FYI. policy in China is that pickups will be scrapped after 15 years and are limited driving in some roads in cities. but this policy doesn't apply to SUV. that's why this car is designed, looks like a pickup but registered as a SUV.

Here in Australia (where we're getting a tonne of Chinese EVs) I was always sad the that back in the early 2000s the GM Holden SSX concept never made it to manufacturing. honestly, its vehicles like these that excite me, because people like to say the Chinese automakers have zero imagination and always copy from the west. But that is 100% original and awesome. Not for me cuz I've always hated that vehicle shape (BMW series 6 and whatever the mercedes one is ew...) but it shows that while everyone else was sleeping on their designs, these designers were making something new, and pushing innovation while everyone else just gave us the same thing, just slightly updated. Today i looked at 7 seater Toyota Landcruiser 300 that sells for a staggering, 150k USD, with such old fashioned tech i cant help but compare it to the U8 from BYD that retails for the same price. Legacy automakers are getting left behind because they cling to their identities too much.

Maybe at the expense of turning radius? Both Model Y and Mach E have large frunks, and turn like a boat, whereas the VW ID.4 has zero frunk, but it also means they put all the under hood components in the enter and the ID.4 can turn on a dime. I'd take the turning radius over a frunk anyday.

The exterior design is very interesting and innovative. I really like it a lot. The interior...not so much. Good seating and storage features but way too spartan and boring. That pink colour is horrid! The price is also reasonable and great value for dollar. Chinese automakers are leaving the US automakers in the dust.

THATS A PLUS SIZED EV HONDA CRX !😂 But tbh thats would actually look great lowered with some bbs style wheels. Regardless its still offers some very innovative features too like that overhead screen and zero gravity seats and full folding rear passenger seat . It the perfect date car for 2 or a beach / vacation car for a group of friends!

I love quirky cars. Like a Pontiac Aztek, Honda CrossTour, and. Hyundai Santa Cruz had a baby. It would be great for me as I have light duty needs for DIY and Gardening runs. The interior is a bit too monochrome for me but the colors options are at least more exciting than the North American options. How is the rear window visibility?

8:26 Now that's where we're gonna hit a snag. This is an SUV in China, so you cannot haul anything the way you haul things with a pickup-truck. Yeah, those camping gear things could stretch out from the exposed rear cargo trunk when it's off the roadway, but as long as it's on public roads, the camping gear better fit neatly in the sealed shut trunk, or the traffic cops will absolutely ruin your life. This is only a half decent pickup truck substitute, [when stationary], or in other words, [in the showroom].

The competition and size of the market in China really allows for this kind of designs to try and make them stand out. Not too much of the safe and staid designs that the legacy auto comes up with. Combined with their extremely competitive prices, no wonder legacy auto countries are absolutely terrified of the Chinese EVs coming to their shores.
