Actually Lazarus is a common name associated with restoration and being brought back to life. In the Bible, Lazarus was a man who Jesus brought back to life after being dead for four days. So its used a lot when it comes to things that bring people to life or sustain them for long periods of time. The Lazarus Machine (Seen here in Casper) or the Lazarus Pit, which as you pointed out is in the Batman comics.

+Channel Awesome 17:43 - "Okay, here's a question for ya, Casper: How come half of the ghosts in this movie have hair and clothes and the others don't?" Casper and the other three ghosts died a long time ago, but Kerrigan and Kat's father died only recently. My theory is that the longer a person is dead, the more they forget about themselves, causing their self-perceptions to become less detailed. Casper's housemates died so long ago that they have forgotten their own names and only remember a single trait about each of themselves. Casper died slightly more recently than his housemates, so he does remember a little bit of who he was. Kerrigan and Kat's father each died mere hours ago, so they still remember a fair amount of who they were. Some would argue that Kat's father didn't remember too much of who he was despite dying only recently, but I say his memory was influenced by the fact that he was drunk when he died, causing his ghost to also be "drunk" until the pinky promise triggered an emotional response. This idea of an emotional response is also why Casper suddenly remembered how he died upon seeing his old sled.

Luigi's Mansion came out in 2001, while this movie came out in 1995. But I do think it's weird that the reference to Ghostbusters is more similar to a reference to Luigi's Mansion.

Hey, I actually liked Casper! And I saw it the first time a few months ago! Now to be fair, half the time I wasn't listening, and I was only watching it because it was the only semi-interesting thing on TV, and the plot completely went over my head because half the time that I actually was listening, my aunts were arguing about something and I couldn't hear a thing anyone was saying. And on top of that, I only started watching 30 minutes in, so I missed most of the backstory on why they were in the house to begin with. But for the quarter of the movie I actually could hear and was paying attention to, I actually thought it was funny and creative. I had no idea what the crap was going on most of the time, but that was because of the aforementioned distractions, not bad storytelling on the part of the movie makers.

"[Casper's house] looks like Willy Wonka's brothel" Nostalgia Critic / Doug, did you know that Casper's house, Whipstaff Manor, was largely based on the works of famed and celebrated artist and architect Antoni Gaudí? You know, the designer of the Sagrada Família and the Casa Batlló in Barcelona, Spain, both of which are visited by millions of tourists every year? The guy whose works are on-par with Vincent van Gough or Claude Monet, and whose artworks are considered "priceless"? This detail appears to have been cut from the film, but the design of the Manor heavily implies it to be Gaudí creation, possibly commissioned by Casper's [wealthy] inventor father. That would mean that Casper's house would actually be considered a "priceless" work of art.

Welcome to early 1990s movie ratings. Related: Spaceballs, in the late 80s, said "Fuck" at one part. Incidentally, the father in this movie (Bill Pullman) was Lonestar in Spaceballs.
