Hannah, just so you know, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is *not* a remake of the 90s show :) That was just loosely based on the comics but the Netflix one is the adaptation of the comics. It has nothing to do with the sitcom!

The new series is based on a specific comic series, not the comics as a whole. The original comics were not as dark.

I think I’m definitely going to have to get that Inferior book! You talking about your experience with ulcerative colitis actually reminds me a lot of my experience with scoliosis, it’s much more common in females and no one has a clue what causes it, I’ve always got the ‘you’re just unlucky 🤷🏻♀️’ response. Maybe if it was more common in males we’d have more answers!
@Steph163.6 жыл бұрын
Only answer I've ever had a doctor about my scoliosis is that it is more likely to affect girls more than boys because of how the spines grow between 11-20. As girls grow their (can't remember exactly the front side or back side of spine first) backs the other side is more likely to curve

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is NOT a remake of the tv show Sabrina the Teenage Witch, neither is it based on it. They are actually both based on a comic book series from the 60s. So same source material, different interpretations.

Actually its a different source material - completely different comics. Just the same character names.

if you want to see an overview of the whole OJ debacle that is extremely insightful and informative, and really focuses more on the victim, Nicole Brown, I highly recommend the documentary "OJ: Made in America". It was only made a couple of years ago and won an Oscar. I went into it like you, having only seen the OJ TV drama. This doco (stick out the first couple eps, the last couple are incredible), was really moving, and focused on the plight of women in domestic abuse relationships, and how people's obsession with celebrity had a higher priority than the victim's safety. It really puts the whole thing in perspective.

Shoes! It’s not always about looking like granny. As a teenager a lot of young women buy things to fit in, in our early 20’s we dress to be stylish, but by the end of our twenties to early thirty’s my friends and I begin to dress for ourselves. We wanted to look good, but we realized that we also wanted to be comfortable doing it. Clark’s are my favorite go to shoes. They look good and although they aren’t high heels they are cute. My grandmother always said if your feet aren’t happy you won’t be happy. (She owned a shoe store for 30 years) Good luck to you!

haha nope we say obs and gynae!
@shaunaisaJellyBean6 жыл бұрын
Think in Europe we say it as the short versions of the words that the letters stand for
@nataliecat98nc6 жыл бұрын
OB stands for obstetrics which is why we'd say obs, then GYN stands for gynaecology which is why we usually say gynae🤔 though I think an "OB/GYN" doctor is generally just referred to by the gynaecology part in the UK based on what I've heard other people say...
@hanzib316 жыл бұрын
Why would you say all the letters?! Ob is short for obstetrics and gyn is short for gynaecology... We just shorten the words. Spelling it out makes no sense? 😂 It's always confused me why Americans do that. They aren't anagrams or anything...
@Eemsta6 жыл бұрын
Natalie Clarke I mean, I know what they stand for, of course. Everyone here just says O-B-G-Y-N. Or “O-B”. Or “gyno”. Which still is technically incorrect because we spell it “gynecologist” here.

With regards to what you said about not knowing how to help the nhs... with your influence, you could mention (if not on youtube, an instagram post would also be good) using the NHS conscientiously, such as buying paracetamol from drug stores, not going to see the GP for a cold, cough etc and buying medicines or creams if the person can afford it rather than getting it free just because its available, since all of these costs add up and could be used elsewhere. I completely agree that it is an incredible thing to have and often taken for granted. (p.s. always love your content x)

I am so interested in reading inferior! I took a class called gender and science and we spoke so much about biases in science and how sex is almost never a variable in studies bc men are always the baseline but there are so many biological differences between the way women and men experience health. One thing I’d really love to see is a lot of studies done with trans men and women (both on and off hormones) to see how it differs between everyone. I know cis women have different heart attack symptoms than cis men but I really wish there was more available on how trans* people and intersex people experience things like this! I’m just so interested in science!

wow the insight that Sabrina is the weakest character really got me. I could not decide whether i liked that show for so long and the only conclusion i've come to is that i think i'm excited to see where the second season goes, but i totally agree, i was so excited for the aesthetic and like addams family-esque vibe of the show and i felt like the aunts have that and some of the other characters but there were some parts (including sabrina herself) that just felt at odds with the rest of the show and not as enjoyable. idk. i watched it really fast so i didn't have a lot of time to process it.

I felt like I didn't really LEARN anything from "Inferior"-- nothing really stuck out in my mind as important or mind-blowing. But perhaps that's even more of an indication that more women-led and woman-based research needs to happen! Stoked for the next Banging read though!

Random thought about evolutionary differences in men and women. I've been reading a lot about the gut connection to our brain (and literally every part of our body) and how gut issues can be linked with mental health issues. If our immune system is stronger as women and able to defend against issues within our gut.. how the differences in survival against mental health issues shows up between men and women also. A very long disjointed thought there but it came to mind :P anywhooo... love the favourites videos - i get so many book ideas from them :D

You need to watch Outlander!! The way sex is shown and interacted with is so great! Also, I recently read Maresi by Maria Turtshaninoff and you should totally read it because there's a lot of discussion of trauma and female empowerment and also a revenge vs forgiveness debate and all that kind of good stuff involved in the storyline. Plus it's originally in Finnish, and I've been trying to increase my number of translated novels read this year and I always think that increasing the diversity of your reading list is a good thing, so it's a good one to pick. www.goodreads.com/book/show/28818217-maresi

Books, books, books... Been doing a fair bit of reading just lately. Previous book I finished was 'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson. The Netflix TV series is based on this novel. I saw the series first, which inspired me to read the novel. It's really quite different to the series and like the series is bit of a slow burner and gradually picks up. Worth reading since it's also considered a classic piece of horror writing. Shirley wrote the book back in 1959. My current read is Thomas Keneally's 'Schindler's List'. Now, I love the movie... quite possibly one of the greatest films ever made. The book, well, is just as amazing... and heavy going. I mean The Holocaust is a dark period in human history. And the suffering and indignity these people (the Jews) suffered is almost inconceivable. A couple of times I've teared up due to the shear brutality and inhumanness that these people endured, and lengths that some of these people went to just to stay alive. A book people everyone should read and a film all should watch. After this, I'm going for something a little more lighter in reading, 'Devil May Care' by Sebastian Faulks. An original James Bond novel which essentially picks up after the final Fleming novel. I love James Bond and I'm very much looking forward to reading this. After Devil May Care, I've got 'The Man in the High Castle' by Philip K. Dick lined up. The Amazon series is based on this novel and is a-maz-ing. I think this will be just as so. Can't wait to sink my eyes into this one too. Genres - Horror, True Story, Spy/Espionage, Parallel Word/Sci-fi. Quite a mixed bag. Oh, and I'm going to grab your book too...

"I remember loving _Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,_ but I don't remember that much about it." Really? I watched a few episodes, but ultimately found it too cheesy. Sabrina asks her father a question (in the pilot, as I recall), he says no, and then the laugh track rolls. Was something funny? So, yeah, I stopped watching after a few episodes.
