That magnet in the bottom of your differential should have been removed with your gloved hand and all of the metal shavings wiped off of the magnet first before you started blowing them back up in there with brake clean. Hope this helps the next time you change your differential I hope that you actually pick that magnet up off the bottom of the differential and wipe it clean with a cloth and spray it clean with some brake clean and put it back in there so that it's brand new clean and can catch the rest of the metal shavings from you driving in the future. Either way if I haven't waited long enough in the video to seen you clean the magnet yet this magnet still should have been cleaned before you blasted it was brake cleaner and blasted all the metal shavings off the top back into the differential again

How much fluid did it take ?? At the part store they said 1.9 quarts , but everything I read online says 2.5 I have a 2008 3.7

Was ur bolts hard to take out? Because i was able to get them all but the very top one. And any ideas how to get it off..i kinda chipped it

Weld a little metal onto it. Use that as a key to turn.

Somewhat yes, my main issue was the gear bearing inner/outer which I had replaced and all is good.

That oil looked really bad, never changed..

Yes it was very bad oil. After changing the gear oil, vehicle performance improved significantly

You also should have gotten a rag and wiped the rest of that nasty brake clean out of the bottom that's going to mix with your oil and cause the viscosity of the gear oil to be wonky from the start because you have brake clean mixed in with it I mean come the fuck on man and you never clean the magnet off the magnet will come off of the bottom of the differential so you can hold it in your hand and clean it with a grease rag thoroughly

Was your issue a humming sound at a certain speed? Reason for asking is that my 3.7 2007 Commander has a humming sound that I hear towards 55 to 60 mph. Im already planning on doing the differentials and transfer case, followed by the Trans filter shortly afterwards. But was wondering how yours was going.

Charlie, humming noise was due to bad inner and outer gear bearing and I replaced both and noise went away. Yes, noise was accelerated on 30mph plus

Im having the same problem at 55-60 mph it starts humming and I’m trying to fix it

No no no i had this problem and it was the drive shaft. You can either replace the whole thing for about 200$ or rebuild it for about 50$! 100% sure that’s your issue with the humming at high speeds too.

100% the drive shaft. Stealership did this to me years ago. Changed transfer case, front dif, & front wheel bearings. They gave me my commander back still w/a bearing noise & said it’s just old, (it had approx 119k at that time…) can’t believe they still do business. Only went there because we just bought a house (moving) and I had 2 kids under 2 & listened to wife… massive mistake! Nonetheless, even tho I had 2 babies at the time, their [Atlantic Jeep NJ] crazy diagnosis made me start looking myself. It was the FRONT drive shaft u couplers if I rmr right. You can change the whole shaft out too it you prefer. Do NOT go down the diff rabbit hole unless you tow more the 60% of the time & even that maybe a stretch depending on miles & how frequent u service ur vehicle. Goodluck!
