CGRundertow PAPER MARIO for Nintendo 64 Video Game Review

It's a real shame this game got released during the tail end of the N64's lifespan, but at the same time it's an excellent swansong (ironic seeing as the hook for N64 was 3D graphics). As someone who had played friends', family's and even Best Buy's N64 for years, I finally got to own one in 2000, a whole year before the Gamecube launched. I had quite the library of instant classics to explore, yet arriving so late to the party I was more inclined to notice late-life titles like this while others felt the system was done and were content with Counterstrike LAN parties, their brand new Dreamcast or even what the PS1/PS2 had to offer. This was one such game, and I've played it several times over. It may have been outshone by its Gamecube sequel, but it's still a gem nonetheless.

Why the N64 was excellent during its lifespan from 1996-2001 1996: Super Mario 64 1997: Diddy Kong Racing and Star Fox 64, Mario Kart 64 1998: Ocarina of Time, Banjo Kazooie, Hey You Pikachu! (the height of n64) 1999: Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Stadium 2000: Majora's Mask, Mario Tennis, Banjo Tooie 2001: Paper Mario, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and the Gamecube comes out in November 2001

Quest 64 had good ideas at the time, but they were ruined by their execution. No wonder it didn't get a better name than Quest 64; there was really NOTHING about it that made it deserve better.

cgr under tow really isnt my cup of tea they managted to fuck up this review i still dont realy understand whether he liked the game behind the way he talks it needs refrences that mark uses to show me whether or not to try it. Bring back dave he is missed by this classic game room fan. Hope to see cgr undertow off and dave back on these reveiws these jokers dont deserver to review games. I find that i fall asleep in the middle of cgr undertow videos. Mark and dave always keep my attention.

I didn't care for this title. I played SMRPG and it was amazing so as a result I had high expectations for this game. It failed to live up to them. SMRPGs story was simply lightyears ahead of this. Sure they both share the "save the princess" kind of plot, but what happens AFTER you save the princess? Well you team up with that princess and your sworn rival to overcome the greatest enemy the world has ever known of course! I have several other peeves but that's where PM falls short, its story.
