So you think Camilla and Charles should’ve just been married originally?
@bricktam
@bricktam 4 ай бұрын
100% Yes. And while the Royal Family didn't like the match, there was nothing legally stopping them from doing so. When they got together, they didn't think it would be serious, Camilla knew her own great grandmother was mistress to Charles great great grandfather and also knew she herself wouldn't be fit as a Queen Consort. Charles also knew there was immense on him to find a more suitable bride, so they parted ways and only realized how deeply they felt for each other when it was too late.

Maybe, what Charles was saying was " The average man would have filed for divorce and not have to consult his parents." But the queen had to see that Charles was at the end of his rope with this SHREW "wife"... Not everything can be blamed on Camilla and Charles infidelity or Diana's youth. She took all her married boyfriends back to Kensington Palace and I feel bad for their innocent wives and children and they should have gone on Oprah instead of Harry and Me-gain... Diana wouldn't have looked at Charles twice if he was a butcher or a baker or a candle stick maker. Diana wanted a title and castles and balcony appearances and clothes and jewelry and vacations and notoriety and prestige and financial stability and handbags and respect and admiration and press coverage and should I go on? Diana was a horrible woman!!

The problem with him initially wanting to marry Camilla (in the series) was that at the time she favored being his mistress while Andrew Parker Bowles was more appealing to her as a husband. Charles' persistent devotion to her is what drove her not to break off their relationship after she married. She may have come around to committing to him later, but marrying him at the beginning could have resulted in a scandal back then.

Prince Charles was obliged to marry a 'Virgo Intacta'. Camilla was known to be a 'good-time girl', shall we say. It would have been impossible for Charles to marry her. Although they were totally ill-suited, Lady Diana Spencer was in many ways the ideal match. William escaped all that as he had been openly in a relationship with Catherine Middleton for so many years before they married.

I'm going to say and I know some people will disagree. 1. Charles should've married Camilla to start with. Should have proposed all those years ago. If she said no, at least he would have had some sort of real closure and could have found someone else without dragging on this "one who got away" romance with Camilla. If she said yes, a lot of people would've been spared the hurt. Diana would not have ended up in the crosshairs. Diana would have matured before getting married at such a young age and got with someone who truly loved her. 2. Normally I love the casting of The Crown. I mean, the actresses who played Margaret and Elizabeth alone is unbelievable but I'm not buying this guy as Charles. He's a great actor, phenomenal really but he's no awkward Charles.

Queen Elizabeth should have removed Prince Charles from succession when he said he "couldn't do it without Camilla" it was a veiled ultimatum... "I won't do it". The Queen had her out and did not take it. She had options. She was only 25 when she became Queen. Prince William was 22 when Charles married Camilla and was 40 when Queen Elizabeth died. Prince William was 28 when he married Katherine. Queen Elizabeth could have called Prince Charles bluff and told him she would approve his marriage to Camilla on condition he be removed from succession to be King. Queen Elizabeth did not attend the ceremony of Charles and Camilla and that said it all. If Queen Elizabeth's mother was alive and was advising Queen Elizabeth she would have put an end to Charles plans to have his cake and eat it too.

If Diana had been more mature and understanding, or less impulsive and possessive, she could have happily lived the life of a Queen and let Charles have his fun. Camilla had no plans to legitimatize the affair, and Diana had turned a blind eye from the start, it would have been fine. The Affair was an open secret even before Diana and Charles got together, considering Charles was basically dumped by Sarah (her own sister) for being a simp. I think there's a certain hypocrisy people harbour towards Charles and Camilla. They should have been allowed to marry in the first place but the royal family and standards of the time made it difficult. Both Charles and Diana had their faults. They were human, and certainly not blameless. Quite frankly if you want to condemn anything it was the institutionn of the Royal Family that put them in this position.

I know princess Anne was divorced too,the man she married was an aristocratic? is there any rule that divorcee are not allowed to become king/queen back then? in olden days kings and Queens marry other countries princesses /prince..if they don't find anyone in their community, then they look for someone from commoners,Queen Elizabeth married Prince Philip who was already a prince.

@@livingincaptivityIII Or you could just abolish the monarchy. These people are not special. They're not better than anyone else. In fact, a great many of them behave badly with impunity, making them worse. Among their ranks are racist bigots, Nazi-sympathetic traitors, and sexual predators. Any time you give millions and millions in public taxpayer money to a bunch of people who have been artificially elevated to near-god/goddess-like status, this is the result. These people live lives of luxury and comfort, they want for nothing, they pay no taxes (involuntarily), and they STILL find things to complain about. Borg Høiby, Norwegian jet setting royal playboy who, at the mere sight of him, causes women to immediately begin ovulating and who is the stepson of Norway's crown prince, was just recently arrested for "bodily harm and criminal damage" against a young woman. These people have no filters, no restraints that the the rest of us must observe. They have little to no impulse control. I know this is going to sound crass but there is no other way to put this. Societies should not be elevating people to positions of privilege, wealth, power, and influence simply because they came from a uterus that has been deemed to be more important than all the others. Abolish the monarchy. Get rid of it.

That’s not heroic, that’s just saving face. Also, a proper woman would have bowed out the moment she found out he was engaged to another woman. She was really in love with him, she couldn’t just be his “friend”. But her and her husband were “friends” with him and such is a load of nonsense and a waste of everyone’s time and energy. It would have been different if they reconnected later in life and got engaged but she was there for decades waiting in the wing while they both were married to other people and had children. I honestly blame everyone that was involved in this mess.
