If the last 4 years has taught me anything it's taught me that so called "EXPERTS" are usually not... We need to do our own research! Ask Holy Spirit to give you the promise of the Father, the Baptism Luke 24:49, and the book of Acts. Find out for yourself! It's our inheritance! God bless.

Thank you for calling out their silliness. Keep it up. How do they handle the fact that so many of their own missionaries today are baptized in the Holy Spirit, as a necessary component of living and ministering in difficult places while they sit in their ivory churches here in the US and Europe and tell everyone that it's not real?

Thank you Daniel so much. Appreciate your insights on this all too important issue. This is just absolute blatant fabrication. Early church leaders up until now have always believed in the miraculous gifts. Even examples of church leaders operating in the gifts. Cessationism was and continues to be a false doctrine. The Bible is miracle after miracle from beginning to end. They still continue to this day. They haven't ceased. Praise God. Our God is a miracle working God

If the gift of healing was the ability to heal at will why don’t cessationists hold that same standard to the OT prophets? Surely they wouldn’t expect Isaiah or Jeremiah to prophecy at will as soon as they demand them to. So if they understand prophecy isn’t by man’s will but when God moves the prophet or speaks to the prophet, why do they then say this for healing? They’re dishonest. We shall now rename the cessationist camp, THE LACK OF FAITH MOVEMENT

I read somewhere that some cessationist missionaries went somewhere, I think it was Ethiopia, to evangelize some wild tribes, and after a few years they managed to translate the gospel according to John and Acts, after which a civil war started and they had to leave the country in great haste, before they could say that the times with miracles passed with the last Apostle. When they came back a few years later they were horrified because their disciples were casting out devils, healing the sick, cleansing the lepers, raising the dead, and when they were persecuted they were singing songs of praise. God bless you!

Thanks for videos. I'd considered doing this stuff, but I have a face for radio and a voice for the profoundly deaf. Anyhow, I posted this comment on a Justin Peters video - Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." That's cessation theology in the bin. There were miracles in the old testament. There were miracles in the new testament, there is evidence of miracles to this day. And why would Paul tell the Corinthians "Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy" if they were to cease upon his death? What's so special about him? He was a sinner saved by grace like anyone else. The apostles were chosen by pure grace. Their death, glorious as most of them suffered for Christ, was not the end of the Holy Spirit. If the early church needed gifts, why not the modern church?

Not against miracles but against people faking miracles and gifts. I am not a cessasionist but let's be honest, most charismatic leaders today are just lovers if money and liars. Most people in charismatic churches don't care much about the word of God and just run after the next empty promise or miracle that never changes their lives. Not to mention blatantly contradicting the Bible with their false revelations. I was part of a pentecostal church for a few years in my youth and in all congregations I have been, everyvody just faked gifts, made false prophecies, and made empty promises to people. It's all talk but when it gets to actually making a difference it adds up to nothing. It's the word of God that changes lives. And taking it seriously.

@@sammcnamara1763 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 4 There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. 5 There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. 6 There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people. Speaking in tongues is used to speak to God and to speak to men of another language as a sign to them from God. The gifts are not gone. They might seem gone because of circumstances like lacking faith but they are of the Holy Spirit to glorify His church just like the early church. Very early last year I was talking to a coworker who plows snow with me. It was the end of our routs and we were standing outside our trucks. I noticed His voice had been getting extremely raspy for a couple weeks. He hasn’t accepted the Lord but is interested. I started talking to him about Jesus Christ and His love for people and how He heals (I hadn’t brought up his throat). As we talked for about a half hour his voice started to clear up. After I left he called me to talk about something and ended up mentioning his throat and how it was feeling better while we spoke. It was the Spirit. Unfortunately I’ve been in a battle to believe the Lord loves me or would forgive me because Christians attacked me for the things I have experienced like the Lord or His angel speaking to me in my sleep or dreams of future events in the world or small family issues. It’s sad that men don’t simply read the Bible and accept that if a believer is obedient to the Lord he must love Him and if a miracle or many happen the devil isn’t trying to glorify places of obedience to God. In John 14:11 Jesus told men to at least believe Him for the miracles sake. I do not believe miracles randomly happen. I believe they happen around the gift on a person.

