Although this is 5 years old, I’m very glad I stumbled upon it. It looks way neater than the standard way of DC edges. Thank you.

Brilliant! 🎉 This is the best technique I've seen to avoid the ugly turning chain! Thank you! 😀

I forgot to say how this also cured the problem I had with the ending stitch which always gave me great difficulty. Now it doesn't tighten up making it hard to know exactly where the stitch is and it's a breeze to insert your hook. Thanks again for the video!

I've only been crocheting a few months and I love the dc stitch and use it as my main stich (so far) ...but have hated the holes caused by the turning chains. I tried several other techniques to remedy the problem and they were quite an improvement .. but for me, this is it and I love it. It took awhile to get it but finally it gelled. Thanks for the video!

I'm glad you liked this tutorial. I also hate the holes the starting chain creates especially crocheting in the round. Check my tutorial how to make a straight and invisible Double Crochet seam: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqTXoGaZbtCpr6s

Thank you!! My OCD goes nuts when I have the ch-3 gap, now I don't. I am working on a pattern that uses the Arrow stitch and this technique is perfect to avoid any issues with the gap. Once I adjusted my tension no more gaps or bulges... Again thank you!!!!

this looks fabulous! do you do this "chainless" stitch immediately after making your foundation chain? and if you don't, which stitch do you begin?
@lovelyknitcrochetbyyanina9095 жыл бұрын
In the first row I usually just chain 2 for a DC row, the following rows are more important to keep the edge nicer))
@muttlee12135 жыл бұрын
@@lovelyknitcrochetbyyanina909 so you "chain" however many, then start your DC in the 2nd chain? then subsequent chains, the magic chainless? perfect!
@lovelyknitcrochetbyyanina9095 жыл бұрын
muttlee1213 for a fabric of say 10 st wide you chain 10, then chain 2, DC in the 3rd st. and all the rest. You should have a row of 10 DC sts. In the next row instead of chain 2 in the beginning, do the chainless DC.

Hi I have been crochet for long time and I tried so many time to avoid the hole at the end ...i'am glade I found this tutorial can't wait to try it ! Have a question i'am making a cowl scarf and it say to do te alternative turning chain .But the pattern says chain 3 or the csdc(1dc, 2ch,1 SC) in same st as the beg ch3*sk2sts ,(2dc,2 check ,1 SC)in the next st repeat from*to* do I need to skip the Frist st or work in it? Thank you
@lovelyknitcrochetbyyanina9097 жыл бұрын
Maria Trinchini The reason you would do a Chainless DC stitch, so you can skip the first stitch and the fabric would have a straight edge - it works well with a simple all Dc st fabric. Depending on the stitch pattern you may or may not skip the first st. You just have to make sure your pattern is not affected by this skip.

How do you do this in the round?
@lovelyknitcrochetbyyanina9097 жыл бұрын
April Most I never tried it in the round, as I prefer chaining 2 and joining to the 1st stitch to make the seam invisible. But if you want to do it, just join to the first stitch each time, to the chainless DC basically. I’m not sure if you can avoid the slanted seam doing it this way, though. You’ll never know until you try)
