You should listen to Aadat, the song which made Aatif Aslam. Pakistani version is the best as far as audio is concerned but visually Indian version of Aadat is better. Aadat is a must listen to find out real range of Aatif Aslam. Tere Bin by Aatif is my all time favourite song though. Jodi might also like Tere Bin as it has kind of Mehram vibes.

Its common for men to sing from the female perspective, this stems from when in the past it was frowned upon for women to sing in front of a male audience, so men sang the songs that females would have written/sung, so that genre of males singing from the female perspective still continues to today and of course it is now widely respected for females to hold their own stage! 😍

This is one of the lesser known songs of Atif. The best thing about this is that it was performed live, with such brilliance that it just blew my mind. I have become obsessed with this song. Hope you give it a try.

I am SO GLAD you reacted to this! Channa is one of my enduring favourites from Coke Studio. This season was an experiment because the band was in Croatia and there were individual musicians in other countries (like the guy with the harp), with only the vocalists in the Karachi studio, sometimes accompanied by other local musicians on an as-needed basis. The season totally flopped because the local audience wasn't ready for this type of experiment 🤷🏼‍♀️ But it had some great songs!

And because of the KZbin ban imposed throughout Pakistan, initial seasons couldn't get its recognition as of todays and hence low rating.

Hey, a Pakistani here who has been a hardcore fan of Atif since I was 13 year old. I screamed at the 'Go' dad joke. hillarious xD. Girl, even I didnt like Atif's part in 'Go', maybe because he has always done classic-pop songs and that was a sudden change. One can not really appreciate and understand the song unless one speaks the Punjabi language and understands the Punjabi culture. That includes vast majority of billion and a half living across India/Pakistan. It’s not the voice and composition but it’s the lyrics! Essentially sung from a female perspective for her ‘ lover’ expressing her feelings purely out of respect almost to the level of veneration from the purity of her heart and soul. Far far away from the modern western culture of debauchery being spread around the world in the name of freedom and feminism.

Atif Aslam has a very unique voice. Most people find it pleasing because of its uniqueness but it might not be appealing to Jodie because of the same reason. Also this is more of a traditional style of music so anyone not familiar with it might not instantly like it.

The only trouble of Coke Studio 6 was that it felt a lot more like a jam session and a lot less like the studio session that it is meant to be. Filmed disparately, around the world with each musician in his own space and our Pakistani vocalists singing in what appears to be someone’s living room leaves the viewer missing the magnificent world of Coke Studio. Like in this song the house band and strings section recorded in Serbia where as Vocalist and backing vocalists in Pakistan later both were fused together. There are so many other Atif's songs which are nicer than this. Can you react to some classics sung in coke studio. Meesha Shafi's "Dasht-e- Tanhai" is an amazing classic. It's lyrics are so beautiful. Each and every line is filled with imagery that translates the feeling of loneliness. The way it is sung , stretching every word further enhances the feeling of distance and separation. You have to check it out.
