that the gifts that God gave for the benefit of the Church and as a sign to unbelievers ceased, it is absolutely heresy to teach otherwise.
@aprilsanchez5402
@aprilsanchez5402 8 ай бұрын
@@user-cw3ox2nn5t Just because they say they have evidence, it doesn't mean they do. I could make that claim with just about every heretical thing out there. I could say that Jesus was encouraging cannibalism when He told people they had to drink His blood and eat His flesh. I could twist Scripture like Jehovah's Witnesses do and say that the Trinity is heresy and use the verses they try to use to disprove it. You can find scholars to support that, but if there's no Biblical evidence for it, does it make it up for debate? There is such a thing as bad theology. Just because they interpret 1 Corinthians 13 to fit their doctrine (what we're supposed to do is make our theology line up with the Bible and not the other way around), it doesn't mean it's an accurate interpretation. When those verses talk about prophecy perishing, they also say knowledge will perish. Do we have knowledge now? If so, we have prophecy, as they are mentioned together. Ephesians 2:20 doesn't mention spiritual gifts at all. It literally just says that the Church is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Jesus being the cornerstone. They are inserting things in the text that aren't there, because the text needs to line up with their preconceived notions, which is what makes it dangerous and heretical. As Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:1-3 in the latter times, some will depart from faith, because why? They gave heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Why do you think the devil would want to do away with Spiritual Gifts? What are their purpose?

I lean reformed, conservative, and Presbyterian. I absolutely agree with you about the lack of a Biblical basis for Cessationism. What I find truly odd is that many who decry gifts of the Spirit know well enough to speak against women preaching from the pulpit in the church, all the while performing the same type of ex-Scriptural gymnastics of those supporting women preachers to support their position on Spiritual gifts.

I like your explanation as to why you spoke in the tone you did last episode, but I really appreciated the tone in the 1st episode. In the American politically correct age, I think we sugar coat garbage and serve it up as a snack. Paul was so passionate about the gospel that he spoke very strong words to people who were spreading lies!! He even said to let them be cursed. We want our messages to be palatable to everyone, but the very one (Jesus) and afterwards Paul that we follow was not palatable to everyone. I think you were spot on to bring this correction the way you did.

Daniel you are anointed and fit for a time as this to expose this damnable doctrine of cessationism. I may add that those who deny the works of the Holy Spirit according to Jesus, and the works He refers to in context were specifically miracles of the Spirit, are not His sheep in John 10:25-26. Jesus says cessationists are not His sheep. They deserve the utmost disrespect and need to repent. They're misleading many to hell with this doctrine from hell that robs the people from the Holy Spirit. Jesus says not to take away the bread from the children. They disobey Christ. They aren't sola scriptura, they're semi scriptura.

You addressing those who thought you were being disrespectful or contentious or mean in the things you said concerning secessionism, I absolutely love and agree 100% with what you said concerning the subject! My husband was much in the same way concerning this very subject because of the damage that it is done to the lives of believers. much like the Pharisees were when Jesus said they make their converts the twofold child of hell… or like Matthew 23:13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. “ This is one of the best discussion series on the subject I have heard so far. Love and appreciate this series. Thank you, Daniel. It occurs to me that all the cessationist quotes are from "doctors" (PhD's) who attended seminary. Derek Prince (who was himself a gifted teacher in his time had a very dim view of people who obtained their doctorates from seminary, stating, "The fact that a man has been trained in a seminary and has 3 kinds of degrees after his name should be a warning to you to suspect damnable heresy." Just to be clear, he's not claiming all people from seminary are heretics, only that one should exercise heightened caution regarding anything they'd have to say.

Since then, I know what the genuine biblical truth is. The denominational doctrines are both narrow and shallow. Then the good ole’ Holy Spirit took me in multiple experiences to show that the gifts are for today 😅😂😅😂❤❤🎉🎉 one scripture I would use when I didn’t believe that tongues and the baptism of the Spirit was for today, was Matthew 7:21-23. I now see the argument I had was weak, but it might be worth touching on it in case others use it as a reason to stay away from receiving all the Holy Spirit has!

@Daniel Kolenda This is an amazing and much needed teaching, I praise God that I came across your channel, I don't believe things happen by accident or coincidence. I was wrestling with this a couple years ago, even believing in cessationalism, but by God's grace, the more I studied and read scripture everyday over the past few years, the more God has shown me it just isn't true. As well as some personal experiences I've had being an evangelist in Africa for the past 2 years, and personal healings I've received through prayer and laying on of hands. I was even thinking a lot about it recently, because of a teacher I really liked listening to, because of his understanding of the scriptures. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of Dr. John Barnet, but his teachings helped me a lot for different things I was going through, but then I recently came across one where he proudly claimed he is a cessationalist, and he used to even teach at John MacArthur's church, he may even have been his student. But here is the scripture that really got me wondering and worried for some of these cessationalists, and I wonder what your thoughts are on this, if you also think it's talking about the cessationalists here? ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:1‭-‬9‬ ¹But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. ² For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, ⁴ treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these. ⁶ For among them are those who slip into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, ⁷ always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁸ Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men of depraved mind, worthless in regard to the faith. ⁹ But they will not make further progress; for their foolishness will be obvious to all, just as was that also of Jannes and Jambres. I pray God opens their eyes to the truth and they repent before it's too late, because I'm afraid some of them aren't truly saved according to how Jesus Himself taught we are saved in the Gospel. I hope youre able to see this and I pray God continues to protect you, guide you, and bless you and yours always. God bless you for being obedient to Him and speaking biblical truth in a world full of lies. 🙏

