He threw it away for ACTUAL LOVE. he never loved Diana, and Diana never knew him enough to actually say she loved him. I think Charles had some feeling for Diana. The problem is he made comparison between Camilla and Diana. That really destroyed his marriage. His faults.
@YCPYT4 жыл бұрын
Who doesn't? Diana is such a beautiful woman inside and out, she's so easy to love! She's just ruined because of the circumstances, it's hard to cohabitate with husband who probably abuse you verbally. If only Charles love her more than Camilla, their life would be almost perfect. At least happier than now.
@kanamenoname2103 жыл бұрын
Diana also said he was hot/cold with her. He would be possessive and head over heels one minute and the next he would be emotionally unavailable and abusive. I personally think he missed out on a wonderful life because his ego about his wife being more popular than him got in the way and camilla capitalized on that. Either way he broke a lot of his own dreams/aspirations and reputation for a woman who is often compared to reptiles, cows and poo.
@kanamenoname2103 жыл бұрын
@@katiecowen5483 Actually we do know a lot about her, both the good, bad and ugly. These things are talked about by people who knew her (who either hated her like campbell and co, as well as people who loved her like her family). Does that mean we know her personally? No, but it does mean we can imagine her highest of highs and lowest of lows. Was she a saint? Absolutely not, but she wasn't the devil either and did a hell a lot more than anyone in that god damn institution to not only save the old dying tradition of a monarchy but also for the people around the world. Also, Diana's cheating started after she gave up trying for her marriage, because her husband was cheating on her since day 1. And I hope that every man she cheated with gave her the most happiness and comfort that she never got from the man who married her. Eventually, everyone has a breaking point, and when you refuse to go out of your way for someone despite them waiting and holding on for you they will break. RIP people's princess.

If you read what actually happened between the two, Charles and Camilla liked each other long before. They intended to marry but the queen didn't approve of it because of Camilla's "promiscuous past". After he divorces Diana, he isolated himself and married Camilla and theyre actually still very happy. The problem was the expectation of being royalty that made things complicated for both Diana and Charles.

Not smitten but he was attracted to her sexually. Charles was originally supposed to marry (family arranged) Dickie Mountbatten's granddaughter (his second cousin) but after her grandfather was murdered, she said no. It was after that their grandmothers matched him and Diana's sister, Sarah up; they planned to match up Diana and Andrew too, (hence the Duch nickname from her sisters) but Charles was not attracted to Sarah and nixed it. Or perhaps Sarah found out about Camilla and nixed it. Who knows? The media claimed Charles dumped Sarah because she gave them an interview. I bet Diana's sister Jane Fellowes is thanking her lucky stars she was already engaged so she was not the next choice. Diana was under 18 when Charles and Sarah did not work out. Then the grandmas had to wait a bit. When Diana was 18, she was invited to a weekend houseparty where Charles was the star guest. She was 18 and him 31. This was arranged by the grandmas. They should have known better.

I think the Charles and Diana relationship is the kind of relationship that many people have. They love each other; they just can't live with each other. And because they do love each other, they think they can learn to live with one another because people have the mistaken belief that love conquers all. Believe me, it doesn't. Loving someone and being able to live with them on a daily basis are two separate issues. Love is an easy emotion and it comes readily to most people; but being tolerant and patient of one another on a day to day basis, is what is difficult. Most marriages that work are composed of one strong person and the other person who gives in to that strong person. A marriage made of two strong people is doomed to fail eventually, even if initially there was love there. Charles and Diana were both strong people towards each other; even if Charles was weak to his parents. And that is exactly to whom Charles needed to be strong; that is to his parents. This idea that an heir to the throne has to marry and produce another heir is about as ludicrous, antedated and as ridiculous as it could be. So what if Charles never married and produced no children of his own? Then the throne would have just passed to his brother. That has happened often in history and it would not have been the end of the monarchy.
@faithfulforever63313 жыл бұрын
And Charles did eventually stand up to his parents for himself because he did marry Camilla and it didn't change his succession to the throne in any way. He should have stood up to them before he was forced to marry Diana. Diana would have married someone else and most likely would still be alive today.

If Charles didn't want to marry Diana in the first place, then all he had to say to those forcing him to do so was, "No!" His relatives that were or are currently in charge can not change the fact that Charles was born and his birth order destines him to be king. If people truly believe that it is God who choses who shall be king or queen, then mere mortals have no power over what God wants. And if they think they do have such power, then they will have to answer for it to God. It is as simple as that. Charles tries to please the queen and Prince Philip too much. He is in a position of more power than he thinks.
