One of the only things I unironically like about this movie is when Jack Frost yells, "I INVENTED CHILL!"

The other part, which I’d totally forgotten about until I saw it in the review because I haven’t felt the need to rewatch this movie more than once haha, is when the in-laws get to the North Pole and all the elves have on a bunch of sweatshirts, hats, scarves, etc from Roots (a Canadian clothing brand) and then other apparel that just says “Canada” on it. Maybe it’s just my style of humour but I remember that being one of the few genuine chuckles I got from this movie. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Forbidden Multiverse Ok that concept is actually kinda fascinating and would make a great short story or comic book. Kinda reminds me of that story someone (Neil Gaiman I think?) did about Santa who was trapped in inescapable immortality and suffering forced into a cycle of delivering presents every Christmas.

I just rewatched it. It's VERY kid-oriented. There are small adult moments sprinkled in a pool of jolly music, goofy sound effects, and VERY childish moments. At the end, when his ex-wife's husband looks at him all googly-eyed and goes "Santa?!" is an exemplar of this movie's cheesiness. Yeah, they killed Santa accompanied by goofy sound effects, a complete lack of seriousness, and an instant shift to cheesiness. Looney Tunes and Tom And Jerry had far darker moments.

Fun fact: This movie came out on the same year Little Miss Sunshine was released in theaters, which also starred Alan Arkin and Abigail Breslin, with the former winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, while the latter was nominated was Best Supporting Actress.

Apparently from what I heard no one wanted to work on this movie which is why everyone on set has a dead-eyed look or so many awkward moments of pause before a line is delivered so take that however you want internet but just based off that little bit of information I don’t think Doug was very off in his review about the actors looking like they have no direction Short Definitely is the best thing in the film though just from how it always feels like his performance is cranked up to 100 while he’s chewing the scenery

What bothers me about this series is in the first one he became Santa Claus due to the contract. Ok. Then in the second one the contract states that to be Santa Claus you need a Mrs. Claus. Ok. Sure. Makes sense in a kids movie. But that leaves the question of what happened to the first Santa's wife? Must have been one for there to be an active Santa. Where did she go? Does she know her husband died? There couldn't have been a funeral since he magic-ed away. Did she get tossed back into her old life after being gone for however long. Little messed up to me

I feel like Jack Frost is always given the short end of the stick in film. He's either the villain or a joke, I think the only time he wasn't was in Rise of the Guardians... He brings winter, he's a crucial part of Christmas, have you ever experienced a green Christmas? It's one of the most depressing things that'll take you right out of the holiday spirit! Maybe if you live somewhere that doesn't get snow period it wouldn't seem as important, but for the rest of us it very much is! Give the character some love Hollywood!

As a Texan, what's snow? That stuff that falls and causes people to forget how driving works? Haha joke aside, I do feel bad for the being. Of his few popular appearances, there's this, Rankin Bass 'Jack Frost' (woke up at 5 am to watch it once before DVR), and Rise of the Guardians. It's probably due to the idea that cold= death cause of freezing and general sadness. Not saying it's as prominent due to modern heating, clothes, etc, but it was a horrible time for certain civilizations and populations.

To be fair, Judy (the female elf from the first film) said that it took her 1200 years to perfect her personal recipe for hot cocoa and that she was seeing someone in the Wrapping. Plus, she did listen to Scott when he had a moment to take everything in and gave him some wisdom to help him. That is also more adult.

And did you notice, that, in all three films, the elves were played entirely by children, as opposed to "little persons" or "midgets"? Maybe it's because child actors are easier to come by, and also, maybe, little actors are tired of being typecast in roles like that.

Sequelitis: One reviewer put it best when he said Tim Allen "did the first one with enthusiasm, the second one with affection, and the third one for a paycheck." Tim's heart obviously isn't in it come 3, and he's upstaged completely by Martin Short. It also didn't help that in 3 one well-liked character was Demoted to Extra and another disappeared entirely with no passing mention. Heck, this trilogy's Rotten Tomatoes pages even provide the page image.

I swear this one just feels so alien compared to the other two. It feels more like a high budget fanfiction or parody brought to screen. The first one has its little flaws, but I always loved it, its one of the Christmas films I watch every year and continue to enjoy it. There's just something about it that screams Christmas magic. Santa Clause 2 was more flawed and had its weird moments, but for the most part it was enjoyable and interesting enough to watch at least once or twice. This is just...WTFville
