I love the fact a wife character is introduced and then killed in the span of one minute, of Narration no less. Okay but everyone knows Welsh is the hardest native English-speaking accent. (Don't kill me, Wales, I know there's a language you barely use.) My favorite example of this is Christian Bale, who was born and largely raised in Wales, playing the voice of Howl in Howl's Moving Castle. In the book, Howl is Welsh. In the movie, he's suddenly quite American. And if a Welshman won't do a Welsh accent, no one should attempt it.
@overlydramaticpanda
@overlydramaticpanda 4 жыл бұрын
@Valrath823 Oh god no. As someone from the West Country and who already has to listen to our accents be regularly butchered on film and TV, I'm eternally grateful that he *didn't* attempt that accent. As a general rule, most Americans (including RDJ, though he is better than most) can't even pull off the standard RP "British" accent - once you throw regional accents into the mix (especially one that the vast majority of Brits can't even get right), they wouldn't stand the slightest chance.

This movie and Nutcracker in 3D are so different yet so similar. They're both bonkers crazy. Elle Fanning gave a bland performance while Robert gave a weird performance. Both are odd because they do things you'd never expect(Dragon scene for this, Nazis for 3D). Both are box office bombs. Both are forgotten. I could go on, and on and on... This movie is bonkers, but forgettable. Will not see it NUTCRACKER IN 3D: Awful on almost every level, disguting and offensive and horrid. Will not see it. Still, I wish Elle Fanning had been in this movie because she could be a young crazy women who's introverted and, honestly, let's face it, it would not save the movie, but I'm sure she could give a good performance. She was great in Maleficent 2 and I honestly would have loved her in this. Last one: Why does Elle star in bad movies like Maleficent and Maleficent 2 and bonkers ones like Nutcracker? Heck, Maleficent and Maleficent 2 were decent compared to both this and Nutcracker. A lot of people call Maleficent fanfiction. Yet, this is a movie that I think totally fits the idea of fanfiction.

The fact this Movie's production budget was $175 Million dollars is mind boggling. And the scene with the dragon farts and the bagpipes pulled from it's ass was added in with reshoots.

Welsh is a lot more difficult to do than Received Pronunciation English. There's a lot of regional English accents that are hard to do, but most actors can do RPE fairly well, because it's clear, consistent, and they're used to hearing it.
@wolfieinu
@wolfieinu 4 жыл бұрын
@@davidjames579 What I find funny is how often people who attempt Received Pronunciation but aren't familiar enough with it will put the wrong "a" sound in the wrong place. I.e. the "a" from "ant" versus the "a" from "far." They seem to know that the latter is more common in RP than it is in other dialects, so they just put it everywhere.