@nelsonbanuchi7070, don't fall into the Calvinism/Arminianism false dichotomy. There are far more soteriological choices than those, and at base Calvinism and Arminianism are kissing cousins birthed from the same Augustinian philosophy/theology. Remember, Jacob Arminius himself was a Calvinist and held pretty much to the same 5 points that is popularly known as TULIP today.

Havent gotten to watch the whole video.. but i agree with Daniel. It is hard for me to wrestle with the idea that these are my brothers in Christ. If you say you Love God, but hate your brother, you are a liar. How can you love God whom you cant see, yet hate your brother whom you can see?

I love OFF THE RECORD and hearing from your heart and mind with your personality. It seems to me that Jesus also replied to the Pharisees with some snarky comments. ... you're so right about "treating Cessationism with the antipathy and disrespect that it deserves! It doesn't deserve to be treated as a reasonable position." I was just reading Mark 3:22ff this morning and I could almost hear Jesus' tone of voice ringing in my ears! Calling out the absurdity of discrediting his miraculous gift as a work of "Beelzebub"! You keep going Daniel...following in Jesus' footsteps;-)

I have to say... I loved your tone in the first video because it was funny but helped get the point across. Especially when you said, "They are embarrassed of us." I have been wrestling with all these Cessationism videos that keep popping up on my feed, and that one line summed up why they care so much about people's gifts.

Awesome😃 , keep preaching the truth brother. My gf doesn't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but she's born again , she fellowships with those that teach they have ceased. I believe & experience them daily , we really disagree & I think we might have to go our separate ways I really wonder why these guys would feel/think/interpret it that way - these are modern Sadducees & Pharisees, religious people that are trying to keep us from the reality of God's word/work.

I think you are making a wise decision. Unless she aligns her viewpoint to a Biblical one, it will save you a lot of heartache in the long run. It's difficult to be married while disagreeing on such an important thing and then bringing kids in the mix on top of that. Who knows? Maybe after a temporary break-up, the Lord may even open her eyes.

@@aprilsanchez5402 Yeah , she went to a bible college that believes/teaches that heresy so she really feels like she's in the know. I decided to let her go , she's a good person but she's decived. I have met her go. To make matter's worst im a minister of the gospel & I can't compromise the word for a relationship, it just wasn't meant to be. This video helped me to realize that.

Someone complained about sarcasm and criticism? That person needs to reread Elijah versus the Priests of Baal, and then go reread Jesus Christ versus the Farisees, and about the God of the Bible who Himself mocks. Luther and Huss were ruthless mockers. The heresy of Cessationism absolutely deserves what's coming.

I am so GRATEFUL for this teaching making this doctrine of demons so plain. Regarding the Hebrews 1:1-2 scripture you spoke about in answering the question of the man.....can we not also take from Hebrews 1:2....."He has spoken to us by His Son"..... that this proves so clearly the five-fold ministry seeing that as Ephesians 4:8 tells us..... [8] Therefore it says, “When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN.” We see clearly what the gifts of Christ is that He bestowed on men......‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:11‬ ‭ESV‬‬ [11] And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, So the FULL five-fold ministry IS the expression of THE SON, JESUS CHRIST in His Body! We have for many years been Blessed by you and your ministry and thankful for your Love of Christ!!

Thank you also for clarifying that Eph 4 refers to ministry gifts, as opposed to the foundation of the apostles and prophets. Makes sense. In fact, makes a lot of sense. And you also tied it in nicely with fathers and 'the' fathers. I think you go that!

Actually, I love your tone on this. I have seen too many charismatics/continuationists who will not speak strongly against cessationism, who mealy mouth it and whimper about how there is sooo much wrong with charismatics, but...or they pander to the cessationists to the point that their pushback is ineffective. This belief IS heretical because it tells us to ignore what the Bible clearly tells us to do (don't despise prophecy, seek the gifts, do not forbid the speaking in tongues) and insists that to be a "Protestant" one must be a cessationist. And the Puritans were no great shakes either. They believed that they had to give a testimony to prove their election to even be allowed to be members of the church, they believed that to attain salvation it was necessary to be a member of the church (no salvation outside the church...sound familiar?), and that election was necessary for salvation, not belief in Christ alone through faith. They were Calvinistic Anglican/Catholics and I don't see where they actually loved Christ or reflected that love in the society they built in the New England colonies.
