I love your take on Snape, that's how he should've been in the books. He's actually friends with the other teachers, tries to help the kids, and gets rightfully mad when Harry and Ron break the law. This is like a completely different character. Also, in the books and the movies it feels like Snape is trying to get Lupin fired with his lecture on werewolves, or simply bullying Lupin in an elaborate way, but here it feels like he's trying to warn the kids in case Lupin transforms.

I wish that was the canon take on Snape. Like, just have him be a very strict and cold teacher. Let him assign a lot of homework and have some Slytherin favoritism since it's his house. Let him have a low tolerance for mischief and slacking, causing him to often dole out punishments. But don't have him be a completely unfair bully! Don't have him purposefully torture or antagonize the students (He may still antagonize them via being strict and stuff, but that shouldn't be his intention).
