I feel like nearly every discussion involving Israel is a vacuum for critical thinking. People are horrendously misinformed, completely biased, or in most cases, both. To the point that it's pointless to talk about it at all, as people ignore facts that disagree with their viewpoint and speak with emotions whether or not there is factual basis for what they are saying. Nobody listens or learns anything. When you have lies and disinformation on two sides of an issue, the truth is NOT to be found in the middle. It's great to hear people share their experiences and express their feelings, and also to have things put in context by the professor.

Interviews by local journalists in the language of people actually impacted by the events is the best journalism. Primary source perspectives like these are invaluable. Allowing experts to weigh in to provide necessary context and a commitment to giving voice to conflicting opinions is excellent. How you manage to obtain interviews with people like the Hezbollah commander is a mystery but it makes Channel 5 a truly unique news outlet. The United States should be showing this on the news channels rather than the entertainment bs they call news and show on a daily basis. We need to educate the public, not fill them with untrue information that further fuels biases and the war machine. Fight against the war machine!!! Again, thank you for posting these real news coverages and not the crap fed to us by mainstream media.

Andrew, this is an incredibly well-done video. You’ve tackled a deeply complex and emotional topic with care, nuance, and a genuine effort to present multiple perspectives. Channel 5’s ability to create such thought-provoking content is unmatched, and your approach to this conflict feels both balanced and deeply human. The interviews and firsthand accounts you included were especially impactful, bringing clarity and empathy to a situation that often feels overwhelming. Thank you for shedding light on such an important issue in a way that fosters understanding and dialogue. Outstanding work, as always! Pd: just doing homework… lmao

Andrew asked that we make long winded comments so here we are: Independent journalism plays a vital role in safeguarding democracy and holding power accountable, especially in a world heavily influenced by corporate interests. Free from the pressures of advertisers and shareholders, independent media provides an unfiltered lens into pressing issues, uncovering truths that may otherwise remain hidden. It ensures diverse perspectives are heard, fostering informed public discourse. In an era where profit-driven narratives can dominate mainstream outlets, independent journalism acts as a counterbalance, challenging biases and promoting transparency. By prioritizing public interest over profit, it empowers citizens to make educated decisions and protects the fundamental right to access unbiased, accurate information.

This video meant a lot to me. From the coverage of many different moving parts that make up the horrific conflict plaguing the middle east, to the in depth interviews of real people who are affected tragically everyday. The section highlighting the extreme measures the IDF take to suppress journalism was heartbreaking and anger inducing. The cycle of violence breeds enough hate to inspire young people to avenge their families and friends through any means necessary. Hopefully this video can reach those who want to hurt others and challenge them to choose a different path. Another 10/10 from me. Great job channel 5!!!

@CMD424582 since you asked so nicely Recipe for Flan: A Space Opera Saga In the depths of the Culinary Nebula, where the sweetest stars collide with the richest cosmic creams, the Flan Imperium seeks its champion-a custard so divine it could unite galaxies. Brave the journey, and let the saga of the Flan unfold! Act I: Gathering the Celestial Ingredients 1. Milk of the Lunar Cow (2 cups whole milk) Harvested under the light of the twin moons. 2. Cream of the Nebula (1 cup heavy cream) Rich as the swirling gas clouds of Andromeda. 3. Golden Starlight Crystals (¾ cup sugar) Refined from the core of collapsing stars. 4. Eggs of the Cosmic Phoenix (4 large eggs + 2 yolks) Guardians of creamy stability. 5. Elixir of Vanilla Orchids (1 teaspoon vanilla extract) Essence distilled from the orchids of Vega. Act II: The Forge of Caramel Suns 1. Command your Starship Burner (medium heat) to ignite and melt ½ cup sugar with 3 tablespoons water in a sturdy pan. 2. Watch as the sugar liquefies and transforms into a golden caramel sun. Do not let it burn, lest the bitterness of the Void consume it. 3. Pour the molten caramel into your Starforge Molds (a round baking dish or ramekins), tilting swiftly to coat the base. Act III: Weaving the Custard Galaxy 1. In the Council of Whiskers, combine the Phoenix Eggs and remaining sugar. Stir until harmonious. 2. Add the Lunar Milk, Nebula Cream, and Vanilla Elixir. Blend these cosmic forces into a smooth custard nebula. 3. Strain the mixture through a galactic sieve into the caramel-coated molds, ensuring no stellar debris remains. Act IV: The Steam Chamber of Destiny 1. Preheat your Warp Drive Oven to 325°F (165°C). 2. Place the molds in a larger vessel and fill it with boiling water, halfway up their sides. This creates the Steam Chamber-a delicate balance of heat and moisture. 3. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the Flan’s core wobbles like a distant pulsar. Act V: The Galactic Revelation 1. Allow the Flan to cool in its chamber, then transfer it to the Cryo Hold (refrigerator) for 4-6 hours. 2. To serve, run a blade of starlight around the edge and invert onto a dish. Witness the cascade of caramel, a solar storm upon a creamy planet. Epilogue: The Symphony of Stars As you take your first bite, the flavors of the cosmos will sing, uniting the galaxies in one harmonious dessert. The Flan Imperium stands victorious, thanks to you, brave culinary traveler!

“Shadow banning is the practice of blocking or partially blocking a user or the user's content from some areas of an online community in such a way that the ban is not readily apparent to the user, regardless of whether the action is taken by an individual or an algorithm. For example, shadow-banned comments posted to a blog or media website would be visible to the sender, but not to other users accessing the site.”

Happy to see a thorough, long format video with boots on the ground and interviewing so many sides and actors affected by the conflict and living in the active war area. This level of detail is what we need to build an understanding of the conflict, which is long winded and complex. The interviewees open up to the local interviewers and come off as genuine human beings with wants, needs an opinions. I’m sure a video like this is not easy to make and will not pay off its production cost easily but in the long run it will make me and others respect Channel 5 as a news outlet that doesn’t shy away from tough issues and financially uninteresting projects. Long live Channel 5! Congratulations Andrew and his team!

Incredible work Channel 5. Thank you for putting yourselves on the front line to deliver the news. Your channel's interviews and footage offer excellent perspective into the lives of the people we may see every day and never interact with. Your videos provide the subjects with agency and dignity, while still keeping things entertaining and sometimes whimsical. Oh and James Gelvin could read me a phonebook and it would be fucking enlightening. I have my stances on modern conflicts that I often refrain from sharing because my beliefs are susceptible to changing when faced with new evidence or understandings; that being said, I think this video accurately portrays many concepts within the conflict.
@BatmanOreo6 сағат бұрын
Fighting KZbin’s algorithmic shadow ban requires viewers to leave comments of 100 words or more, as the platform increasingly prioritizes longer, more engaging interactions. This approach helps combat the algorithm’s suppression of smaller voices, which often occurs in favor of corporate and organizational narratives. The issue reflects a broader problem: large companies and organizations frequently fail to acknowledge humanitarian crises in their “war and conflict policies.” This silence perpetuates one-sided narratives and marginalizes independent voices seeking to highlight these critical issues. By leaving thoughtful, lengthy comments, viewers can push back against algorithmic bias and support creators addressing these ignored realities.

When I watch their videos, I get insight into difficult issues that I would not otherwise receive by watching news stories from other media outlets.