Firstly, who cares what the 'church fathers' thought? Cherry picking from what? From a strawman argument? Paul said that as soon as he goes bad guys are going to come into the church. They did, and have been here for 2000 years. If you are going to consider the church fathers then you have to examine them as much as anyone else. Paul charges Christians with the task of making sure, those who we listen to in the present, of checking they don't bring a different gospel to him. People of a different time are now waiting for the judgement of God, they are no concern of ours, they are long gone, we do not need to consider their writings. Paul alone is the voice of authority. We check all that is taught against the scriptures he taught. We do not need to consider the writings of the 'church fathers'. This is why neither side can ever win when they try and unbiblically use the unanointed scriptures of the 'church fathers'. We have the bible, so just read the bible. If you read these guys, you have less time to consider the true gospel penned by Paul. The moment you look to history to support your argument you have already lost the argument. What you are doing in reality is I follow Paul, Apollos, Polycarp Et al.

I have yet to find a passage from Paul that disagrees with Jesus. However, I don't just look for doctrine, I look for a word that I can have (Greek 'echo') and that can have me. When I understand what the text is saying at its simplest level, I wait upon God for light and life. In my experience, as I wait I find as the word start to speak to me, or rather examine me, the old man in me starts to get very uncomfortable. From that moment on it is about submit to the Lordship of Christ and accepting how he dealt with the flesh is how the word will deal with the flesh in my as I abide in His word. As I abide I find I know the truth, as if I was Christ Himself, and I find a freedom from the nature of the old man in me.....

The scholars in the video should be embarrassed for describing church history as cessationist. And if they so quickly join in with the historic church for condemning Montanists they need to be consistent and affirm the dogmas of Rome and the Orthodox tradition that were affirmed in those councils and synods. Ah, but that would require them not to pick and choose- the very thing they falsely accuse Charismatic historians of doing.

"Tantamount to the charismatic movement"? Little is known about Montanism other than what their opponents wrote about them. All we really know that they had in common with all charismatics was their belief in prophesying. Their other supposed views are affirmed by some charismatics but not all. The charismatic movement runs the gamut from Neo Pentecostals to Bapticostals to signs & wonders adherents to charismatic Catholics. So how can you say that the Montanists were virtually the same as charismatics? What the second century church rejected was tantamount to extremism in the fringes of the charismatic movement.

I can agree that many church fathers testified to exorcism of demons and healing miracles also happened in their congregations. But this does not necessarily mean that these signs came from God. So the fact that miracles have happened in church history is not the problem with the reasoning. Deuteronomy 12:32-13:1-4 specifically warns us against following a message from a prophet - just because he does a sign that causes people to stand in awe. In fact, although now Mark 16 says that "these signs shall follow them that believe" - we have already been told in the Jewish Bible (the Christian OT) - that "we shall NOT follow a sign" (believe a message) - even when the sign actually occurs, - without discerning what it is that is being said about God. Any sign or miracle performed by a prophet - to convince that he speaks for God - does not automatically confirm that the miracle worker's message is indeed according to the Torah. * The point of the original Bible: If the message was not according to the Torah that Moses had taught the Jewish people - even when a "sign" was done by a prophet, then one should neither believe the prophet nor accept his sign. If what he says about God does not agree with what God has already revealed about Himself, or what God's people already know about Him, then he would be judged a false prophet (and we know what happened to them). * Another thing is that "the prophetic time" ended about 400 years already before our era. What this means to be able to trust what the NT authors wrote about Jesus and what the Christian church has said since then, you can probably figure out on your own. The supernatural signs and wonders performed by true prophets and described in the Tanach (both before and after Moses), also show that false prophets (in the wrong "image of God") often tried to convince others by using "confirming signs and wonders". Conclusion: Just because someone confirms their message with "accompanying signs" does not mean their message is correct. This means that even though "these signs and wonders" seem to be happening today (many of which are based on illusions and pain relief through suggestion) we should not automatically accept and believe the messenger's message just because he does a sign. The main thing is to test what a preacher says about who God is, and to only follow a message that describes the God of Moses - even if there is a "confirming sign". A word to the wise.

