It’s interesting to know in the end the the two male sailors that mermaid tried to seduce were an LGBTQ interpreted gay couple, there sure are some popular LGBTQ couples these days in kids games, kids, cartoons, kids comics, as well as Anime these days. Such as Ryuko and Mako from Kill La Kill, some Gem gay Couples and sometimes human-Gem inter species gay couples, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen from adventure time, and I think that Rusty Pete and Captain Slag from The Ratchet and Clank Future Trilogy are an LGBTQ type couple too I think? But this is the second LGBTQ 3D Student Cartoon I’ve seen since that critically acclaimed student cartoon: In a Heartbeat.

Not saying a character has to have a reason to be gay but this story is clearly built around contrasting the gay sailor sexuality and the folklore of sirens luring men to sea
