I am using QuadLock for almost 2 years now, and as a long-term user I am VERY satisfied with the mount, not only the mount, but the customer service also. Heavy price really does pay off...Quality, stability, looks, clicks, protection and 2 year warranty. It got a bit worn out few months ago, just got a bit shaky because I always ride with my phone and my 660cc, single cylinder engine does vibrate "a bit". I've contacted them, and got a reply in a day. They arranged new mount cap and phone case for me free of charge, making my phone *click* and stay in place like the first time I've done it. I’ve been using two equivalents of the GUB mount for 6 months now, one on my bicycle, one on my motorbike. You don’t need to pay anywhere near £13 - mine were £6.99 each. They work fantastically well. True you need a part of your bars that faces you as you can’t adjust the side to side angle (the centre, between the forks, is perfect), but they’re super stable, vibration free due to the plastic shim between bars and mount, unobtrusive, and my phone has never ever shown any signs of moving. You do need a case, true, but who doesn’t have a case for their phone anyway? There really is no reason at all for spending huge amounts on a phone mount, especially when they either need their stupidly expensive phone case to work, or look horrendous, or both.
@equinoxgfx4 жыл бұрын
I personally choose to use the RAM X-Grip with the Screw attachment to quick attach and detach from any bar as I own multiple bikes it is nice. It just pivots off a single ball and doesn’t have any arm extension so placement can be a bit of an issue at first. But once you find a good place for it, it is a super solid mount! Not having the additional arms creates less point of failure and vibrations. Overall amazing quality product!

It comes with 2 extra rubber insert seals to mount to specific handle bars of different width, so you are definitely good to go with almost all handle bar size. Rode 600 km one trip and never had to adjust the angle. Will get easier to lock phone to Quad Lock with practice, and removing is a breeze with simple push of the blue arm release. It’s expensive but well worth the $$$. If you’ve invested in an expensive phone, best to get the better phone mount for riding. VERY CLEAN LOOK and doesn’t look like it’s there when the phone is removed. Happy and Safe Riding folks!

@philipe.94664 жыл бұрын
@@rohinhans7819 It does depend on the phone. Optical image stabilization is pretty complex and uses lots of tiny moving parts. Not every phone has OIS, especially in lower end devices. Without OIS there's less that can break obviously. But considering how many cameras current flagship phones have I'd rather not risk damaging them. Especially since some manufacturers won't cover these types of damages in their warranty. I also find that my phone distracts me from riding. But with voice assistants these days I generally don't feel the need to mount my phone on my handlebars anyways.

@philipe.94664 жыл бұрын
@@rohinhans7819 Yes it may work for some, but there are also many cases on the internet where people destroyed their new phones cameras. Where the manufacturer didn't repair it under warranty. Another thing to consider is the fact that the phone is exposed to the elements. Rain or harsh sunlight can also kill a phone. If you have a phone with an OLED screen you might also suffer from screen burn in. These are all risks you're running when using these mounts. Again it is possible that you'll never have any of these issues, but they do exist. I think Chaos Causes should have included at least a small warning/disclaimer regarding the risks. I'm personally not going to put my phone in such a mount. Should I ever feel the need to mount a phone on my bike I'm going to use one of my old phones, where damage to the battery or camera don't matter as much.

I have a Gub style mount but mine has extra long grippers, for thick phone cases and I have been using it for a year now and probably close to 2,000 miles and I love it. Mine didn't come with the rubber band thing cause the longer arms really grip to the phone. I could see why you wouldn't have confidence in the small arms but my longer one's really work just as good as the most expensive mount you tested but my mount never hits buttons, which is why I love it. I tried many mounts when I was truck driving cause I installed a pipe on my dash and a semi truck bounces crazy. I will never get another ball adjustment mount or 1 with alot of plastic. My aluminum one is completely plastic free and on my bike, now, it's completely solid. The mount can only rotate either 90 degrees vertical or 90 degrees horizontal, by undoing a screw and taking it apart and then rotate. It's not adjustable like your Gub mount, which is probably why mine is so solid, on my handlebars or in the semi truck that I used to drive. I have probably tried 40 mounts over the years and close to a million miles dealing with them in my semi truck, but this was my favorite. Plastic over time, eventually will weaken by sun and crack but the one I have is completely Aluminum and over 3 years, it doesn't have that plastic weakness. Downside or my mount is, I can't turn it sideways or up and down without taking the mount apart but I never need to do that because I'm always using my phone up and down, so while driving, I love having the more stable, non movable mount. The screw tightens to any of the phones that I tried, but my friend did have a huge square phone that wouldn't fit but would probably not fit in any mount you tried, because of the width of the phone. It was like a tablet but more square and it's not a phone size that I would want anyways, so I am more than happy with mine. Mine was a little more expensive than your Gub mount but not by much, because it's designed for thick phone cases. I don't like phone case mounts like that twist case that requires a phone case to use because I would have to use the phone that they make a phone case for and I go through phones alot and I would have to get a expensive phone, a phone case for that phone, for the mount, and over time, the plastic might get weak and snap. I broke 2 phones because of that style of mount and the ones I had, you had to make sure it was fully in cause I have had issues where only one side went in and it turned, which made me think it was fully in the mount, but it would fall off right when I was driving. On a motorcycle, it would have hit the ground. I hate a rubber mounts and I won't use them.