Why defend God's miracles by arguing about it with people who will defend, "Knowledge (that only) puffs up?" Keep doing it and documenting it so there can be absolutely no doubt God is, "The same yesterday, today, and forever." All unbelievers see from this is a church arguing, which pushes them away. That is not evangelism. It is pride.

That's why you need to check always sources. And to be honest. When you think the gifts are ceased, it is an empty faith. You dont need the Holy Spirit. Even not to understand the Scriptures, because for that, are only theologians who teach you what they think you need. The relationship with God is poor. The HS is actually only necessary to seal you. But not teach, comfort you at personal level. Even not to show or demonstrate the Love He got for others.

Since I attend the Assembly of God denomination, I tend to believe that miracles still occur but are rare.

Same experience here. Also, cessasionists do believe in miracles, just not that people have gifts to freely operate miracles like the apostles. I am not a cessasionist myself, but I can't honestly defend any of the pentecostal or charismatic churches I came to know over the years. People fake tongues, miracles and prophecies all the time. It's a lot of talk but it doesn't changes people lives. Not to mention when those prophecies or revelations clearly contradict the word of God. I am now a reformed Christian because that provides a far better interpretation of the Gospel, though I am also wary of those who deny its power and thinking being right about doctrine somehow saves.

@@Luiz__Silva The Assemblies has changed through the year's on some major doctrines. In the 1980s I got a call from a brother at the church if I was interested in being a deacon. I said yes but he needed to ask me two questions if I qualified. First one was if I was divorced and I said no. The next question was do I speak in tongues. Because I said nope on that question, I didn't qualify. Now we have leadership that have divorced and remarried and an associate pastor and a deacon that do not speak in tongues. These two teachings were I feel major beliefs in this Pentecostal denomination.

Case in point. You use Augustine chapter in the City of God to prove he believed in miracles. This same Augustine who leaned on Greek philosophy to interpret scripture and coined the idea of a 'just' and 'holy' war? Give me a break. Seriously, stop looking to the past and just look to the scriptures. All scripture (that alone that is in the bible and alone is anointed) produces faith. Read the scriptures and you will have faith. Everything else is a 'methodeia' distraction. That comes from another camp, not the camp of God.

Praying for you, Pastor Daniel. You are very close to the fullness of Truth. And that fullness of Truth is that Martin Luther was a False Prophet and the Reformation a terrible mistake. "All the waters of the Elbe would not yield me tears sufficient to weep for the miseries caused by the Reformation". Philip Melanchthon, the most enlightened of the "Reformers".

Without Martin Luther we wouldn't be able to read the Bible. He was excommunicated for letting bibles be printed in German so that anyone could own and read, not just the priests who had it locked up away from anyone. He literally risked his life so that everyone could read scriptures whenever they want to.

Taken out of context. We'd be in a horrible mess without the Reformation.

I’ve think we need to abandon our Hellenistic religion, our Hellenistic God that we pray to and our Hellenistic faith in his son Jesus, and we need to return to the roots of the faith of the first century church that they lived even in the second century, and experienced the power of God in peoples lives. We need to return to Torah to fully understand God’s plan, not only for salvation before the end times and we need to learn how to endure in God’s word. remember the Way is narrow and so is the gate and the more you travel that road the narrower it gets, but your dependence upon Yeshua and Jehovah grow stronger and stronger.

Really? Interesting. So then, read the masterpiece novel “Where Do We Go Now, LORD? - Burke.” Explains much. Very much. Enjoy!
