It has been an amazing journey, watching you gain confidence, watching your on camera personality grow, watching you gain experience, and now here you are getting gifts from Rick Vetter, something you'd never have imagined at the start. You have so many friends in the hobby, have become a recognized voice on spiders and invert care. A million waste of time channels out there, I've enjoyed every moment you've produced, and I'm 57 years in wildlife education....you're never boring. Thanks, Kat, keep blossoming...

Unfortunately it is illegal to import Peacock Spiders outside of Australia, and to be honest there aren't many breeders of Peacock Spiders within Australia. I only know of one, I think it's due to the fact that they have an extremely short lifespan. Anyway love your videos 😊 Much love from Perth, Western Australia.

It also sounds like they really just don't do well in captivity, which is a bummer. I was just reading some articles a couple days ago about them and they're such amazing little critters! New species are being found all the time, so who knows, maybe someday someone will be able to keep and breed them in captivity🤞

Hi Kat! Wow, Chai is a prolific little lady! Tiny slings make me really nervous. It's really cool that you are able to share your experience without being a know it all. I'm in a couple of tarantula groups and some hobbyists are brutal in the way they respond to questions. Not everyone is or will be an " expert" but are nonetheless capable of helping others who have less experience. Another great video from my favorite KZbinr.

Kat, thank you for posting updates about Chai's egg sacs. I am one of the many you mentioned who bought an adult female jumping spider and about a month later had a surprise egg sac! I was super nervous about what to do, but watching your experiences really helped. I ended up removing the egg sac using a safety razor like you did with Chai's second sac and put her with it in a separate container. It looks like everything went well because the babies just emerged today and are running around! They are so cute :) In total it was almost exactly a month between when she laid the sac and when the babies emerged!

I’m sure you hear it all the time but I was terrified of spiders! Especially the big butt ones! And I always cried anytime I had to dispose of one when I was younger. Since I’ve started watching your videos I have came across 3 spiders. One i saved from the pool with the pool net, second was with a catch cup, and the third one had a small egg sack it was carrying around. I let it crawl on a very long stick and took it over to the bushes! 🥺 I still get squeamish at times but just feel so much better knowing you don’t gave to kill spiders because you’re afraid!

Ok sooooo caught a wild audax like 3 months ago. Thought for sure it was a male, named him Barty, and saw him make his final molt. Lately Barty seemed to have moved from his old molt retreat to the corner of his enclosure where he's busy webbin' away. Came to check on him this morning and I'm 99% sure there's a tan blob in there. WHAT A RIDE. For catching a random spider in a mailbox, Barty's been a freaking rollercoaster of fun. Learning more and more about her every day and I'm honestly glad I don't have to just say goodbye to spider care once she moves on from this earth. Hoping to keep her kin around as long as I can, but it will be a journey. Thanks for the tips!!

One of my jumpers I raised from small was missing for a week and I finally found her and rehoused her. She had had 2 infertile egg sacks previously so I hoped she didn't find a male. I was adjusting her corkbark last week when I realized that the piece I took out had an egg sack mixed in with dead flies and such. It was dark and I set it aside without much thought. Well now I have dozens of little jumpers hatching in the bark so I've devided them up with plenty of fruit flies. The odd thing is that some are super tiny. I was glad to see one feeding but I think I'll try to separate them out to give a better chance. I'll be letting them go once they have a good start since they are local type. Black with red or red striped abdo. One is lighter with dark stripes so I have it separated out. It's given me confidence in raising another type of sling.

Chai reminds me of a peregrine falcon female who took over the downtown nest in my city. She was nicknamed Madame X because while peregrines are supposed to mate for life she went through like 3 or 4 males in her life. Anyway like Chai she ended up living much longer than expected for a wild bird and hatched many fledglings from that nest. It was still sad though the year she didn't come back to the nest.

I was so surprised to see not one, but _two_ spiders in my bedroom last night. I mention it because one was a tiny little jumping spider, just barely bigger than the size of the sling from Chai's 1st sac. I watched it for a little while, but it was so tiny I needed a flashlight to see it properly, and the light freaked it out a bit so I let it be. The second one I don't know what kind it was, but it was _zooming_ around on my wall and curtains like it was being chased by a ghost! It was really funny to watch! 😂

Very cool! Mine had an egg sac that I didn't even know about. I came home from work and POOF! I had baby jumping spiders everywhere in my apartment. For the next 4 months I kept catching and releasing jumping spiders back into the wild. I did have a gnat problem at the time so they were well fed lol. F.Y.I the gnat problem is gone now. My female passed over the winter which freed up an enclose for a tarantula sling. One of my 4 C. versicolor slings were housed in there but they are a juvenile so they aren't in there anymore. Next T will be an LP and maybe and OBT.
