The flickering on the original is taking advantage of the original Game Boy's screen response time, to make the fades look smoother and the text look transparent. GBC couldn't do transparencies either so they flickered the credit text there too - doesn't look right on an emulator.

I just finished the GBC version on 3DS and it did the flickering stuff correctly. This emulator....yeah...not good

This game means so much to me. I remember every day I went to school I would hide in the bathroom and play this just to skip the time. Somedays I would get caught and my teacher would take it away from me but that would never stop me. When I got to the final boss (no spoilers) I gathered all of my friends in the morning and beat the final boss. I felt so accomplished. I rate this game a 10/10 would recommend to anybody.

I think it's more likely she was trapped in the dream like Link was. She mentions dreaming of flying over the sea. It was probably memories, and you'll notice there were two seagulls in all endings, which I think are Marin and Tarin.

It still bothers me how the Wind Fish flies off and leaves Link afloat on some drift wood in the middle of the ocean with no provisions or shade from the sun. Though yeah, that barrel in Switch version likely contains some food or water.

The executive producer’s name always appears at the end of a Nintendo game credits roll. In the 1993 GB and 1998 GBC versions, it’s Hiroshi Yamauchi, who died in 2013. In the 2019 Switch version, it’s Shuntaro Furukawa.

@@hisstatus I believe that 7:25 is the sound of the Windfish using his powers (that he clearly got because his dream alone was able to create an entire island) to somehow put that part of his soul that represents Marin (since everyone on the island is only a reflection of the Windfish's inner world) into a seagull, just like he did with a part of his soul that he put into the owl in his dream.

I had this game on my gameboy pocket now the Dx version Rom for my boy and loving it started playing seasons and ages that takes place right after i also started the switch version on links awakening to such a great time in the zelda world hope they remake ages and seasons next from 8 years old to 31 now the game still makes me excited so cool to read the comments

happy 30th anniversary the legend of zelda: link's awakening!!! :3 with how they switched the remake to being before the oracle games would've liked in it's ending maybe zelda picking him him up on her own ship/seeing the islands in the distance as the original's was a bit dark not knowing if link ever found land.

I played the original on my gameboy pocket so many times and never knew there was a secret ending. I didn’t even realize what the numbers meant on the save file. I never got a chance to play the Dx version either. Super happy to have played it on Switch. Going through a replay now.

If I could work on a Zelda game. I would bring back the dream world. Like if there’s a big zelda title. They could make Link be put to sleep through curse or magic by an enemy. And when Link is about to get killed through his dreams. Marin would come through as a seagull, assist Link and Link would wake up and continue the main adventure. The little moment would be a nod to the veteran and new zelda players and we would at least know that Link still remembers his Dream.

It’s due to the emulator not being able to handle the flickering screen refresh used in the original hardware to achieve a transparent effect.

As great as this game was on the Switch, it felt like it lost a lot of its difficulty. Game was hard in 2D, but one it moved to 3D it felt like it was on easy mode. I rarely died vs the DX version.

I was an adult when I played it on the Game Boy. Didn't stick with me. I think you had to be That Age for an emotional impact. Played the remake and it's cute but very underwhelming. People cry for Marin, but Link's marooned on the sea and might die the slow death of a rat in a trap. He's hallucinating. That's the real tragedy. Screw those dream dorks.

@@charu1473 Well, part of my problem with the original was that it was relegated to handheld, which is not my preferred gaming style. My Switch stays docked, so I could play this on a television. Also, I played the original in my twenties and am now in my forties. I thought perhaps time and the update would make a difference. There are many entertainment products I tried at one point and didn't care for, then waited awhile and ended up loving. This one I realized was probably one of those you had to be a child to appreciate the most. It has a childlike quality about it that's fine, just not what I love about this franchise I've worshiped since the late '80s. I'm not sure why that's difficult to understand.

Wrong, I too was an adult when I played on the GB and "sticked" with me and now on my my late forties and appreciate it, and the original more that the new version, even if I never liked the portable consoles, but I appreciate a good game regardless of the console, you don´t need to be a child to appreciate it "the most", and obviously there are a lot of grownups who appreciate it, I don´t know why is so difficult to understand that, you asume that your point is "difficult to understand", but is very understandable, I think is more difficult to understand why you complain about someone "presuming" to know you (I don´t think he did) but you "presume" (at least that how it looks, I know I could be totally wrong) that people don´t understand your point of view, your opinion is "I think you have to be at That Age for an emotional impact", and others opinion is: no, you don´t have to be at certain age to appreciate stuff (unless it is adult stuff like marriage, then yes, you need to be at certain age to appreciate it) an adult can easily appreciate good videogames, is that difficult to understand?