@hpenvy11062 жыл бұрын
the dampener makes your phone wobble like crazy, but thats not the point. The point is, that modern phones have gimbal stabilisation in their cameras and you can mess them up by shaking them too hard. So in comes the dampener. More wobble, less hard shakes&shocks. I have the GUB mount for my Honda Shadow and my Suzuki GSX-s750. For the life of me I can’t understand what this guy has against the GUB. It has been rock solid in my usage and the swivel function has detents that mildly “click” into place to use the phone vertically or horizontally. I tend to over tighten the screw to secure the phone and it has not once damaged my iPhone 7+. I simply pop the phone into the mount, tighten the knurled screw and forget about it. All of this is done with my gauntlets on my hands. The security is top notch. You could dump your bike and your phone will be one of the last things that comes off (if it comes off). Super happy with my GUB.Also, just throw the rubber safety net in the garbage. It doesn’t have any added value in my opinion.
@justin12183 жыл бұрын
I’ve been using the RAM mounts for about 5 years. Hundreds of crashes on my old stunt bike and dirtbikes. A few road crashes, and tons of miles using the mount on my mountain bike. The only problem I’ve had was the rubber safety net thing tore, but I was given a new one without question. The button pressing issue can be annoying until you learn where to place the phone.

I am thinking about getting Quad Lock in the near future, and they have improved on their design. There is a all metal design now for the quad lock head, more mounting options, wireless charging, and a vibration mount. And the cases are flat now, so no more wobbly phone on a desk. What are your thoughts on the new version and options?

Interesting to see you discarded the Gub. I use one and am very happy with it. Although mine doesn't rotate 360°, it mounts on a cross and can be put vertically or horizontally. It is very sturdy doesn't shake or wobble. Don't use or need the safety net, it's not necessary. Granted that you need to choose the spot on the handle bar that faces front to you.

I have a quadlock, and you have so many different options, you can change the blue colour to a black, red or white one, can mount a charger and a vibration dampener on it, and if they don’t have the right phonecase for your phone, you can buy smth like a popsocket to put on ur phone. You can use different arms for the mount, and can buy it for the handlebar, mirror or fork stem. I would highly recommend quadlock, and even go so far to say that it’s possibly the best phone mount available, even tho it is a bit pricy

I have a RAM mount in my car and have just switched to the X lock because I have a new phone that doesn't fit the phone specific mount I adapted to RAM's windshield mounting system. I love the versatility of RAM's system. I can mount the suction device low on the windshield and use the extensions and double ball connectors to space the mount completely across the dash so the phone is half below the front lip of the dash. This keeps the entire mounting system below my line of sight when driving and the phone is within reach without having to move in the drivers seat. Most other mounts that use a suction device have to be placed near the top of the windshield and the phone hanging through your sight picture in order for it to be close.

SP Connect is pretty similar to the Rokform and Quadlock mounts, but the arm band mount option is what sold me on the SP over the others (plus the fact that the ball adapter for the SP Connect is a lot cheaper than the others).

I actually use a similar product to the Quad Lock, made by Rokform. It's actually a really well built piece and has three mounting options, as well as built in magnets for the phone and whatnot to give you more places to put it on various objects. There's no bump on the back of the case to secure it; Instead, there's actually a hole itself in the case to attach to the mount. The mount is super sturdy, and it does have quite a few places to put it, even at angles (it does turn and tilt really easily). Plus you can get mounts for Rokform for your car, belt, etc.

Interesting video (as always !) As for myself, I used a usb powered version of the RAM. Few main advantages; I choose my own case, cheap as hell as its a mock off (still solid, believe me I tested it), as a USB power port and also I can hyde the phone in a little clear plastic bag in case of rain and still use it. This is a +1 compare to the quad lock !

On the Quad lock: the opening for the charging connector at the bottom of the case is not well aligned for the iPhone 8. It’s not a deal breaker but it does reduce the ability to securely fit the charging cable to the phone. So if you’re charging your phone on a desk say, the cable works its way loose at the slightest nudge of the phone. Otherwise very good mount.

Used gub for over 5yrs and never had an issue whether that be on or off road riding. I even have one on my enduro mountian bike and had no issues. Just make sure to tighten it down and if you dont want the turn tighten the screw so it doesnt as instructions state. Best is the quad lock followed by the gub in terms of security hold. Quad you need a specific case (if you're lucky they do it), gub on the other hand just says chuck it in me and let's go. With the gub I'll admit the screw it comes with does take a while to undo from a close to open it for a phone but once it's at your phones width theres no issue. To undo the screw and tighten is all of 5 seconds. No not as quick as a snap lock but 5 seconds is still faster that the others.

The great part with Ram are the absolutely vast different choices you have for the mounts. You can mount it on the handlebar, the tank cap (with bolts), the tank (with magnets), to the mirror arm, to the handlebar riser bolts, to the steering stem, to a friggin rail, with a suction cup, with a magnet, with a claw, on your boat, on your jeep... You can use a short arm, a medium arm, a long arm, you can use the X-grip, you can use a quick lock, you can install wireless charging, you can even install a darn self-leveling cup holder. It ain't the cheapest or the prettiest, but you can put it on whatever you want. The weirdest place I've had a customer buy one is on a belt sander. They said they can't hear or feel the vibrations while working so they needed to see their phone. Well, Ram mounts has ya covered.

You do have to find a spot to mount it facing you squarely, but mine does not spin, lie the Gub mount shown in this video.
